General :: Custom Boot Animation Goes To Black Screen

Apr 6, 2014

I'm trying to make my own boot animation (A simple android kitkat logo), but when I put it in /system/media/ and reboot the phone, it goes to black screen.

I followed the steps described in that guide and read that post, but they didn't share the solution and the mediafire link is dead. I'm attaching my current

Samsung I7500 :: Own Custom Animation For Boot Up Screen

Dec 16, 2009

I've seen the Motorola Droid users doing this, but I'd like my own custom animation for the boot up screen on the Galaxy. Anyone know how you go about that? I tried copying a file in there as per the Droid instructions but looks like the Galaxy doesn't use it. Where are the boot up screen/animations stored on the Galaxy?

Motorola Droid :: Custom Boot Animation / Screen Adjustment

Sep 5, 2010

I have this animation I made but I'm not that knowledgeable with the desc.txt file. My part0 folder is below could someone please write the desc.txt file, zip it and get it working for me please. I'd like it to stretch the width of the screen and the height doesn't matter. I have it currently at 480x240 and like it there. I've tried a few times but I keep getting the dreaded black screen.

Motorola Droid :: Custom Boot Animation / Stretched Out In Full Screen Mode

Mar 26, 2010

I made a boot animation. Not great but I am trying. Anyway, I can get it to look right when it is set to the center of the screen (480x427 not full screen) but when I set it to 480x854 (full screen) it gets stretched out. I was told the png files had to be 256x256 so I don't know what I could change so it doesn't look stretched. My animation looks like my avatar that I made and it looks just like it does here before applying the 854 settings. After seeing a lot of other custom boots mine isn't looking so good.

General :: Can't Get Past Boot Animation On Custom ROM

Jan 11, 2013

compile a ROM based on CM10; what would make that ROM go into a never-ending boot animation on a clean flash (wipe data/cache/dalvik), yet boot up without a problem when dirty flashed over a CM9 variant. One might think that since a dirty flash over CM9 works, what about dirty flashing over a CM10 variant? What if it acts just like performing a clean flash and never gets past the boot animation?

Lets compound this by adding that once a successful boot-up after the dirty CM9 flash has occured; if one goes into recovery and wipes data/cache/dalvik, the ROM goes back into a never-ending boot animation.

General :: Bricked Arc S Stuck On Black Screen At Boot Up

Apr 27, 2012

So I was trying out the CM7 for xperia arc by the freexperia team. It was epic. so i also tried the CM9 release by them..

-> I downloaded the CM9 anzu for my arc S
-> Extracted the files
-> Used fastboot to flash boot.img
-> And then: fastboot reboot

Instead of the FreeXperia splash screen welcoming me.. i was given a black screen.. The phone does turn on.. but then there is nothing. No splash screens. nothing.

Is there anyway to boot straight into CWM?? recovery?? Did i brick my phone for good?

General :: Pixelated Screen After Boot Logo Before Animation

Apr 25, 2012

Recently I flashed to this ROM [URL] .... from a stock ROM. Have done it a few times before and no problems have occurred. It's an MIUI rom and I decided to customize the theme a little. The themes section allows to change most of the detail ie fonts, status bar, home screen, lock screen, icons, boot animation.

And that's where it started, when I changed the boot animation, instead of using the default one. When I did a reboot after the switch, the usual boot logo was up, but then the screen turned pixelated like a CRT monitor/damaged LCD screen with colourful pixels. But then in boot into the new animation all fine, and has been ok since. The device boots fine, but I'm worried about that pixelated screen.

HTC Eris :: Custom Boot Animation - Sound

Jul 22, 2010

I pretty much have the custom boot animations figured out... It seems to work whether I put in /data/local or /system/media no problem... but the one thing I can't figure out is how to get a sound to play. I've tried every combination I can think of... boot.mp3 in the zip file, android_audio.mp3 in the zip file... tried the zip without the mp3, just placing the mp3 in the same directory as the zip (and also tried both names that way, in both directories stated above). Is there something I'm supposed to add to the desc.txt file? What am I missing? The only info I can find for the Eris is just "put a boot.mp3 in the zip file" which is just not working...

Motorola Droid :: Looking For Custom Boot Animation

Mar 20, 2010

Was wondering if there is anyone out there on this forum that might make me a custom boot animation. I suck at photoshop. I have tried to do it but it looks terrible. The one I want should be simple (I think)for a person who knows what they are doing. All I want is the stock boot animation droid word highlighted in neon green like a lot of blue ones I see where it splashes blue with highlights and the red eye turned the same neon green with my name highlighted neon green like the word droid but name will be above the eye. Kind of like this but with my name from sort of beginning to end.

HTC EVO 4G :: Custom Boot Animation / Speed Of Display

Oct 16, 2010

I have a custom boot animation on my phone that I downloaded and it works but I would like to show it down a little bit. It runs through the animation really fast. If it was a little short it would be great. If I go into the boot there are two files. One is a file that just has a few numbers in it the other is a bunch of pictures. Does that number file determine the speed it displays those pictures?

