Sprint HTC Hero :: Lost Locale - How To Manage Ringer Setting
Mar 8, 2010Had Locale and used a basic setting to turn my ringer off during work based on time of day...put it back on after work.
Is there anything in the marketplace that would work for me? I've read many bad reviews on Locale and don't want to risk it for $10. Not averse to paying for a good app that someone can vouch for!

Dec 18, 2009I wanted to set up my hero to get my mail from work and calender ect. We use outlook. The question I have is whats the difference between active exchange sync and just setting up outlook like you would set up yahoo, gmail ect... Sorry if this is a dumb question but I just never had to use exchange before so im very unfamiliar with it. What I have been doing is just syncing my phone via usb with my home outlook.

Aug 13, 2010When creating my SQLite database in Android I set the database locale - db.setLocale(new Locale("cz_CZ")). This is a Czech locale. A SELECT statement works and takes the locale into account, for example:
SELECT * from table WHERE name='sctzy' COLLATE LOCALIZED
But using LIKE will fail: SELECT * from table WHERE name LIKE '%sctzy%' COLLATE LOCALIZED
BTW. There is no java.text.Normalized class in Android. I thought I could make a second column with a normalized text, stripped of special characters, which would be used for searching - but I am missing a class or way how to normalize the String.

it lacks : polish pl_PL and nl_NL
Now what I'm doing is creating values-fr values-es directories. But my phone only has English and Spanish locales.
Here's two things that would help:
1. A definitive list of all locale suffixes that are allowable as the values-?? directory names 2. A way to add more locales to my phone.

Jun 25, 2010Been using Galaxo 1.6.3.3 for quite some time now and it's fast, stable and tweakable. Only thing that lacks is the support of Dutch locales. Tried the app MoreLocale 2 however this only changes the language of the homescreen menu. Settings e.g. remain English. In XXJC2 Dutch locales are included so I was wondering if it's possible to copy them to Galaxo 1.6.3.3. Anyone knows how to do this? Seems like some Tai managed to install Tai fonds by replacing Sans Droid in system/fonts. Don't think this adds languages though.

For instance with the music app I get "Music" in English, vs. "Musica" if I have my locale set to Spanish. Is there a way to get the default application label (perhaps as defined in strings.xml)? Hence my excitement when I got it was off the charts, but now, not so much. The situations aren't enabling and it's the same 'ole story of "Defaults" dicking everything up.

Can I force, programatically, the local of an activity that isn't mine?I can imagine 2 ways this could be possible:Specifying the locale in an Intent used to start the activity.
Access and manipulate the configuration of running activities (in the same way as I can modify my own activities' configurations).Any thoughts? Is it possible? Is it reasonable?

Nov 6, 2009I'm looking for an app that will allow me to set up different profiles for phone settings that can be switched easily by choosing a "profile" from a list.I DON'T want Locale. i want to be able to do this by choosing from a list, NOT based on my location.For example, a user could set up a Power Saver profile, a Power User profile, an Online Profile, etc. Each of these profiles should be customizable. For example, I should be able to customize the "Power Saver" profile to the power settings I want (ie. Screen brightness, WiFi off, Bluetooth Off, Syncing Off, etc).Is there anything like this? Ideally I'm hoping for something that has a free version, as I am in Canada and we can't get paid apps yet.For the record, I am using Useful Switchers, but I don't want to have to go through all the various steps each time I want to go back and forth from power saving and using my phone online.

I have 4 things set up in locale
1) turn on silent when at work
2) turn on Wi-fi when at home
3) turn on silent 6:30PM to 7:30PM (when getting my son to bed)
4) turn on silent 11PM to 8AM (so no emails are waking me!) number 2 works fine, the problem however is with the silent ones, ALL of them never go back to the default (ringer at full volume) when the time is up or when I'm away from the location. any ideas? I don't have GPS on, but the distance from home to work is large so it can't think I'm still anywhere near there plus that won't affect the time related ones.
