Android :: Get Total App Memory - Heap - External Allocations
Jul 7, 2010In my android app, is there any way to get the total amount of memory my application is taking up, in the code. I'm using lots of large bitmaps, so it must include external allocations as well. I must, however, be able to get the number in the code, so that I can dynamically adjust to fit the budget I have.
I also need a way to get the total amount I have available (16Mb or 24Mb) as well.

I use Runtime.getRuntime().freeMemory() but it can only retrieve your current application... Dec 23, 2009I've been doing a lot of searching and I know a lot of other people are experiencing the same OOM memory problems with BitmapFactory. My app only shows a total memory available of 4MB using Runtime. getRuntime ().totalMemory(). If the limit is 16MB, then why doesn't the total memory grow to make room for the bitmap? Instead it throws an error.............

Nov 19, 2010In my application i have a autocomplete in first activity and some edittext in second activity.when i run my code in emulator it works fine and i am not seeing any virtual keyboard on screen when program is excecuted.but when i depoly it in device when i application loads, onfocus is directly on autocomplete and a keyboard pops out,and also when i navigate from first activity to second activity onfocus is on first edittext and keyboard pops out. I want to disable this onfocus on all the page. how to do that ?

Feb 1, 2010I have an Android app modeled after the LunarLander example by Google.
I am debugging it on a real device, (Motorola Droid) with Android 2.0.
When the orientation changes, the program crashes on a null pointer Exception.
Logcat from just before crash:

The first line that worries me is "Something wrong here" at 24:38.620. I have no idea what it means, But I think its due to me not reacting properly to the screen change.
Next I get a debug message that I printed myself from within my own method surfaceChanged() about the new surface dimensions.
Then I print out debug message about whether flies was null. flies is the field that eventually causes the NullPointerException. Its created once, and never written to again for the rest of the program. I know that it was not null before the crash, because it was read several times.
Does anyone have a clue how my private member variable came to be null just by these clues?
I would include code but there is a lot of it and I don't know what would be relevant.

Nov 11, 2010I'm trying to write an application that needs to know when there is no IP network connection available. I am using the android.net.conn.CONNECTIVITY_CHANGE broadcast event along with ConnectivityManager to react to the changes in state to achieve this, but I'm having problems testing my set up in the emulator.I have tried both flight mode and pressing F8 to disable the "Cellular Network" but even with both of these engaged the application still "sees" the underlying network.Has anybody managed to find a way to simulate a total lack of network access?

Oct 16, 2010Evening folks i downloaded an app for my Xperia X10 which was Total Recall which allows me to record telephone conversations both incoming and outgoing automatically, now i downloaded the free app but never used it as my phone developed issues i was told by my network provider to do a master reset and to reinstall any Apps i had on phone as they would also be deleted. I have sibnce managed tovreinstrall all the other apps but Total Recall will not reinstall it keeps coming up with " YOU CAN'T INSTALL A TRIAL COPY ON THIS DEVICE MORE THAN ONCE" I could understand it if i had used it but i am not willing to buy it to realise it's not all made out to be. Can anyone help with this issue or recommend another free app which will allow me to record incoming and outgoing conversation calls

2) How do I shut off the vibrations when I'm touching the phone in any way? I don't really need it to vibrate at all...never been a fan of that
I plan on letting the battery drain down all the way before fully charging it back up, and my husband and I are getting the nifty better batteries too.I just want to remove any unnecessary(totally spelled wrong) things...And I did install an app killer.what is the concencus on this? Should I just uninstall it? I don't use a lot of these things so I thought it would be good to kill some apps unless I need them on demand.
General :: Total Reset / Super Cleaning - LG Optimus L7
Feb 4, 2013Few questions on Android because I want to do a "super cleaning" on my mobile. I have an LG Optimus L7 P705g , not sure how it's called elsewhere.
I have rooted my device about a month ago and downloaded Avast + installed Avast AntiTheft, only that when the installation finished I didn't said it was installed so idk what happened there.
1) How can I be sure if the AntiTheft is installed or not?
2) When installing root apps and regular apps, how can you notice? I mean, can I install a root app and not be aware of it?
3) If i do a Hard reset the root apps stay on the phone? In that case which "Root uninstaller" would you recommend ?
4) Doing hard reset is bad for the device?
5) I rooted my phone with SuperSU by ChainFire, to start my mobile from 0 I have to go to the SuperSU app tap "unroot" and then do the hard reset?
All in all what I want to do is to have my device as new. Without any trace of all this time I've been using it.