HTC EVO 4G :: 2.2 Update And Custom Boot Animation With Sound

Aug 1, 2010

So prior to manually installing the 2.2 update, I had a custom boot animation with sound. The update ran fine, no issues, and I knew I would have to re-install the custom boot animation files. However, I followed the same steps as I did prior to 2.2 (see below), and again, no errors. After reboot, I'm still seeing the Sprint 4G boot screen. Can anyone else confirm? Looks to me like it's been locked down.

From XDA:
adb push /data/local
adb push android_audio.mp3 /data/local
adb reboot

General :: Lenovo S890 Black Screen In Custom ROM

Jun 26, 2013

I installed custom ROM on my Lenovo S890 phone, which works great and has all I need. But there is this problem (similar like in this post [URL] .....). When I try wake up the phone from standby mode, all I see is a dark screen with vertical stripes of several colors all over it. I can however set volume and even the display responses after pushing buttons it vibrates. So it works, but the screen is broken.

When I install original ROM, everything works fine. But when I install any of these custom ROMs found on [URL] .... I have the same issue with the screen.

I'm currently trying to fix this problem with software jBART v0.7.9 - I decompiled the original ROM that works fine and also decompiled the custom ROM I want to fix. Then I'm trying to copy files from original to custom ROM, hoping somehow I overwrite possibly broken files and everything should work afterwards.

General :: Custom Bootanimation Don't Work - Black Screen

Aug 9, 2010

I wanted to create a simple bootanimation for my HTC Desire. I found a couple of websites explaining pretty much everything from folder structure to the contents of desc.txt, so I started playing around a little bit.

However after pushing my first customized bootanimation to the phone, all I get is a black screen after the initial HTC logo.

I already tried using desc.txt files from different bootanimations that I found on the web. I even extracted and re-zipped a downloaded bootanimation so I could see if that could possibly be the problem. But none could solve my black screen.

At least I think I have narrowed down the problem to the png files I use. My last guess is, that I save those files using the wrong settings.

I use Photoshop CS 5 using the following workflow:

First I create the frames that I want in my animation (just like build a GIF file). The I opened File-->Export-->Render Video. Then I select "Image Sequence", choose PNG, disable interlacing in the settings and finally choose a 480x800 resolution. Alpha channel is set to "None".

After that I use IrfanView to change the image color depth to 24bit and save the files in the part0 folder. None of my files is bigger than 30 KB.

My folder structure looks like this:

My desc.txt looks like this:

480 800 30
p 0 0 part0

After zipping the folders and the desc.txt without compression, I push the files to my phone. But when I try to watch it, all I get is a black screen.

I attached my When I download bootanimations from the web, it works just fine.

Astro greys out the create folder button. What am I missing? Also I saw that you can ADB push it. WTF does that mean? I know how to do some fastboot stuff, is it the same? Also I have modified my boot logo and no longer have the "M" its now a lot nicer. I will include the in case anyone wants this. Just place it in the /data/local/ folder. Do not Unzip it, leave it how it is. If you have another one there just rename it with a .bak extension in case you don't like mine. Its stretched a little vertically, not sure why not too noticeable tough.

General :: Galaxy S4 Custom ROM - No Sound / Black Screen On Call?

Jan 5, 2014

I have an issue since i start installing custom ROMS. So, is not my first time installing a ROM. I have installed stock ROM's in the past. However, not custom ones. I have rooted my device in the past and even now before installing a custom ROM. I have installed through TWRP recovery various custom ROMS such as Omega, AOSP, ARROW, WanamLite, Google Edition and CyanogenMod but none of them worked fine for me.

In some ROMS I might not have reception (don't worry the IMEI is the same and backed up). However, in EVERY ROM my dialler crashes; for example, when im trying to make a call it freezes and the screen goes black without seeing anything. On the other hand, when I receive a call, screen takes ages to appear and show the caller or even accept the call. In addition, I have NO SOUND at all in every ROM as well.

I believe that the kernel might be the problem. This is because when i am booting the phone I always see the following:

I have tried clearing cache, dalvik, removing battery, installing stock ROMS etc.... and nothing changed!

Motorola Droid :: Custom Boot Animation / Image Resizing

Aug 11, 2010

I am trying to put a custom boot animation on my moto droid 1. I have root I have done it before and I am using froyo. My big problem now is that I tried putting a different one I downloaded on and it worked. So I need someone to tell me whats wrong with the one I made, because I am out of ideas. I have compared size, resolution, ppi, bit depth but for some reason my images are way bigger files. The sequence was created by using virtualdub to clip a section of an animated short, then exporting an image sequence as png.

But I've fed the images through gimp and an image resizer. The frames are only some of them because I went through deleting every other frame a few times to cut down on the total size. The file is too big to attach here so i put it on my web space at:
I am using the patch that lets me put the files in datalocal and be named it works I've tried with other animations like I said.
