However, I'd also like the site to work well on other smart phones as well as more basic mobile phones as well.Do I create two sites (Mobile WebKit and basic mobile web) and redirect based on User Agent? You have to consider old phones, even devices with only wap support.
For example: The mobile website has to recognize Nokia N75 and render/send the code that looks optimal for this device. Same thing with an iPhone or a Motorola Razr.
I have seen few apps having exact same UI when you access the app through stand alone app or through their mobile website. What are the pros and cons of both approaches while developing the app?

I was tried for RTSP stream for a long time, finally I could success to play the RTSP stream from mobile Youtube website:

My approach is to copy the stream link and paste it in my code, then, there are sometimes success to work(play) on Android and sometimes will not. I can't figure out why? Is something wrong about Youtube server? Because my code is just the same, and only change is the stream link URL. I used VideoView widget and my Android platform is sdk 1.5 and under x86-based, so I really want to know why and how can I solved for this. This is the logcat when I can't work for the video stream.

View 9 Replies View Relatedso i have an n1 for at&t and i just got the ota update for froyo last night. today i'm trying out the default web browser to see what kinds of flash videos i can see. i already downloaded the flash player from the market. plus i went into the setting for the browser with regards to "about:debug" then changed the UAString to desktop. but for some reason when i go to a website like nbc.com to try and go watch a full episode of the office, it only loads the mobile version of the site. also when i check out the facebook page it always automatically loads the "touch" version of the site. how can i get it to default to the desktop regular full site version? can anyone tell me a way around this or a setting change other than try a different browser?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone back before 2.2 came out. I've played with CWM, made Nandroid and Titanium backups, removed bloat and installed most of the root only apps. What I haven't done yet is flash a ROM. This is mainly because it seems that while there are a crap ton of ROMs being developed out there all of them seem to either not be fully stable or are missing some sort of key feature (camera, videocam, bluetooth, LED, internal storage, etc).
Are there any ROMs that you folks are currently using that's stable and has all the features of the phone working? If not, what's the closest one that you've found?
How to stop youtube displaying the page designed for Mobile phones? I just want to view the site in my internet browser the same way as I can on my computer but when I am on youtube and I choose the Desktop view at the bottom of the page it just reverts back to Mobile view instead. I've disabled all the settings in my browser that convert sites to mobile views etc etc. It only does it on youtube and I cant stand the youtube app on my phone. I don't want any other apps or anything like that I just want to view it like I do on my comp.

I had recently switched over from HTC's stock browser to Opera Mobile browser and I'm loving it. It's much smoother and just feels better but something that was really well done in the stock browser is Google's site; really easy to use and looks and feels great. However, in Opera Mobile, it's a really bad, watered-down version that just looks ugly. Is there a way to get the good Google site to work on Opera Mobile?

View 6 Replies View RelatedLast year, I implemented a web application specifically designed to display large jpgs (approx 950px x 1000+px) in a magazine style format on WebKit for the iPhone. It works great there, as well as any other WebKit-enabled device - until Android.
On other devices, tapping zooms the image, then there is a momentary pause while the image is rendered and sharpened - so text retains clarity. The pause/render/sharpen never takes place on the Motorola phone or the AVD I'm running though Eclipse. Even taking the web app out the equation, going directly to the image in Android's flavor of WebKit shows the same issue.
I've tried outputting jpgs with a much higher density: 165dpi, up to 600dpi - there is some clarity increase, but not enough.
Are large jpgs just a lost cause w/Android? Is the render/sharpen on zoom something that just hasn't made it's way into Android's version of WebKit?
In web view, the overview mode method does not works in Android 1.6. Because of the API Level restrictions. is there any possible to show the web view in zoomed out completely? Any Idea?

I recently dl'd google scoreboard... my buddy at work recommended it. He has incredible too. The icons didn't fit properly and some text on bottom was cut off so I told him it was crap. He showed me his incred and the app looked fine. I then tried all my apps and noticed that a bunch of games I haven't played in weeks were now showing up with this zoomed in look.... others work/fit flawlessly. These games did work fine previously. I'm assuming some other app is to blame but have no idea how to go about it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI thought it was just the screen being so large but now i've realized that this camera is permanently zoomed. Its not because the camera sticks out a few mm either... In order take pictures I have to physically take a couple steps away from what I am trying to take... Has anybody else noticed this? At first I thought it maybe a hardware issue with the camera but I think this maybe related to the software maybe permanetnly digitally zoomed in?
View 7 Replies View Relatedon the camera in OS 2.1 the camera is permenantly zoomed in... if you want to take a picture you have to litterally back up a few steps.... 2.2 froyo has fixed this issue but ONLY for the camera... not the video... for example I took a picture in camera mode, of a glass that took up the whole screen and just fit in the picture... i then switched to video camera mode and didn't change anything else and the video then expanded across the whole screen and was zoomed in and only half the glass could be captured!!! I just want to point this out and any of you guys can feel free to give it a try... just wanted you all to know i'm not crazy! and this is not a hardware issue like i initially though this is simply a software issue... and when the camera is stretched across the screen this causes it to be permenantly zoomed ... so i'm happy 2.2 fixed this for the camera mode but disapointed it's still in the video recording... but it proves my point... now i'm going to try to upload my examples...
View 28 Replies View Relatedhas anyone noticed that viewing picz while zoomed in displays really poor image quality? this only seems to happen in the 2.1 gallery. i noticed this way back when the apk for 2.1 gallery was released and i tried it out. double tapping to zoom in resulted in a very pixelated and low quality zoom while in regular 2.0 gallery, there was no problem. pics zoomed in still displayed crisp sharp quality. with all the custom roms nowadays, this problem is still there. I'm using sholes 2.0.6 still, with my camera taking highest quality pics with highest resolution. I'm pretty sure this is just isolated to viewing pics in 2.1 gallery because if i viewed the same pics in camera mode, there's no problem. no one else noticed this? is 2.1 gallery just broken like that or what?
