I am trying to migrate from SDK 1.0 to SDK 1.1 for this i have to remove all the references of R.Styleable. from my code. While working on this - I am facing two problems: Problem 1: I have created one attrs.xml and declaring attributes there which intern referring to android attributes. as mentioned in below sample: <declare-styleable name="Gallery1"> <attr name="android:galleryItemBackground" /> </declare-styleable> But I do not know how to do it for arrays like TextAppearence which contains array of attributes :( Problem 2: I have to use these resources in different application through: appContext = context.createPackageContext("package_name", Context.CONTEXT_IGNORE_SECURITY); appContext.getResources(). this is again a problem as class Resources does not provide any method to retrieve array by passing the name. When I do sp.getString("sample", "3.0"), it works fine and returns a string, but it shouldn't be a string, it should be a float. Running sp.getFloat("sample", 3.0f) throws a ClassCastException because it is a string. What should I put in the XML so that the preference is stored as a float?

Although I got clear answer that I have to customize the Intents based on some unique ID eg. setAction() still have some problems.This can happen more than once for a contact. And when the second message is generated, the notification is raised well (message is fine there) but the intent when the user actions the notification it uses old data, so previous message is passed and not the brand new message.So someway the intent is caching and reusing previous extras. How can I make it unique per contact and per action?

I have a little doubt, I spend data from Activity A to B with a bundle in the intent.Where I should declare the keys? In Activity A or B? Only to avoid confusion, I'm talking about the string that defines the data that will be set in the Bundle.Ex: public static final String KEY = "MyKey";
I declare always in the Activity A, but I think that if I could let all the keys in a file would be better, like keys.java or something like that.Obviously, this is nothing that is generating errors, just a doubt about convention, a thing that I consider very important in software development.
I've been following the View tutorials included in the android developer site. When testing hte HelloGallery view, I get this compile- time error.

Strangely enough, when I insert this lines into the onCreate() method at the start of the package, there is no problem. It seems that the android.R class is not known.

This will show three fields, but when you uncomment the five commented line, then NOTHING will appear. Why is that so? Why does setting layout parameters cause my TextView's to not appear? I'm stuck! What am I missing?

I have a simple horizontal linear_layout with bunch of image views in it. the trick is that the views have different widths, relative to the size of their parent (the linear layout). I set the layout's weightSum to a 100 and the layout_weight to let's say 10 of one view and 15 of the other, on so on. And it did not work. I also tired using float values setting the weightSum to 1.0 and the layout_weight of the image views to 0.2 and 0.3 and so on. But it didn't work either. I did search this group for any references to the weightSum but found nothing. Any ideas how to handle it?

Also, in the event the vendor has shipped their own Contacts application, will the same solution apply equally well to those handsets shipped with custom apps? I'm running into a problem where using a 9 png drawable for the background causes a stack overflow exception on a listview item (stack trace shows its related to a child TextView -> drawText()). The layout is simple:
<LinearLayout><ImageView /><TextView /></LinearLayout>
and the background works fine on 1.6 and above. It's just 1.5 that's having the issue. If I set the background to be a color, it works fine.
