I'm trying to start an activity out of a widget so I can't use the startActivity() function. So I'm trying to create the correct intent but I don't find what I'm missing.

I'm trying to bring up the standard window for Bluetooth Settings (with Device name, Discoverability etc). However, general approach with startActivity(intent) ends with NullPointerException pointing to BluetoothSettings.java onCreate:135. Checking with the Android code, I've found that at line 135 they get some extras from the intent. So I prepare the same extras (names I've found in android core BluetoothDevicePicker interface) and issue it -- the same effect with NullPointerException. Might be the wrongs names of the extras I prepare? So is there a way I can see those extras (with names especially) from the intent the system itself submits when I open Bluetooth Settings manually acting like a user. Code...

I've got a probleme with an exception, but I don't know why I get this exception.
The project is about implementing an AbstractAccountAuthenticator with an AbstractThreadedSyncAdapter to sync certain data on a server with a content provider.
I made everything and both adding accounts and syncing is running without any problems.
Now I've tried to add a Preference-Screen just like suggested in the android reference (search for AbstractAccountAuthenticator, it is explained there) via xml like this:
autenticator.xml:
CODE:..........
The Preference-Screen-xml looks like this:
CODE:.....................
The screen is promted how it should be, but and that is the problem: When I click on the PreferenceScreen with the intent it leads to a crash of the system (both in the emulator and my HTC-Desire).
Logcat says:
CODE:..............
Here the part of the manifest, where the activity is defined:
CODE:.......
The whole test-code (it is my project on the essentials to find the problem) is to find at googlecode (http://code.google.com/p/ cleanproject/source/browse/) (Eclipse-Project)

Where I can find a simple tabs example?
The Android Developers Hello Views Tab Layout example only details how to use separate Activities for each Tab.
I would like to use tabs to extend a screen of settings without scrolling, i.e. there are too many options for a single screen, so I'd like to split them over two tabs, but still handle them in the same Activity.
Each tab can refer to a separate layout file if that is how it needs to be done.

My first page contains 3 tabs. I want to retain all these 3 tabs through out my entire application. That means I want to see these 3 tabs in every view. For example : I have 3 views. First view is Main.class. It contains 3 tabs (Home tab, Favourite tab, settings tab). When I am clicking any one tab (Ex: Home Tab), it shows the contents of Home.class (a ListView) below these tabs. But when I am clicking the ListView view , it will go to another activity(SubListView.class), and I can't see the tabs in that activity. Only contents of that view will be displayed there. How can I show these header tabs in that view also?
CODE:.................

I have a TabActivity and am going to have 3 or 4 tabs.In TabA, I would like to have an ExpandableListView, which will list products. I would like TabC to act as a sort of "shopping cart", probably with a ListView of itself. So, my question is: is there a way to interact with the TabHost from the Activity? I would like to be able to click a button inside of TabA and have it update and switch to TabC. Is this possible? Can I get the Tab's activities call it's parents methods?

The problem is that i need to start another activity wen user selects something from the content displayed in the tab... The other activity should also be displayed in the parent tab itself... is it by any chance possible or i'll have to try some other way around?

My app works with pictures. It can take multiple pictures as an input, process them, and send them again to another app.
As a consequence, my main Activity has declared an intent filter on ACTION_SEND_MULTIPLE for image/* mimetypes and can result in issuing a new Intent with the same action and data type using Activity.startActivity(Intent).
Is there a way to exclude my own activity from the list of apps that is displayed to the user after the startActivity() call ?

I have an application with contains multiple activities. The main activity will start the others ( use startActivity() ) depends on user event, when an activity close, it calls finish() and return back to main activity. It appears to behavior like that.
However, the "problem" I see is main activity's onCreate function is called every time. I think the the main activity should be placed in the activity stack and simply push to front when others exit, therefore only onResume, onStart are called. Is there some flag I need to set or I misunderstand the activity behaviro?
In child activity, besides calling finish() or startActivity for main activity, what is other way to move main activity to front?

I created an application which enables the user to set whether he wants to receive notification while the application runs in background mode. If the notifications are enabled an activity should be started (the dialog should appear on the screen).
I tried to enabled it the following way:
CODE:...........
This is the method from main activity. When onPause() is executed isRunningInBackground is set true.
When I tried to debug it when the main application was running in the background the line
startActivity(intent) had no effect (the activity didn't appear).
Does anyone know how to midify the logic in order to start an activity from the main activity when the main activity is running in the background (after onPause() is called)?
