View 2 RepliesI call an activity from another with startActivity(new Intent(Caller.this, NewActivity.class));
I had a problem with a variable. So, using debug I saw that I pass two times in the onCreate method of NewActivity!
I was a little bit surprised. Somebody can explain why and how can I avoid this behaviour?
Is there a way to open and edit word file in android and if this application exist does it has an open API?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a ListActivity that uses a CursorAdapter to fill the rows in the view. I wrote a database helper class that gives me back results for common queries I make for my app, and it uses an SQLiteOpenHelper implementation I wrote to open the database. I use the open helper to open the database and get a cursor to pass to my CursorAdapter.
Here's a code snippet:
CODE:...................
The problem I'm having, that I didn't have before I implemented the open helper (before I just opened the database directly without a helper), is when I click on an item, which takes me to another activity, and then go back to this activity. When it initializes everything is fine, and my list is populated fine, but when I go back from the activity that follows, the list is empty and in the LogCat I see "Invalid statement in fillWindow()".
It appears from a few post I've seen that the reason is, when I requery the cursor, the database is closed. But I'm not closing it! I'm scratching my head on this one.
I open task manager i find no apps running i leave it for 1 min for example and i reopen it, i find some apps running without i run them such as MAIL, Touch input, com.htc why do they open
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am developing an LBS-based website specifically targeted at mobile phones and wanted to link it with Android's Google Maps app. On the iPhone the OS does this automatically i.e. user clicks google map http/ url link, browser closes, maps app opens up. s there a way to do this in android as at the moment it just opens the normal google maps website which isn't very mobile friendly! If so then I presume it would be some specific 'html' tag or javascript solely for Android?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Eclipse Indigo on Ubuntu and my Android emulator won't open. The window doesn't even show up.
It used to work but I updated something (forget what) and now it doesn't. When the console feels like working it'll say the emulator is launching but the window never opens. When I try to delete the AVDs it says that it's running in an emulator and cannot be deleted but there is still no window.
I've re-installed AVDs the ADT and still nothing. I tried it outside of Eclipse in ./android and it still won't open.I'm 99% sure this error happened when I upgraded SDK tools from 19 to 20 and Sdk platform tools from 11 to 12.
In my application, the user selects an image from the sdcard. I launch Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT action for "image/*" type. This displays the com.android.camera/.ImageGallery2 activity. When the user makes a selection, I create a Bitmap Object using Media.createBitmap (..). However, when the user was trying to open an image from the SD card the app ran into strange errors............

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy mother recently indicated that she's considering being in the market for an ebook reader. However she is, bless her soul, firmly insistent on open format, DRM-free, and the ability to "really own" a book she's downloaded. She doesn't even want the potential for a Kindle-1984-type remote-wipe or an inability to move a book to another device later. (Yes, my mother has grown up to be a Free Software evangelist. I'm so proud of her. *sniff*)
Of course, she doesn't know the ebook market all that well, and frankly neither do I. She's considering the B&N Nook, but from what little I know it has the same lock-in problems as the Kindle.
So my question is, I suppose, two-fold:
1) Are there any ebook stores or services available for any device that don't treat customers are criminals waiting to happen, and use a DRM-free format without revocation ability? Are they bound to a given device, or are there any that work on an arbitrary Android device? A good ebook reader app or use of the open ePub format (for which I understand there are several readers available) is a plus here.
2) Of the various devices out there (both phone and non-phone), which make particularly good ebook readers? She has a decently large purse but it still wouldn't hold an iPad-sized device comfortably, but at the same time a 3-inch screen is not going to work for her eyes. (It barely works for mine.) What's a good device if that's your main interest? Any good/bad experiences here, or at least things to look for?
My company has both Ev's and Intercepts. When users forward email using these devices the forwarded message gets attached as a .e mail file and neither can open attachments sent by these phones.

How can I tell it to return the results to my application instead.
