I have a class that creates a view to gather data via a function getView() that provides a view with an EditText.This class has also has variable answer.When the user chances the EditText I want to store the content of the EditText in answer.If I would use an onKeyListener I fear that the answer will probably get stored before the last letter is entered.Is there a good way to handle this in the getView() function via some other listener?

In my application....there are some images like temp1.jpg, temp2.jpg .....upto temp35.jpg,
so on button clicking, i want to load one-by-one image in ImageView ....
i want to do like:
cnt=1; imagename="temp" + cnt + ".jpg"; cnt++;
so my confusion is that "is there anyway to load an image in imageview from string(imagename variable) like temp1.jpg,etc."

I created an application with loging and an arraylist to fill a ListView.
If i am calling or i need to check my mail, sometimes i lost the context of my application (variables and the listview !)
It is a little complex to save arraylist in SharedPreferences and i am not an expert in SQLite.
Do you know a solution to keep persistent my data (variables and the arraylist) during the use of my application?

I am a newb to Android and Java and want to write a funtion that will display a list based on a varable that I pass to the function. The function is below and the code below creates an array out of a string called type, but what I want to do is pass it a variable string and have it build a list based on that string. So if I wanted the type list I would say list_it("type")But if I try something like getResources().getStringArray (R.array.thelist); it doesn't work.Can someone point me in the right direction? public void list_it(String thelist){String[] types = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.type); ArrayAdapter<String> mAdapter = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, R.layout.list_item1, types);
setListAdapter(mAdapter);
ListView lv = getListView();
lv.setTextFilterEnabled(true);

When reading extremely long articles on my device, I like to copy the text and paste it into something like [UR
But it's tedious to highlight an entire page's content, especially with very long articles.
Is there any app that will basically automatically copy all the text from a webpage article, without having to manually highlight it?
Or even better, a Share to Clipboard feature that automatically puts all text in the clipboard?

Is copying the reference to the object and not the value of the object. Meaning, when I modify pos.top or pos.bottom, the original object gets modified. I'm guessing I am missing a concept of pass object by reference vs value here which I thought I understood. What is the fix here? Is it a problem with how I defined my custom class?

I have a string array and was trying to style certain parts of the text with tags like <b>, <i>, ... but it doesn't work.
The array looks like this:
CODE:................
The text is displayed in the textview like this: tTitel.setText(Html.fromHtml(Text[ii]));
I tried it without Html.fromHtml too but this had no effect. The styling tags do work if i use them directly in the code, like: tTitel.setText(Html.fromHtml("blabla<b>blabla</b>");
How to style the text in an array?

I'm trying to use the code below to connect to an online source, then compare the data as it is read line by line against what is typed in an EditText field before displaying the next page. At the moment when I run it and press the "Sign In" button nothing happens. The problem seems to be with the comparison of the data.

I am trying to make an android widget like the Google Voice Widget where users can go through an array of Strings which is retreived from the SQLite database. The problem is using global variables in the widget provider. I need to hold the index of the value they are currently on in order to pass it to the intents which are created when the left or right buttons are created. The variable is always returned as zero though.

super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
Intent intent = getIntent();
String message = intent.getStringExtra(MainActivity.EXTRA_MESSAGE);[code]....
My app includes a search bar. In the first activity the user types into it what they are looking for. What I am currently trying to do is try to change the text hint to the message string. This string contains what the user typed in the previous search bar.

Are there any tools that go through the file taken from the xcode project and build the xml needed to use the strings in android? This tool should be easy to build but I appreciate any pointers to already working tools.

In Android, capturing date from datepicker and storing as string in sqlite. Sorting by date doesn't work because they're strings (unless I'm doing it wrong.I've googled this issue for ~5 days, and it looks like there should be a way to capture the date from the date picker, convert it to a Long, store it in sqlite as a Long, select and sort on the Long date value, then convert the Long back to a "mm/dd/yyyy" string for display. I've tried various combinations of parse statements, Date, FormatDate, etc. with no luck at all.On activity start, get today's date and display it in button which calls the datepicker.Capture new date from datepicker (if one is entered), save it as a long to sqlite.On opening an activity showing a listview of records, select from sqlite with orderby on date (Long), convert Long to "mm/dd/yyyy" string for display in ListView.

I have preferences where you can enable/disable what items will show up on the menu. There are 17 items. I made a string array in values/arrays.xml with titles for each of these 17 items.
I have preferences.xml which has the layout for my preferences file, and I would like to reference a single item from the string array to use as the title.
In the Android developer reference, I see how I can reference a single string with XML, but now how I can reference a string from an array resource in XML.

1. How can I delete an entire string of text messages in one fell swoop? I can delete them one at a time, but I just had to delete 44 text messages (an entire conversation between me and a friend) and I'd really like to know how to do this in bulk! (I am using Handcent SMS).
2. I can get the default ringtone to change, but I cannot figure out how to make each contact have its own ringtone. The manual says to go to the contact itself and then select "information" and then "ringtone," however, I cannot select these parts. They are grayed out. How to do this?!?!
3. I want the text alerts to only give off a sound, NOT a vibration and a sound. I went into the tools for Handcent and clicked the "vibrate only when device is set to vibrate mode" but it still vibrates. How can I make this work?
4. Is there a "help" section on the phone itself? Something I can search on the phone itself when I get stumped like this?

Does anyone have any idea how to find the n-th field (string) in a delimited string where the delimiters (separator) could be either a single char or several chars.and the syntax for user-defined function is FindNthField(string,separator,position)so position 3 would return three,The separator in use would actually be Chr(13).This has to run on Android and so should be efficient.
