I want to display a splash screen followed by my trial.class.I am not getting any error but warning as:

Here is the code where the problem lies....
It doesn't give me an error it says exactly this when I run the android emulator
"[2010-08-25 09:12:42 - doppler_test] ActivityManager: Warning: Activity not started, its current task has been brought to the front"
What I think this means is that the intent of the bluetooth function and the button intent is only operation on a hierarchy system. What I mean by this is that if I were to move the button opperator above the Bluetooth stuff the button will work, but currently when the app is run Bluetooth works but when I press the search button nothing happens.
What else may be helpful is my XML code for the button so here it is......

The default behavior of an activity when BACK softkey is pressed is, GO BACK TO PREVIOUS ACTIVITY. If some the same activity is waiting for some response from server or some data updation is going on and then press BACK, I want to wait on the same screen till the current task is completely processed and then move out to the previous activity.

Suppose my application P started Activity A, and A started Activity B, then the activity stack contained A and B, with B at the top.
After that, I opened other apps by pressing Home button. Suppose after a while, the process of application P is killed by the OS. Then, I press Home button to select application P. At this time, which activity will be brought to the front, Activity A or Activity B?
I have following problem with my application: From my main activity ("activity 1"), there is a menu from which user can launch an action. This action will result in an Intent being received by a BroadcastReceiver, defined in my application. Finally, this BroadcastReceiver will start an activity ("activity 2") to deal with this intent.
The problem is that I have a "quit application" entry in my menu, and I can only finish() currently active activity. ie I am not able to finish "activity 1" from the menu of "activity 2". And I can't use startActivityForResult() as "activity 2" can't be started from "activity 1". Any suggestion would be much appreciated Thank you very much guys, regards.
How can I know what Activity has started the current Activity? Is there any specific method like, i.e. getIntent().getCallerActivity() or the only way is saving some information within the Intent using putExtra()?

Context
Consider a FTP browser that resumes the previous session on launch. Each folder is displayed in its own activity. When I click on a folder, a new activity is started for the folder. If I press the back button, the app returns to the previous activity, which corresponds to the the parent folder.
I can logoff from the menu at any time. Logging off should bring me to the login activity (not present the current task when the app has resumed the session), and close all the other activities. How can I do this?
From what I've read, if the activity were in the current task I could use FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP in the intent, but this is not my case.
I have a TabActivity, and each Tab corresponds to its own Activity. In one of them, in the onCreate method, I use startActivityForResult to show a dialog (specifically, Bump's BumpAPI activity).

The problem is that when the screen orientation changes, it tries to create the tab's activity again which makes another BumpAPI dialog, resulting in multiple stacked on top of each other. Do I have a hook into the started activity to cancel the previous one when the orientation changes?
A workaround seems to be to add a button that when clicked, starts the second activity, but that adds an unnecessary step.
Also, I can't fix the screen orientation for the entire tabActivity because some of them require typing and users may want to use their physical keyboards.
I have written a code that stores all the videos for a certain playlist from YouTube in my database, now I want to design a button that checks if there is an updates on that playlist, for example: added video, deleted video,...and so on.
I want a splash screen to be displayed when checking if update occurred or not.Now I have my splash screen displayed but when it finishes I want to return from where I left from my main activity not to the beginning of my main activity.I had my splash screen in its on activity.
I used Toast to make notification, but it seems it will appear even its activity is not in the current screen and some other activity has been started.I want to check this situation, when the activity is not the current one, I'd not send the Toast notification. But how to do ?

All I want is whenever this activity is brought up it randomly chooses an image from the drawables i specify.

