Android :: Resetting Checkboxes In Dialog With .setMultiChoiceItems()

Apr 9, 2009

I'd like to have a dialog box which prompts the user to select from various checkboxes, then confirm "Ok" or "Cancel". I have this working, but my only issue is the dialog always retains the previous checkbox selection state from the last time the dialog was shown. I'd like to always force the checkboxes to be unchecked (false) every time. Is there a way to accomplish this?............

Android :: Using Cursor With SetMultiChoiceItems In Alert Dialog

Aug 30, 2010

I want to display a multichoice list in an alert dialog box. If I'm using an array to store the list of items, then it is working fine :

d.setMultiChoiceItems(R.array.items,
new boolean[]{false, true, false, true, false, false, false},
new DialogInterface.OnMultiChoiceClickListener() {
public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int whichButton,
boolean isChecked) {

/* User clicked on a check box do some stuff */
}
})

But in my case, the item list is dynamic, which I'm geting from a database. The database keeps on updating its contents and hence the list is also updating at a fixed interval of time. So, instead of using an array I would like to use a cursor in the argument of setMultiChoiceItems.

Android :: ExpandableListViews And Checkboxes

Sep 2, 2010

I have being playing around with expandable list views recently. I am trying to get a list view that has a checkbox as one of the elements of the child view.

I found this tutorial, http://mylifewithandroid.blogspot.com/2010/02/expandable-lists-and-check-boxes.html, and it seemed perfect. However when I compiled it and started playing with it I realised its very buggy. Checking a box in one group can cause a random box from another group to check or uncheck.,

This is the only tutorial I can find on this, It seems like a thing that would be used in a lot of apps, so I was wondering, is there any other good tutorial or resource out there that deals with this? Or even better, would anyone care to show their own code having gotten this to work...

Android :: ListViews And CheckBoxes

Sep 7, 2010

I have a ListView, and within each list item I have some TextViews and a CheckBox. When I check a CheckBox and my onCheckedChangeListener fires, everything works as it should. However, random other checkboxes get checked once one is checked. Here is an example.

If I click on the first CheckBox:
8 is checked.
15 is checked.
21 is checked.
27 is checked.
33 is checked.
41 is checked.

Then if I scroll all the way up, none are checked until 6. The next being 13.

Android :: Adding Checkboxes To LinearLayout

Sep 9, 2010

I want to add some checkboxes to a LinearLayout at runtime. The orientation is vertical and I want the checkboxes to appear at the bottom. I create each checkbox like this: CheckBox box = new CheckBox(this);

Then I add the box to the current view like this: addContentView( box , params ); What should be the params to get the effect I want? So far, everything I've tried ends up overlaying the new checkboxes on top of each other and on top of the other items in the layout. I want everything stacked in a column with the new checkboxes at the bottom.

Will get the positions but I can't figure out how to iterate over the listview to get the names. Also Eclipse tells me that getCheckItemIds is not a valid method for ListView.

Android :: Unwanted State Changes Of CheckBoxes In ListView

Apr 30, 2010

I am facing a very mysterious Problem. I am using a ListView with CheckBoxes that can be clicked to select people. The row layout is the following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <CheckBox android:focusable="false" android:onClick="onSelectPerson" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_vertical" android:layout_marginRight="5dip" android:layout_marginLeft="5dip"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/person_name" android:text="test" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_vertical" android:textSize="18dip" android:layout_marginLeft="5dip"/> </LinearLayout>

As long as the amount of rows doesen't exceed the screen size (-> no scrolling) everything works just fine. But as soon as I have more rows then the screen size (-> some rows are hidden and have to be scrolled to). I have a very mysterious phenomenon: If I check the top row and scroll down some of the previously hidden rows are randomly checked too. If I scroll up again, again some of the before hidden rows are randomly vhecked (the CheckBox I clicked in first place may or may not still be checked). Also the registered onSelectPerson callback is only called for the CheckBoxes I really click. The other CheckBoxes just change their state to "checked" without calling the callback method. I have the same phenomenom on the Archos IT 5 and the Nexus One. This must have something to do with the ListView implementation but I can't quite figure out what the problem is.

Android :: How To Repeat Login Dialog And Progress Dialog?

Jan 25, 2010

I am having a problem about repeating Login dialog (an AlertDialog) and progress dialog, coordinating with http thread. I suppose repetitive Login dialog (if fail, continue) handling should be common and straightforward. I guess my approach must be wrong somewhere. I already spent 2 days on this and am desperate. So please help. User starts the app, the main activity starts.Show a login dialog (generated by the main thread, i.e. from on Create. The main thread then starts a wait_thread, which will wait for http to return data and check the data and decide what to do.After user input username/password and press login, a progress dialog starts.The progress dialog starts an http_thread to talk to the server and get replies. Once done, it will notify the waiting thread.If the user type in the right username password first time, the code works fine.But it always fail for 2nd time Login, i.e. When first login fail(wrong username/ password),the wait_thread will generate 2nd Login dialog to let user repeat the login process. But after user hit the login on this 2nd Login dialog, the system always crashes.

Android :: Showing Dialog After Another Dialog Hangs

Sep 2, 2010

I have a really weird problem, which I am unable to debug so far. thing is. my app needs to download something to work. So in the beginning of the onCreate() method, I check if that something is already downloaded. If not, I pop a dialog up asking the user to download it.My dialog is shown and I am clicking, so aManager.install() is called. I am passing the context because that aManager.install() pops up a ProgressDialog to show downloading progress and spawns a new thread in which everything is downloaded. So obviously before creating my dialog I make a Handler to receive the response from that aManager.install(). And the response MAY vary, because for example the internet connection isn't available (Exception raised and catched and listener called with different code).Now, when that happens (Exception) I would like to call another dialog saying "something went wrong, would you like to retry?" so another call to showDialog(DIALOG_REINSTALL) (this time with another code).thing is the showDialog() gets called (I can verify this by logging) but the dialogs doesn't show up. Instead my application JUST HANGS Does someone have a clue why it's doing this? No exception raised, absolutely nothing from logcat, I can't tell WHERE it's hanging...just see that the method is called and the dialog should be displayed.

Android :: Droid Randomly Resetting

Dec 7, 2009

Got my first Droid last Wed. and put a few apps on it and the phone would reset itself. It did this while on a call, texting, using the browser and even when not in use and it was just sitting next to me. I took it back to Verizon and they gave me a second Droid. The new one does the same thing. I deleted all my apps and did a hard reset and it still does it. Took it back to Verizon, but couldn't get it to reset while I was there. Of course after I got home it did it several more times. I even woke up during the night and saw the phone coming back on from a random reset. Anyone else have the same problem? Anyone know what might be causeing this or how to fix it?

Can I somehow reset the whole stack so it starts again at A so it's as the user just launched it from Home (so that C... E are removed from the history stack)?
