Samsung Moment :: Error Saving - Deleting Files And Browser Downloads
Sep 4, 2010Some time ago...I estimate a week at most, I received an error when simply saving a file from my Browser, stating there was not enough space to do so. Knowing my phone had mre than adequate space, I presumed it was just an error with my browser.
Trying again with a different internet browser, I was met again with the same dilema. To make matters worse, I cannot permanently delete picture files from the default viewer on my phone. Queerily, I can delete them, only to have the pictures return hours later. To make my situation more unusual; Upon viewing the SD card mounted on my laptop, I can move, add & delete any form of files with ease. Even saving/deleting other files using different apps (Videobox, for example) gives me no hassle whatsoever.
One solution I'm willing, but at the same time reluctant to try is to reset my phone entirely to it's factory default setting (prior to backing up all of my SD card's data, of course)

May 4, 2009Using Eclipse Ganymede I found various bits of code on the internet and put together some code to test javascript and Android attaching latitude, longitude to a browser form application. If I comment out the location loc code and execute the two assignment lines, things work as expected. The javascript code in the browser picks up latitude, longitude. With the loc code, the browser displays a blank screen for a moment and then goes away. Mar 2, 2010I'm writing an Android application. One problem is your app cannot contain a file whose uncompressed size is bigger than about 1Mb. I have a serialized object that I want to load that totals about 2Mb. My plan was to split this file into two smaller files, then load the object by combining both files at runtime.
However, I cannot work out how to use e.g. InputStream and ObjectInputStream to specify that I want to read the data from two input streams. How can I do this?
For example, say my object was split between file O1 and O2. How can I say "Load the object by reading the data from O1 then from O2"?

2. One button on Activity#2 start system default browser(Intent.ACTION_VIEW) to get Twitter authorized.
3. After user allow, Twitter redirect user to Activity#2(Custom intent- filter+data) and it save the tokens.
Now, if I press back key, the app back to browser, how to prevent this and return to Activity#1? Try several Intent.Flag before start browser with no luck.

There's a vast amount of material in MSWord format that I wish to read on my Eris. I can save a file as .txt and put it on my SD card using Astro, etc., but Quickoffice and Tulip are the only readers able to read those files - and both are otherwise inadequate. I've never passed the Caliber IQ test. It seems to convert to epub, but none of those readers ever see the result.

Jun 12, 2013I have two questions regarding my Nexus 7 and pdf files. I tried to save a pdf attached to an e-mail, and was asked to choose btween Kindle and Quick Office and whether to make the choice permanent or one time. I mistakenly chose Kindle+permanent. Now the only way I can access the pdf is to go to the saved email and click the attachment. Then I get linked to Kindle which opens the pdf. Needless to say that is a lot of unnecessary selection. I tried to find the pdf file with File Manager but could not locate it. I tried to create a bookmark to the email, but could not do that either. So my questions are:
1. How do I undo the permanent choice of Kindle?
2. If I cannot do that, how do I create a link or shortcut or bookmark to the email so I can get to it quickly?
3. How do I find the folder to which the pdf was saved?

Oct 20, 2010My music has ID3 version 2.3 tags (most common). About 10% (2,500) of my music is AAC (.m4a) format which is MP4 tagged. All my songs are very organized into 11 different genres. Everything has a title, artist, and album assigned to it and looks great in my iPhone, iTunes, MediaMonkey, and Mp3tag program. When I add my music to my Samsung Fascinate, it reads the tags of my .m4a music but when I go to genre, things are messy. It appears to be putting albums in the genre section (only with .m4a files). Example: Lets say I have an .m4a of Garth Brooks, Thunder Rolls, No Fences (album), Country (genre)In my Samsung Fascinate player, it will be found in the genre section under "No Fences". If I click "Country" genre where it should be, the song will not be listed there. It seems to be reading .m4a Album tags as genre and not reading the appropriate tag "Country".I hope someone can help straighten this out without having either manually edit each song tag OR convert all of them to .mp3 and deplete the song quality.

Jul 3, 2013I am on a standard website that has a normal upload button, I need to upload a PDF file, But when I click on the upload button on the web site a popup window from my Android phone appears and says "Choose action" and gives me access to the gallery, camcorder, voice recorder , choose music track, gallery (again), select music track and voice recorder (again).
I need to some how get access to my SD card and my download folder to be able to pick the the pdf file that I need to upload. I have tried this both on the default internet browser and Google Chrome, but both give the same options.

General :: Saving Files To Network Shares?
Jan 14, 2013I have a need to roll out tablets to some of my people who work in the field, here is the problem I am running into.
I need them to be able to connect to a network share, open a document, and then save the changes back to the network share.
I am able to access network shares easily enough once I am vpn in. using ES, Astro, x-plore. Simple enough, create shortcuts to shared folder on my network here at HQ.
Problem is that if I open a document on my tablet, change something, and then save it, the changes just get saved to the temporary save location on the android device.They dont end up back on the network share.
I would like for users to be able to just hit save and have the changed document overwrite the original, same as if it was done from a windows laptop.

I have them all in /res/raw/, and I would like to access those resources in my native library with functions such as fopen() and such. Can this be done, or do I have to go through JNI for this as well? I would really prefer not to, for ease of porting and possible speed and memory reasons.

Nov 15, 2010I am working on a private website that will serve all kinds of documents: especially RTF, TIFF, JPG & PDF.This site is for mobile devices, on the iPhone it just works, serves all of those file types right out of the browser. It strips the formatting out of the RTF files but that is ok.
In android I can open an RTF file from Gmail and it opens correctly (again stripped formatting) it even says "Opening as HTML" But in the browser it serves it as plain text with all of the formatting characters.I have had to download a 3rd party tif viewer.And when I click the document button it downloads the tif file and the user has to then click to open it.This is at least semi-workable. The same goes for .pdf files, they have to be downloaded and then opened.I was wondering.is there a way to tell the OS to go ahead and open file type from the browser using a set app? I have a 3rd party RTF viewer installed now but unlike the TIF and PDF, the RTF file tries to open in the browser, it just fails at decoding it.

I found a program that imports them to the phone, but it replaces everything and I didn't want all those bookmarks in my browser. I exported my Google bookmarks to a HTML file and stored it on my SD card in the download folder and named it bookmarks.htm. I then went into the Droid browser and typed the following URL: content://com.android.htmlfileprovider/sdcard/download/bookmarks.htm
I then created a bookmark of the link.
Now, I open my browser, click on the bookmark, and all my Google Bookmark sites are displayed as links in order listed under their categories.
