In current activity, when user click the back key, I don't what it back to the last activity. Can I add a listener to listen to back key in current activity? When user click "back" key, it actually back to the activity I want it to go.

Is it possible to register a listener to listen for changes in the volume level of the music stream in Android?
I'm displaying the actual volume in a SeekBar and I would like to change the seekbar if the user changes the volume with the hardware volume keys. At the moment the correct volume is displayed until the user changes the volume with hardware keys.
Is there any build-in mechanism in Android, which could create a service or app that actually listens to some server from the out side.. something that will "Wake up" the phone and makes him receiving a message from an outside server (i am asking this coz most of the appz are working the way around, when the phone sending requests to an outside server to receive data)
is it possible any how?
The default behavior of an activity when BACK softkey is pressed is, GO BACK TO PREVIOUS ACTIVITY. If some the same activity is waiting for some response from server or some data updation is going on and then press BACK, I want to wait on the same screen till the current task is completely processed and then move out to the previous activity.

I call WebView.clearHistory(), but I am still able to go back after doing so. I want to reuse a WebView, but I don't want the back button to allow the user to go back further than the current "session" of using the WebView. Anybody know what is the best way to handle this? I thought for sure that clearHistory() would do it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an application with a single Activity implemented as a singleton (in the AndroidManifest). It implements a Listener I wrote. When the application is first run the Listener works fine. When I use the "home" button to minimize it, then open it again it's still fine.
But when I press the back button then run it again from the application icon, the Listener doesn't work fully. The code runs and the Listening methods are called as usual but none of the UI elements that are listening update. It requires a restart of the phone to get the listener working again after this point.
I know the "back" button doesn't really close the application, per se. But resetting the phone sure does! Is there a way to use the onDestroy() or similar method to call a function that actually closes the application? I'm asking because restarting the phone is the only way to get the listener back so I was hoping I could do that programmatic ally.
For example, my progress bar is a member variable of my Activity, but onCreate() I do "progressBar = (ProgressBar) findViewById(R.id.progress_bar);" Is this perhaps creating a separate instance of it or something?
I used two image button for Next and Back and i used onclick event for those button i want to which image button fire on onclick and run particular function for next or back in onclick event how will i get which image button fire or onclick event at runtime.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a ListView and an ExpandableListView inside of a TabActivity. I have overridden the setOnItemClickListener for the ListView. I have 2 tabs and one uses the ListView and the other uses the ExpandableListView. For some reason I cannot click on any of the items in the first ListView. If I change tabs to the ExpandableListView and then go back to the first tab it will then allow me to click on the items as usual. Any ideas on why this is happening. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have following problem with my application: From my main activity ("activity 1"), there is a menu from which user can launch an action. This action will result in an Intent being received by a BroadcastReceiver, defined in my application. Finally, this BroadcastReceiver will start an activity ("activity 2") to deal with this intent.
The problem is that I have a "quit application" entry in my menu, and I can only finish() currently active activity. ie I am not able to finish "activity 1" from the menu of "activity 2". And I can't use startActivityForResult() as "activity 2" can't be started from "activity 1". Any suggestion would be much appreciated Thank you very much guys, regards.

startActivity() displays the new Activity on top of the current one. But how to display it underneath instead? BTW, I'm starting an Activity from another application, if that makes a difference.

I have an application with contains multiple activities. The main activity will start the others ( use startActivity() ) depends on user event, when an activity close, it calls finish() and return back to main activity. It appears to behavior like that.
However, the "problem" I see is main activity's onCreate function is called every time. I think the the main activity should be placed in the activity stack and simply push to front when others exit, therefore only onResume, onStart are called. Is there some flag I need to set or I misunderstand the activity behaviro?
In child activity, besides calling finish() or startActivity for main activity, what is other way to move main activity to front?
example scenario is: from login screen - main screen - then when i clicked a hide button the app will go to home screen, and when im going to click the app again the main screen would be called.

I have an application which has 2 screens. When a value is changed in the second screen and when the first screen is called, the value must be updated on the button of first screen.
But I am not able to update the value on any of the widget of first screen. But I am able to see that I am getting the value, But when it comes to updating the same on button it does not happen.
