Dec 20, 2009In android, is it possible to customize the header layout (the icon + a text) layout of a dialog? Or I can just set the string value of the title text?

May 4, 2010I am new in android, i am having few problem in layout alignment. I have divide the screen into three layout,as header, body and footer. I am giving the height dynamically for the three layout in java file, so i need to give 12% of height to header and footer layout, and the remaining 75% i need to assign height to body layout. For that i have made the calculation as follow
first i am getting the height and width for the screen. With the help of the screen height i am getting the 12.5% height for header and footer layout

Sure, its easy enough to create a LinearLayot, add a View on the top and then another view below that - tada! But what Im after is how you "set up" or design the project so its easy to just change whats in the Content.
What I really would like is to be able to "swipe" (see here) the area and then just "roll in" a new View/thing in the Content-area, but keep the same header.

Therefore AM/PM would not be relevant and would therefore allow MINUTE to be greater than 24 (making the max 59). Is it possible to change the TimePickerDialog instance in any way to reflect this?

Jan 6, 2010I have touched on this question here, where Christopher gave an answer to this, but I dont really get it so I thought its time to make it a real question, not just a "follow up" =)
As it stands, the application Im writing has 4 different screens:
1. Screen 1 - list of nodes (main screen)
2. Screen 2 - options menu, tableLayout with buttons
3. Screen 3 - navigation
4. Screen 4 - text details on version etc
These screens can be navigated to/from using a "header" View that is placed on top. the header then has 4 different buttons:

The header is just an XML-file (header.xml) with a few buttons. That header.xml is the included in the Layouts using the include-markup. For example, the main.xml has the line:
<include layout="@layout/header"></include>
The header show up alright, but the question is - what is the correct approach to attach OnClickListeners for the buttons in the header?
Christopher pointed out that you could create an Activity class and do the hooks there, like this:

Android :: Layout - Webview To Display As A Dialog
Nov 5, 2009I have a webview I'd like to display as a dialog. I'd like the webview to fill the entire screen, except for a button below it that I'd like to stay at the bottom of the dialog regardless of how much content is in the webview. Currently my webview fills up the dialog just enough to push the button off the screen. I'm sure this is something pretty easy but for the life of me, I haven't been able to find the magical combination of layouts, views and attribute values to get it to play nice. Just to be clear, I've gotten it so the button floats over the webview but I'd like the webview to stop just above the button and scroll, if that makes sense.

Jan 25, 2010I am having a problem about repeating Login dialog (an AlertDialog) and progress dialog, coordinating with http thread. I suppose repetitive Login dialog (if fail, continue) handling should be common and straightforward. I guess my approach must be wrong somewhere. I already spent 2 days on this and am desperate. So please help. User starts the app, the main activity starts.Show a login dialog (generated by the main thread, i.e. from on Create. The main thread then starts a wait_thread, which will wait for http to return data and check the data and decide what to do.After user input username/password and press login, a progress dialog starts.The progress dialog starts an http_thread to talk to the server and get replies. Once done, it will notify the waiting thread.If the user type in the right username password first time, the code works fine.But it always fail for 2nd time Login, i.e. When first login fail(wrong username/ password),the wait_thread will generate 2nd Login dialog to let user repeat the login process. But after user hit the login on this 2nd Login dialog, the system always crashes.

Android :: Showing Dialog After Another Dialog Hangs
Sep 2, 2010I have a really weird problem, which I am unable to debug so far. thing is. my app needs to download something to work. So in the beginning of the onCreate() method, I check if that something is already downloaded. If not, I pop a dialog up asking the user to download it.My dialog is shown and I am clicking, so aManager.install() is called. I am passing the context because that aManager.install() pops up a ProgressDialog to show downloading progress and spawns a new thread in which everything is downloaded. So obviously before creating my dialog I make a Handler to receive the response from that aManager.install(). And the response MAY vary, because for example the internet connection isn't available (Exception raised and catched and listener called with different code).Now, when that happens (Exception) I would like to call another dialog saying "something went wrong, would you like to retry?" so another call to showDialog(DIALOG_REINSTALL) (this time with another code).thing is the showDialog() gets called (I can verify this by logging) but the dialogs doesn't show up. Instead my application JUST HANGS Does someone have a clue why it's doing this? No exception raised, absolutely nothing from logcat, I can't tell WHERE it's hanging...just see that the method is called and the dialog should be displayed.

Jun 12, 2010I have a ListView with several columns and I need a header row at the very top that labels each of these columns that *does not* scroll with the rest of the ListView. I am using addHeaderView right now, but I've ran into 2 problems:
1) The header scrolls. I need it outside of scrolling so that it's always "floating" on top.
2) Each column in the header isn't lining up with the columns in the listview. I can make the header columns and data columns all line up perfectly if they're all in one big TableLayout, but how would I get the header to be outside of the scrollview yet also stay uniform and inline with the data columns?

Also what exactly is the difference between a ListView header and a standard item in the list. I notice that by default a header can be selected, which makes me think there is no difference.