I have an Android app with a splash screen.
This splash screen pre-loads data and when finished starts the application's main activity and finishes (through a finish() call).
This works quite well as long as the application is not totally killed. So, I can usually switch back and forth between different tasks as usual: when I leave the app from a sub activity and return soon after I will be presented with this sub activity.
Now, when I leave this sub activity and do some other stuff for a while inevitably this application process is killed by the OS.
No problem so far. Now I would expect Android, being unaware of my preloading (if the data was not preloaded it would just take longer or not display some fonts, but Android cannot be aware of the fact that I am doing preloading somewhere), to restore the sub activity from a Bundle. However the splash screen activity is started.
So, I say, that's fine then... the splash screen activity is after all the launcher / main activity. Now, the actual mystery I have is as follows.
When I press the back-button from this newly loaded splash screen I will be presented with the sub activity I left the application from before it got killed. I really don't understand this. Apparently Android DID save the sub activity's state (and its history stack) to be reloaded but instead of reloading it chose to start the splash screen instead, with this sub activity (I left the task earlier before it got killed) one step back on the activity stack.
Why does this happen?
When the process is not killed I can switch back to where I left off. When it's killed I cannot (yet still have the whole earlier history of that app restored). I know that Android has to load state etc. in the latter case, but that shouldn't be a problem and is performed automatically by default (according to the docs).
I have an NoContentViewActivity which has no Content View (i.e. I did not call setContentView() in the onCreate of my Activity).
My question is how can I keep the content view of the launching activity on the screen? Right now, I am getting a blank screen whenever I launch NoContentViewActivity? I want the content view of the launching activity (the activity which start the NoContentViewActivity) to show on the screen.
I have the DroidX, everytime I go into Task Killer I see mostly all the apps I have are already started, without me physically starting them. So, I kill all the apps but when I go back into task killer thay are all started once again. Seems to me these apps shouldnt be started unless I started them. Not automatically started. It's killing my battery life.

The entire task (the entire activity stack) can be brought to the foreground or sent to the background. Suppose, for instance, that the current task has four activities in its stack three under the current activity. The current task goes into the background and the root activity for the new task is displayed. View 4 Replies View RelatedMy applications carries on processing when the user presses the home key, and generates status bar notifications if something happens the user requested to be notified about.
If a user holds the home key and then selects the application, it is restored in its correct state with the activity on top that showed when the user left.
However, since the intent that is associated with the status bar notification is FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK and I put in the class name of the activity that launched the application (I assume this is what I must do?), the launcher activity is started when the notification is "clicked". I can then switch the application back to the current activity by starting that "active" activity again, but then I seem to have two instances of the activity in memory, since I have to press back twice to leave it. And I suspect my activity stack is then messed up as well.
I have set the launcher activity to be singleTask, but that only helped a bit. From my reading I thought this would just give the task focus if the launcher activity is not on top, but instead it gives the launcher activity the focus.
Is there a way for a notification click to work more like the task switcher provided by long pressing the home button?
I just want to get numbers of times to be used for each Activity.
So the very straightforward method I thought is increasing the count for an Activity when it was started. But how can I get the information?

I have a situation where an activity needs to know where it was started from, so it knows what data to display in that current activity.
I am a bit new to android development, and am trying to implement a splash screen on top of an existing APK. The idea would be that the APK still runs exactly the same as before, but before it does, a splash screen displaying the developer's logo comes up for a few seconds. I know this is easy to do directly in the code for the original APK, but I am hoping to be able to accomplish it without editing that code. Can anyone point me in the right direction for doing that? I am not even sure if it is possible, but it seems like I just need to make a new APK file that runs just the splash screen and then calls the other application.

Inside the doWakefulWork method of the Service I am instantiating a few classes, but some of them require my Activity to be running. How do I actually start the Activity? The code above only starts the AlarmManager and Service.
There are also times where the Activity *is* already started, like if the user manually opened it. So I also need to start the Activity "only if it's not already running". Hows that work?
And what about the situation where the user first installs your application and may not even reboot their phone for a week. In that case, do you have to start the Service from the Activity? But then the Service will die with the Activity.
At the beginning Activity is launched by an Intent and something is done with this Intent. When I change orientation of my Activity, it's reloaded again and Intent is passed to the Activity. How can I clear that Intent to prevent Activity from using it again?
