I am using a button to hide some edit text boxes and to display them, that means if I press a button 4 edit text boxex will scroll down and again if I press it that 4 edit text boxes scrolled down will scroll up and not visible, my problem is there any widget which has arrow button on that such that it can show scroll up and scroll down.

I have a widget that contains 4 buttons to show 4 stock prices, each of them will launch into the same activity Quote.class to show stock details. In onUpdate(), it will set up the pendingIntent with extras with stock symbol. After I hit button A, it goes to Quote activity that shows stock A. Then I hit the BACK button to the homescreen, Quote activity calls onDestroy() and when I hit button B, stock B will show properly. However, when i hit HOME button after it shows stock A, the Quote activity only calls onStop without calling onDestroy(), then as i hit button B, it will call onStart() and it shows the same instance that shows stock A.

Originally I thought adding a flag in the Intent should solve this problem. But I have tried
i.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_MULTIPLE_TASK or FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK or FLAG_ACTIVITY_NO_HISTORY), none of them makes any difference.
So is there any ways to make it work? How can i remove the history stack from HOME button? How can I call onCreate in Quote activity and get new extras when i hit button B?
This button will "sometimes" take me to the last screen I was on but most of the time when I hit back, it'll take me to the Home screen.

I use my phone in my left hand so it would be much more handy to use the phone if I could change the direction of the arrow. Currently the arrow goes from bottom left side of screen to the middle right side and this causes me to have to use both hands to use the phone even to do the simplest of tasks.
I want to be able to have the unlock arrow go from the bottom right side of the screen to the middle left side. This option would be a more normal flowing one handed function for me.
Is there an option for this? I have tried to find it and can not see it anywhere. I sure hope this can be changed because this is becoming very anoying. I like the swoop idea and think it could be handy and better than my old iPhone option but I need the direction change.
From the moment I received my HTC Hero from orange several weeks ago I noticed the when I press the back arrow button on the bottom right of the phone its clicks and creaks, dont think its the button itself but its the plastic battery case that makes the sound.
Does anyone else have this problem?
How can i set the button to show a different image after it's been tapped? Either a different image, or maybe some kind of highlighting that shows the button was tapped.

I followed the tutorial off code.google.com to add widgets to your app. For some reason, when I run the app on the phone for testing, then long click the home screen to add widgets, my widget is not an option. I imagine I am doing something wrong, but I thought I followed the tutorial pretty well. Here is some of my code, please offer a suggestion of why I can't add my widget. BTW i don't care that it doesn't do anything yet, or even if it breaks, I just want to see it as an option first (small steps). Thanks for any help or feedback.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing kind of strange behavior of my application after hard Home button is pressed. When you press Home, everything is OK - my app goes to the background, showing Home screen. But if you try to choose my app in the main menu or in the list of last tasks it behaves like it was not started before and does not show the last activity you were on - it just starts from scratch, namely, shows the splash screen and starts next corresponding activities. Moreover, old activities of this app remain on the activities stack, and previous instance of the app is not terminated - so if you press Back for a few times you'll just run into those activities which were undoubtedly started during the previous session of work with my app. Splash screen activity is filtered by "android.intent.action.MAIN" filter and "android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" category. The strange thing is that all of that happens despite the fact that I do not intercept any Back key hits, or override any onPause or onResume methods. What's happening contradicts with my understanding of Android app lifecycle - I was sure that when you hit Home an app just goes to the background, and when you choose it in the menu later - it just unwinds and does not start anew. (Of course, unless stuff like that is stated in the app manifest or corresponding methods are overridden or something else). I also checked it for some other lifecycle events - such as changing orientation or flipping hard keyboard out - and none of those led to such strange results. It appears that the problem occurs when you try to start the app from main menu or menu of last applications.

The trouble is when the ScrollView has many items (requiring scrolling), it prevents the button at the bottom from showing. The bottom button is sort of pushed off the screen. Look at the code below. If you change the for loop to add only 2 buttons, then the bottom button will show. It found my location just fine and is giving the weather correctly. The problem that I run into is when I am searching for other cities to add.
For example: I used to have an iphone and I would just type in the zip code or city, state. It would find any city or zipcode that I enter. With the hero it doesn't find anything except for major cities. Is there any way to get smaller cities to show up. I trying to get some city in Maryland and PA but it won't find anything and there are no big cities near it.
Is there any good alternative for the Astrid tasks app? I just need a widget on my homescreen like Astrid to show tasks. The problem with Astrid is that it has a backup process which keeps running in the background even when I disable backups. (See for yourself, in running processes).

It seems that we are limited to the RemoteViews... OK I can deal with that (but this is a limitat to me) but I'd like to add a button where the user can request an update on the data displayed in the widget. (I get some info on the web but the user only needs to request an update, I can't defined an automatique update, it's useless for my app) I'm sure we can do that since there is an example with a player and obviously with a PLAY/PAUSE button.
