View 12 RepliesI displayed map and on top of map, I displayed a number of overlay Items(Markers). Clicking on overlay Items or markers will do some action. But the problem is when I click around the marker, means outside the marker, at that time also, the event triggers. I want to restrict that exactly when I am clicking on the marker, event has to take place. I am doing the event in opTap() method.
How can I restrict the event triggering to exactly when I click on the marker.
I'm missing something here; i'm not quite sure what... I'm trying to open another window from same application when the user click on a list item.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Dialog window created via the onCreateDialog() callback of my Actvity. In the Dialog I would like to allow the user to enter an email address or to select a contact from their contact list and have the email address populated based on their choice. This can be accomplished using code...
However since the Dialog is not itself an Activity I cannot use this method, the best I can do is
context.startActivity()
How can I launch the contact list from a Dialog and get a result?
I am displaying web content in a WebView but I am having issues to identify when the user presses a cancel button which should close the current window. The cancel button is defined as follows in the page source code: <input value="Cancel" name="cancel" type="button" onclick="window.close();There are other buttons which I am able to handle using shouldOverrideUrlLoading() but since this cancel buttons does not attempt to open a new page, this is not working. Does anyone know if there is a way to intercept this cancel? By the way, when cancel button is pressed nothing happens.

I am using an activity with the dialog theme set, and I want it to be full screen. I tried all sorts of things, even going through the WindowManager to expand the window to full width and height manually, but nothing works. Apparently, a dialog window (or an activity with the dialog theme) will only expand according to its contents, but even that doesn't always work. For instance, I show a progress bar circle which has width and height set to FILL_PARENT (so does its layout container), but still, the dialog wraps around the much smaller progress bar instead of filling the screen. There must be a way of displaying something small inside a dialog window but have it expand to full screen size without its content resizing as well?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI wanted to change the frame around my Dialog. So I set up a style...
And yay! I get my new frame. However, the parent window disappears (goes black).
Having a normal dialog: <activity android:name=".MyActivity" android:theme="@android:style/ Theme.Dialog"> keeps the parent window visible.
Can I have a custom frame on a dialog and keep the parent window visible?
I have an activity which starts with a progress bar and I do not want the progress bar to go away until the processing is done, I have set the dialog to be setCancelable(false) so now user cannot cancel it with back but there are several other situations which hides the dialog for eg pressing 'search'.On clicking of 'search' button the search box and keyboard pops up,back button hides it and shows my activity which is always in the background but the dialog is gone.I can disable the search button but ideally I would want dialog to come back when the activity comes in foreground again. Any ideas how to do it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am developing a utility and facing an issue. The following describes what i intend to achieve: User will click on "Submit"Button. User will be prompted a confirm dialog box. On "No" , it will return. "Yes" click will take it to a method which does some processing. As processing can take sometime, i want to show loading bar after user clicks "Yes" in confirm dialog box. However, When i click "Yes"; the dialog box remains there and i can't see th progress bar.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a custom dialog that extends Dialog. One button on that the dialog is an "OK" button which the user is expected to press when finished entering information in other fields. I cannot get any listeners set to that button to fire.
public class HeightDialog extends Dialog {
private Button okButton;
@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.heightdialog);
this.okButton = (Button)this.findViewById(R.id.userOkWithHeight);
this.okButton.setOnClickListener(new android.view.View.OnClickListener() {................
Is there any way (the best way) to avoid this happening? I am using a ProgressDialog which has one cancel button. On clicking the cancel button I want to disable the cancel button and change the message to "Canceling...". That bit's easy. Only once the cancellation has been fully processed do I want to dismiss the dialog. The only way I can think of is to use a custom layout but I would rather keep the default dialog look and feel (rather than trying to simulate it with my own code).

What is the basic difference between the PhoneWindow and MidWindow policies? I found that the emulator version takes the implementations of the PhoneWindow.When the MidWindow implementations will be used? Also, I found that PhoneWindow handles the call settings implementation and the same is not there in MidWindow? Please someone help me pointing out the differences between both the policies and under which circumstances which one will be used.

I have just started my career as an android programmer, and am currently relying heavily on the sample code and api examples. I have been working with this api example, to produce an expandable list of items (note this example does not use the ExpadableListView).In playing with the example, I tried to add another widget that would become visible and be gone at the same time as the text (mDialogue in the sample code). This works well with another TextView, but as soon as I tried to add a button widget, it stopped working. The list would expand on first click, showing my hidden TextView and Button, but it will not disappear on further clicks. The button is however, clickable, and I was able to set up an onClick listener to change the button text back and forth.I'm starting to wonder, is it just not possible to have a clickable item inside a clickable list item? Or is there some kind of work around? Would it solve my problem if I used ExpandableListView?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem about repeating Login dialog (an AlertDialog) and progress dialog, coordinating with http thread. I suppose repetitive Login dialog (if fail, continue) handling should be common and straightforward. I guess my approach must be wrong somewhere. I already spent 2 days on this and am desperate. So please help. User starts the app, the main activity starts.Show a login dialog (generated by the main thread, i.e. from on Create. The main thread then starts a wait_thread, which will wait for http to return data and check the data and decide what to do.After user input username/password and press login, a progress dialog starts.The progress dialog starts an http_thread to talk to the server and get replies. Once done, it will notify the waiting thread.If the user type in the right username password first time, the code works fine.But it always fail for 2nd time Login, i.e. When first login fail(wrong username/ password),the wait_thread will generate 2nd Login dialog to let user repeat the login process. But after user hit the login on this 2nd Login dialog, the system always crashes.
