I want to use ksoap2 library on my application and i got a ksoap2 library from http://code.google.com/p/ksoap2-android/ i add it as an external library but my application will crash when it need to use the library.

I've been trying to do this now for 2 whole days, and am about to give up. I followed the instructions here:

but it is not working. I can see the library project is added to my application but I cannot reference anything in it. Also the R.java file from the lib was NOT added to my application, so the lib project contains tons of errors, everywhere it tries to reference it's own R.java file (most likely the cause of the former).
Also, in the console there are messages stating that the there is "No resource identifier found for attribute 'X' in package 'Lib Package'. The library builds just fine, and I don't get those messages in the console until I hook the library to my application.
You would think that creating and referencing a library would be a simple thing to do, as it is in most other projects, but this is turning into a real nightmare.
I am a brand new developer to Android. I wrote a pretty simple application that uses the gesture library. The application itself seems to run fine in the simulator. However, when I installed the application on my Google Dev Phone 1 (G1) last night, it doesn't seem to work. I've upgraded my G1 with the 1.6 image from the htc developer site. I see the first screen/activity for about a second and the application exits without and errors. Here is what my manifest looks like:

I have developed bluetooth application where native library will be initiated by Java application (using JNI wrapper). JNI will call the entry function of the native library and then it will create Pthread to for scanning the device. Once Scanning is over, i will get the callback which i registered during the entry function of the native lib (called by app). But i haven't received the callback, but if i run the same native library in the shell (executable from the shell terminal) it is working fine. Can any one help me, if there is any specific architecture needs to follow while developing Java application based on native lib?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up an Android application with an Android library project dependence in Eclipse. I've set up a project called AnTest and a library project called AnLib. I've provided a reference to AnLib in the project properties of AnTest. Now I'm trying to refer to some library code (a static public method) from AnTest. Eclipse throws "com.anlib.Hello cannot be resolved to a type".
And it's not that the reference is dangling - I can see the resources properly merged. But from within AnTest, the only class in package com.anlib is "R".I've added AnLib to the Java build path/Projects in AnTest project properties. Now it compiles, but running throws a NoClassDefFoundError exception.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter getting comfy with the Android 2.0 environment and emulator (for the most part), I took the next step to bind <myapp> against the latest Android 2.0 jars: android.jar and maps.jar. The existing code (working in Android 1.6) did not need any changes to compile, but the app doesn't build due to a weird error message that prevents the build. See snippet below, drawn from the Eclipse Console. I have no aspirations to run up against any core library classes, and I am not aware I do. In other words, I am not implementing SealedObject (or any other core class that I am aware of) that would run up against Dalvik. Not in the javax, java or any other namespace. Anybody got any pointers what's going on here?......

According to this SDK guide, unit-testing a Library project can be achieved by creating a standard application project, reference the Library project and then instrument the application for unit testing. However, when I do this and launch the test application I get the message.No tests found with test runner 'JUnit 3".I'm using Eclipse and the Android ADT plugin, all latest versions.the projects compile just fine. The test project also installs fine to the emulator. But in the console I can see that it looks for <library>.apk, which of course doesn't exist since I'm compiling this as a library into the test project.

But you know, on G1 with official OS image, /system/lib is readonly. I tried to call System.setProperty to set java.library.path to the location stored the thired shared library before load jni library, but the issue still exists.

Great job was done by ksoap team, but the problem is, there is no any good example how to use it correct in different aspects. For instance I get in soap response following data: It's a complex object, or rather a collection of Status Setting objects. When I try to get a property of SoapObject it's only 1 property with all that data as a string. It can't be parsed as json too. Unbelievable that nobody met same problem regarding to popularity android is gaining. Would be very cool to know if somebody solved this issue and how.

What is the best way to deal with web services in Android? I have been looking at KSoap2 library and RESTful web services.
I got one working with KSoap2, but only when the web service is on a remote server, not on localhost. I have tried to redirect the ports for incoming and outgoing as it says on the android dev site, i have used the ip of the network i am on, my own ip and the localhost-ip (it says on the site that one cannot use localhost cause that is the emulators own loop-back network. None works.
With RESTful webservices, i have only tried a tutorial where a google app engine is used as server if i understood it right. Is it easy to connect a RESTful web service to a database. I need to have a database connection in my applikation, which one is normally used with REST?

I'm using eclipse to develop over android, i'm trying to connect to a .net webservice...when i'm calling a webmethod with no parameters it works fine... but when i come to pass a parameter to the webmethod things turn upside down... the parameter is passed as null (while debugging the webservice i discovered that) and i get a null from the webmethod in the client side code... i've been searching for a solution for a day now and all that i can interpreter is that people keep talking about encoding styles and such stuff.... i've tried it all but in vain. i'm using ksoap2 version 2.3 with the following code:
