Can anyone give an idea how to identify the views part of the active screen[i.e current running activity on the phone].
E.g after launching uiEditContactActivity,how can I identify the views [ several fields, buttons etc] part of that screen.
I am trying to modify monkey, such that for creating a contact, it should launch Edit Contacts Activity and fill the respective views [name, number etc].

If some the same activity is waiting for some response from server or some data updation is going on and then press BACK, I want to wait on the same screen till the current task is completely processed and then move out to the previous activity.

Not that it might matter, but I have a galaxy S4. Had it for awhile and pretty much run the standard apps I always have even on my old bionic without issues. In the last few weeks I started noticing a sort of pop up ad. It only shows a few times during the day and only right after I unlock my screen.
So far I have uninstalled the last few apps I put on and no luck. Even though these apps are ones I have used in the past with no issues. All my apps are from the google play store too.
I put Avast on it and it reports no viruses. I installed Lookout Ad Network Detector and it doesn't find anything.
This is a full screen ad, not in the notification panel. Most of the time it shows a Kindle Fire ad. I just hit the back button and it goes away.
I did visit winrar.com using firefox which might be a fake site for the real rarlabs.com which make winrar. Other than that I can't really think of anything I might have done to cause this.
I have gone through most of my apps looking at settings to see if any have options for ads and no luck.
I searched many forums but there seems to be no clear way to identify the screen type other than by eye. Clue #1: The box has no mention of AMOLED. Clue #2: P/N is 99HKZ009-00 Clue #3: Made in China Clue #4: Unbranded, unlocked phone bought from a US retailer. My plan is to root. According to what I've read so far, the method depends on the type of screen, SLCD or AMOLED. I need to know for sure, so as not to brick the phone.
View 16 Replies View RelatedSo through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.

While the data is being fetched currently i am showing a dialog. problem is that while dialog is being shown it puts entire activity (i mean the whole screen) to background. Is there a possibility in android where my dialog only disables some part of the screen and rest of the screen remains active and can handle actions done on it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a simple ListView and on that ListView I have placed a number of custom defined Views. The CustomView has ImageView and two TextViews.
The CustomView also has a "stateful drawable" as background, so that the background image (a 9-patch) changes if you press the Row in the ListView. When pressing the Row, the background image changes to a Red-ish thing.
The problem is that when the background changes from the default greyish, all the Views in the CustomView (ImageView and TextViews) still have their greyish background and thus creates very ugly greay boxes on top of the now redish background.
What is the best way to solve that problem? I hoped that such things were handled automatically (as it is done in for example .NET), but I was wrong it seems.
I'm trying to add a listview on the bottom of my opening activity that has two text items. Anyone know how to do this? I see stuff on how to do a listview with two columns, and how to do a listview at the bottom of an activity, but I can't find any that does both.

Pulling the battery and restarting do no help. I haven't seen a thread specifically like this. Anyone seen this and know a fix, or has a part of the screen just gone bad and I need a new one?

I downloaded the screen test tookit and tested the touch screen, and it confirmed the top part of the screen is not registering any touches. Is there anyway to fix this? How to activate a HTC Magic (Sapphire).
I have the unlock code and a Vodafone SIM card with internet activated. I put the sim card in phone, tun it on but it doesn't ask me for unlock code ! (maybe it's allready unlocked because on the screen appears Vodafone).
When I want to activate the APN settings should appears in the lower part of the screen but it is not. I tried other method of activation - from G1: to press menu buttton after second google user and pass input entered - for apn field appears. No succes this time too.
Any idee how to activate ?
I was able to flash ROM from : LNK1 but I have a problem with touchscreen which works upside down. When I press screen on top it actually shows that I pressed at bottom of screen. I was looking for solution many days and have learned a lot from many sites and different forum threads, but surprisingly non of the solution works for me. I am not able to reach proper file to change proper property to change this behavior. Most probably i need to set somewhere: ctp_revert_y_flag = 1 as described here: LNK2, but I am not able to find nor edit script.bin on my phone, here I found some info: LNK3 and also here is very interesting info about partitions: LNK4 but I can't find this script.bin on my phone.
My phone is china phone 1:1 Real MTL 6589 GT-I9500, I was able to flash several ROM's using SP Flash tool from LNK5, I know how to do this, but no matter which ROM I flash no matter which recovery image I flash this touch screen behavior is still upside down as described.
1. set ctp_revert_y_flag = 1 in script.bin on my phone - I can't mount proper partition, don't know which partition should I mount, can't find this file

is it possible to manually rotate the screen or fix the current screen orientation (with a key/button)? because it really annoys me having taken portrait pictures that cannot be viewed (with the media gallery application) in a portrait fashion on the milestone. this is because it always rotates the portrait picture back to landscape when rotating the milestone from landscape to portrait. right now there is no way of properly viewing portrait pictures on the milestone other than tilting your head (holding the milestone landscape and tilting your head along).this cannot be the way it was intended to be, right? or do I have to get a different viewing software which allows you to choose screen orientation? is there such an app?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am implementing a music player application in Android. My play list selection screen is implemented as a tab selector widget which contains a ListActivity inside each of the tabs: Artist, Albums, Songs.
I want to update the ListView in each of the ListActivity when I delete an item from any of the lists.
i.e. When I long press an item in the Artists list a context menu is drawn with "Delete Artist"
And it should delete all the songs from this artist in the Songs ListView, delete all the albums by this artist in the Albums ListView, and finally delete the entry for the artist in the Artist ListView.
Each of the ListActivity has its own fillData() method, which updates the ListView when the button in the context menu is pressed.
How can I call the fillData() method of the Albums ListActivity after I update the ListView inside of the Artists ListActivity?
I want to populate a table, defined in layout xml file through the programmatic way. I have define Table with a single row defining its header, with all the attributes set. Now i want to know a way so that i can just replicate that header row in the table with new content.
I tried using inflator inflate(int,view) method, but at runtime it showed up with error.

The idea is to change the views, whenever I press one of the radio buttons. When I press a button the first time everything works out fine, but the second time I press a button, I get an IllegalStateException, and I can't quite see why I'm getting this.
Also, the Activity seems to set all my global variables to null, which is why I have to create them every time I switch from portrait to landscape or vice versa. So I would like to know if there is a way I can save my views in the Bundle, or any other way in which I can permanently save my views, so I don't have to add or create them every time, I flip the phone. And whenever I flip the phone, it seems that it rereads the main XML file, causing the RadioGroup to be set to 2D even if the 3D button is checked. This is because I've said the 2D button to be checked from when the app is first created, but I would like to also save the state of that RadioGroup.
Is there a way to switch views in a ViewFlipper just like on Home screen, where we have small dots at the bottom of the screen and on clicking on them we can switch views.

I am writing an android application that has 3 views one below the other. Each view has to be of equal height, depending on the screen size. Each view occupies the full width of the screen. How do you specify in the layout xml that the view has to take up 1/3rd height of the device display height? What would be the appropriate layout to use in this case?

But it seems, my custom views are being re-created from scratch when the orientation changes. This makes sense, although in my case it's inconvenient because the custom view in question is an X/Y plot and the plotted points are stored in the custom view.
Is there a crafty way to implement something similar to onRetainNonConfigurationInstance() for a custom view, or do I need to just implement methods in the custom view which allow me to get and set its "state"?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have TabActivity that uses 2 other ListActivities for the tabs. Both underlying ListViews are set to CHOICE_MODE_MULTIPLE. When I run the following sequence of events, I get a strange result: 1) Setup one activity (tab) and its ListView using a CursorAdapter, including checking some items on the list 2) Reorient the screen (open the keyboard) 3) Setup the second activity (tab) and its ListView using a CursorAdapter, including checking some items on the list 4) Switch back to the first tab
At this point, I can see in Eclipse that although (of course) each ListView is a distinct object, the internal variable used to store the checked state of items, called mCheckStates, is the SAME OBJECT REFERENCE in each of the ListViews.
Clearly this is an issue, since the two views should not share the checked state of items between them.
If I skip step #2, this does not occur
Here is a bit more detail:
After Step 1: ListView1 is object reference @1, ListView1.mCheckStates is object reference @2
After Step 2: ListView1 is object reference @3, ListView1.mCheckStates is object reference @4 (the reorientation recreates the views)
After Step 3: ListView2 is object reference @5, ListView1.mCheckStates is object reference @2 <-- note the reuse of this reference from step #1, not sure how/why
After Step 4: ListView1 is object reference @3 (unchanged), ListView1.mCheckStates is object reference @2 (changed) <-- same as ListView2.mCheckStates
