User experience is very important, I am looking for a javascript UI framework has great UI, animation and response time. Now I decided to write a new app, some kind of "framework", which contains these activities, to avoid to write the code twice. How can I use these activities in my other 2 apps ? Whats the common approach for doing this? Adding the "Framework app" to the build path of the two other apps won't work.....

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write a simple test framework. This is what I want to do: My actual test is an apk file on android device, and I write a TestCase or some instrumentation for that which runs on host side. I trigger the test using adb commands or some IDE.I am able to refer to some examples which does above.Now what I want to know is any way of getting results back using any api available in TestCase or such class.This result can be any string value or an object too.
1. can I use TestResult for this purpose ? I expect it ot be similar to function calland return value from function.i.e. on completion of test I should get back the result in a structured way probably defined by me.Is this possible at all.
2. or return value is always going to be put to stdout? or logcat?
3.how do I parse and collect stdout or logcat prints into a file?
any input would be of great help.
Does there exist an automated GUI testing framework for Android?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some knowledge about Human computer interaction and some basic knowledge programming scripts (Python) that run from start to finish and automate some tasks I want to do or calculations. In the past I built interfaces in HTML with PHP behind it. I would like my python scripts to evolve from the command line and build some applications with GUIs that would allow the user to drag files and push buttons to initiate operations and check progress graphically. Since I write my scripts in Python I looked at some of the options (Tkinter, wxPython, PyQt) but I can't make a decision between them to invest my time learn one and not the other. My criteria: Has a introduction for programmers for GUI (what are the differences from a script, examples of some simple interfaces). A framework that would allow me to run my programs on the platforms I use most (Windows) but that can also run on Mac and maybe Linux, without too much modification. If not the same, similar to how you program GUI for Android and/or Nokia smartphones. I'm planning to write some programs for these platforms in the near future so I would like to carry over some of the lessons here onto those platforms, if possible. I did find this previous question but none of the answers are satisfactory. Does any of the frameworks fit these requirements better than the others or are they essentially similar and I would be happy with any of them?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a question regarding services. In Android I am able to use all the methods defined in the service by calling bindService(). In bindService() we have to pass the ServiceConnection object and could able to get the reference of Service Interface through which we can invoke service methods. But Android framework services (System services) are started in a different manner by just calling the getSystemService(). How can I register my service with Android framework.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI think, Android needs a game framework. Something like SDL or more, XNA from Microsoft. Of course, we can use Canvas to draw, but it is slow. We can use OpenGL, but after two days of learning I still do not know how to draw f** background. Of course, I will do that. Some day :) But state and flags-ful OGL interface is really hard to understand if you go from wonderful world of objective thinking. I just want to focus on creating art, not wondering how to create tools for that.
I'm worrying, really worring about Android and games. M$ has XNA, porting it to Zune with Tegra. After that, XNA will come to WinMo. If you ever used C# and XNA, you know, how simple and great it is. What does it mean ? Thousands of games for Microsoft Mobile Junk and still no great games for Android. Worst. Many Android developers will go to WinMo for XNA. Many games will be easily ported from Xbox Arcade too. And we will be wasting time, wondering, how to get 25fps from Canvas or OpenGL. Without sound. Now, I think, is the time to do something with that. Android really needs something like XNA, to allow us producing games without all that technic stuff like OpenGL, game loops with managing threads, times, buffers, right pixel format settings and others. What you think about official game framework for Android?
I'm trying to test the C2DM framework. I got the confirmation email a couple of days ago and then tryied to create a client that could register. For that purpose, I created a simple client following the steps described in this tutorial:
http://code.google.com/intl/es-419/android/c2dm/index.html.
The Android manifest file contains among other things this code:
<permission android:name="com.bilthon.ufrj.permission.C2D_MESSAGE"
android:protectionLevel="signature" />
<uses-permission android:name="com.bilthon.ufrj.permission.C2D_MESSAGE" />
<uses-permission android:name="com.google.android.c2dm.permission.RECEIVE" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/>
<receiver android:name=".C2DMReceiver"
android:permission="com.google.android.c2dm.permission.SEND">
<intent-filter> <action android:name="com.google.android.c2dm.intent.REGISTRATION" />
<category android:name="com.bilthon.ufrj" /> </intent-filter>
<intent-filter> <action android:name="com.google.android.c2dm.intent.RECEIVE" />
<category android:name="com.bilthon.ufrj" /> </intent-filter> </receiver>
And then, the main activity launched when the program starts has the following code:
Intent registrationIntent = new Intent("com.google.android.c2dm.intent.REGISTER");
registrationIntent.putExtra("app", PendingIntent.getBroadcast(this, 0, new Intent(), 0));
// boilerplate registrationIntent.putExtra("sender","mytestemail@gmail.com");
Log.d("WelcomeScreen","mytestemail@gmail.com");
startService(registrationIntent);
I also registered a google account on the AVD running my client, as they said it was required. But the problem is that I cannot get the broadcast receiver to "wake up". I don't know what could be wrong. By analysing the logs, I can see that the registration intent is created and apparently used correctly, but the receiver code just never is executed, what could be wrong?
I have implement a an AP to test device. The AP is an Alarm, it wakes up every 30 secons and wake up the whole system though wakelock.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just started looking at the android framework and was wondering what was the best way going about getting good at it. I started with a text game and created a simple bubbleWrap game next. But am not sure if I'm going about it the right way now, so I thought I'd ask some of you more experienced Android people out here. Are there any courses online that would be beneficial? Any books that helped y'all?

Is their any other way to debug the framework sources? .Instead of adding logs in the framework source and building again.
