Android :: Gmail Address Book On Web Contains Field For Birthdays - Why Not In Address Book

Sep 10, 2009

The Gmail address book on the Web contains a field for birthdays, so why not the Android address book? While I'm sure the app could undergo a lot of changes (and everyone would have different ideas) something as basic as a birthday seems obvious.

HTC Incredible :: Address Book And Facebook Synced But Still Different?

Nov 5, 2010

I have a friend that texted me and his name, number, and facebook picture came up as expected. Later on when I went to call him, turns out he isn't in my "People" application. However, if I click the search button within the "People" app and look for his name he comes right up. If I open his contact info up, I can't add him to my contacts or anything like that. Do "Facebook Only" contact not show in the People app?

HTC Incredible :: Compose Text For Random Person In Address Book

May 4, 2010

I'm using Handcent (recent convert from BB) I have a few shortcuts setup for frequent persons I text but wondered the fastest way to compose a text for a random person in my address book. Here's what I've done:

1. press Handcent
2. press top left icon for new message
3. press + sign
4. scroll list for contact
5. press check mark
6. press check mark to select mobile phone
7. press ok
8. press menu
9. press "end select"
10. compose text.
so, that's nuts. The other way I've tried is:
1.press people shortcut
2. scroll list for contact
3. press contact
4. Look at the 3 entries for "send message" (my example contact) and try and remember which is the cell phone.
5. press send message.
6. compose text

So I guess the second way is better but I'd rather not have to figure which is the cell phone and rather than scrolling to find the name I'd rather type first letters of name.

HTC Incredible :: Forget Google Map Address Book App / Create Groups In Contacts

Jul 13, 2010

This is for people who use GPS a lot. Before I would create groups just for my texting, but Navigation works great too. Took a wine trip to Santa Barbara. Had a few places (hotel, boat cruise, wineries, Santa Barbara Mission, some restaurants, that taco stand Julia Child made famous, etc.), and just created a contact for each. No inputting on phone or using voice, it's already done.Had concert @ Hollywood Bowl. They have shuttle service at some offsite locations like the LA Zoo or in Studio City. I just create a group called Concerts, and copy and paste address from website.Meeting friend at bar never been to? Already have a Group called Bars. Just copy and paste address, and your done.I have groups for everything. Family, San Francisco, San Diego friends, Hotels, Bars, sporting venues, whatever. I cross link whenever I can, Just hit People and slide over to Groups. The whole goal for me is just to hit buttons, and not have to input anything when I'm on run. Use it like AppBrain. So much easier to manage everything from Google contacts page. Just copy and paste eveything.Best part is, can delete or add anytime. Also saves me battery since doing stuff on computer, and everything is synced automatically.

HTC Incredible :: Choosing Favorite Gives Error Message / Show Whole Address Book Entry

Sep 20, 2010

I have 9 Favorites set up on my Incredible, 8 of them work perfectly (I have them fixed up so that when I choose the person, the entire address card comes up so I can choose to call, email, text or whatever), and the ninth (set up only to place a telephone call) used to work perfectly, now not so much. When I select the contact, I get a message that says "Call not sent, no valid number entered".I have looked at his address card, and all seems correct.I have not changed anything so really don't know what is going on.I thought maybe if I deleted this one contact and then re-added, it would fix it, but when I try to delete this one, the phone looks like it wants to delete the other 8 as well, and I really don't want to have to set this up again (actually, can't remember how I got them to show the whole address book entry).

General :: Correct Address Format In Address Book And GPS

Jan 23, 2013

I like to add addresses to my phone book in Android. As a lot of my contacts live in buildings i also like to add the floor and apartment number to the address: Looking like that:

Street and Number, Floor and Department number
Town, zip code
State
Country

Example;

Av. Whatever 12345, Floor 5-A
Buenos Aires 1007
Argentina

When clicking on the address the GPS of my wish opens , finds the country, city but not the street because of the additional Floor and department information. Without this additional information everything well with Google Maps or Sygic.

So, how should i add this additional Floor and department information to my address without the GPS has problems to find the main location. Also from ICS on there is only one filed to add the whole address not as with Gingerbread where you had a field for street, city, etc.

HTC Desire :: Address Book Only Gives One Line Of Address

May 30, 2010

Just getting used to my HTC Desire, after reading your forum I was comforted regarding battery life and it seems much better now than the first few days.
I see another post on this but no answer, the address book only gives one line of the address is then any way round this? Even my first pda a Psion 3 had the option of which fields to display etc. there seems very little option to format what is seen, not that I am unhappy about the rest but to have to edit to see all the address is barmy.
Another thing way back then that still is not found is search all fields of the contacts, i.e. to find a number of someone that rang on another phone.

Instead, the full gmail address (aka [a bunch of gibberish] @gmail.com). How do I change the name on the address book to use the old phone contact instead of the gmail contact name? I tried adding a nickname to the gmail contact under "edit contact" but all if did was change how the person's name shows up on gmail chat on my computer.

HTC Hero :: How To Use An Android Address Book?

Jan 27, 2010

Could someone please explain to me how to use the address book? I'm so irritated with how user unfriendly the address book... and every contact I've ever contacted is, that I'm nearly ready to jump ship. Usually I go to the dialer, and just type in a name. For instance, when people ask me my work cell number, I have to look it up. Normally, I'll go to the dialer, type in the first three letters of my name, then select the icon on the right to go to my entry. Easy. But when I'm on a call, and someone asks for my number, I go to "people" (or what seems to be the address book) and I type the first three letters of my name and every entry for James Kever shows up as James Kever. So my work number, my email address, my home number... every entry for me shows up... but ONLY shows up as James Kever. I have no idea which of the four entries is my work number. It's the same when I search for other people. I have 6 entries for my brother... all of them say Chris Kever.

HTC Hero :: Searching By Organisation In Address Book

On my old Windows Mobile phone in my address book I had companies listed in the "Organisations" field. They appeared in alphabetical order amongst the normal surname, forename entries and it worked really well. While searching my phone desperately for an urgent number today I found that not only does it not display the organisation but it refuses to search by it, making a good 25% of my numbers impossible to find. What can I do this, and please don't say go through all of my contacts by hand putting the business name in the "surname" field because that is so rubbish.

Android :: Is There A App - Widget For A Full Address Book

Jul 27, 2010

New to the sight and the android world. I have been using the iphone for several years and I upgraded to the iphone 4 and took it back after 30 days. It kept dropping calls and I got discussed with Apple and their BS fix.
I picked up the Samsung Captivate and I'm still getting used to the new phone.
I will say that I have NOT Dropped a call

I like that I can customize the phone ++ but I've been reading about the Launcher Pro is it worth getting with the Captivate?

My main question is the contacts is only for phone numbers, is there a app /widget for a full address book? I need one with Name, number, address, email
I'm hoping that this Captivate works out for me..
