View 2 RepliesI have downloaded a file from HttpConnection using the FileOutputStream in android and now its being written in phone's internal memory on path as I found it in File Explorer
/data/data/com.example.packagename/files/123.ics
Now, I want to open & read the file content from phone's internal memory to UI. I tried to do it by using the FileInputStream, I have given just filename with extension to open it but I am not sure how to mention the file path for file in internal memory, as it forces the application to close.
In my android application I an storing an image file in internal memory using below code-
FileOutputStream fos = con.openFileOutput(fileName, con.MODE_PRIVATE);
fos.write(baf.toByteArray()); // baf - ByteArrayBuffer
fos.close();
Can anyone please help me to read this image file from internal display it in an activity?

View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to access the internal storage memory using ES File Explorer? I have tried going up and down the folder hierarchy and can never find it.I've read that Astro File Manager can access it but I prefer using ES File Explorer and don't want to have two file managers on my DI.I am surprised at this stage of Android that a file explorer is not included in the OS.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am coming from a BB phone so memory management was different. I was exploring the phone today and came across the Services running and saw that I had something like
Avail: 183MB+113MB in 23 Other 57MB in 4
I don't quite understand what this means with the plus and the "in" statement. Not too long afterwards, I checked and I was down to
Avail: 99MB+0B in __ Other 0B in __
Could someone explain to me the format of the available memory and secondly if I should be concerned that I was going down to 0 in the spots shown in the second example?
I was curious how to read the available memory in the process manager screen. I don't know what the x+x in x also x in x means. I don't want to install an app that eats up memory to see how much memory is being used. I'm not trying to control how it uses memory but, I do like to see how much memory there is available after I install and run new apps and/or widgets so I can try and only use lighter apps when possible.

I've tried URLConnection, but it doesn't seam to be working. After some Google searching it appears that URLConnection doesn't always work with some FTP servers. All of the java FTP connection libraries I've found require you to download the file to a local location before reading it. However I would like to have the same functionality as URLConnection in that I can just use the following similar code...

I am trying to read a file "words.txt" from a resource. It is a very simple, but large (2 MB), text file that I want to read line by line. I have put the file into /res/raw/words.txt, and try to open it with the following code:
CODE:...................
However, I get a java.io.IOException. This is not a "resource not found" exception, so the resource is opened correctly, but the readLine() produces the error.
I tried using the InputStream itself, with the result that read() produces -1, which stands for EOF, as if the file was empty.
I have a text file added as a raw resource. The text file contains text like:
a) IF APPLICABLE LAW REQUIRES ANY WARRANTIES WITH RESPECT TO THE SOFTWARE, ALL SUCH WARRANTIES ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO NINETY (90) DAYS FROM THE DATE OF DELIVERY.
b) NO ORAL OR WRITTEN INFORMATION OR ADVICE GIVEN BY VIRTUAL ORIENTEERING, ITS DEALERS, DISTRIBUTORS, AGENTS OR EMPLOYEES SHALL CREATE A WARRANTY OR IN ANY WAY INCREASE THE SCOPE OF ANY WARRANTY PROVIDED HEREIN.

NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER LEGAL RIGHTS THAT VARY FROM STATE TO STATE.
On my screen I have a layout like this:
CODE:........

CODE:....
