Android :: Image Uploading To The Device

Sep 23, 2010

I have an application that requires that some images are uploaded to the device and replaced when the image changes.

For example, the first time the application is opened it goes ot the server and downloads some images, then the second time it verifies if there are new images to be downloaded, if there are it downloads them.

What could be the best approach to store the images on the device? creating a file folder for the application and a content provider?

Uploading External Image From Website?

May 16, 2014

My webpage has images that upload to the phone when the page is viewed and dropped when the page is closed. I do this to reduce mobile device memory requirements. I use a path that points at the image location and name.

Sadly image does not load on Android devices. However everything works fine on blackberry, i-phone, i-pad etc. Usually Apple is the most restrictive device.

What is different about Android that prevents the external images loading?

Android :: Uploading An Image In A Multipart Message - Sample Code

May 10, 2009

In response to a request over here: http://bit.ly/E1Qqm

This is some sample code for uploading an image to the web, as part of a multipart message. It assumes that the photo is stored on the SD card as "photo.jpg". You'll need to download and add a couple of jar files to the project's built path - commons-httpclient.jar and httpcomponents-client-4.0-alpha4.

It is working on my device. However (big caveats here) - it's much slower than I would like, and much slower than other applications I've installed that upload photos. It also feels hacky - e.g. the way the background thread communicates problems with the upload to the main thread using variables. I'm sure there must be a neater way to do it.

If you figure out a way to improve the code,

code:............

Anyone know of any reason why I would still get this message?

I'm looking for an embeddable webserver for an android project I am working on. ijetty is to big for me, I'm just trying to serve some static content don't need an entire servlet container. Something like http://java.sun.com /javase /6/docs/jre/api/net/httpserver/spec/com/sun would be useful, but probably still overkill for what I need.

HTC EVO 4G :: 3G Always On Downloading/Uploading

Jun 23, 2010

Today I noticed my pocket was getting a little warm. Check my phone anand my battery was getting pretty low even though I have not used it at all today. Check back in about 10 minutes and it had droped another 10% and the 3G at the top was staying lit as well as both arrows. I turned off the phone and turn it back on. Still same thing. Download ATK and killed everything. I gave up when it made it from 35% to 10% in about an hour. After plugging in and leaving it for an hour it has been fine.

Uploading App To Tablet Through USB?

May 1, 2012

I'm only getting started writing Android applications, and am stuck at how to connect a couple of Android tablets (one from Medion, the other from Archos) to Windows (XP and 7) so that Basic4Android can upload applications.

When I connect those tablets, Windows just adds them as external drives.I guess the AVD Manager is only used to create emulators, not connect an Android device to Windows through USB. Do I need to run another SDK application? Install a specific USB driver?

HTC EVO 4G :: Data Won't Stop Uploading

Oct 24, 2010

I have netcounter installed on my phone so that I can watch my data transfer. I enjoy seeing how much I transfer and on average I transfer 150 to 200 megs. The last two days, I have done very little on my phone. To my surprise I open upt netcounter to see that i did over 205 megs yesterday and so far today I am at 175 megs. When I look to see where the data is coming from..it shows it is almost all Upload data. The graph shows that it started yesterday. My worry is that there is some kinda virus on here or something. I can not imagine what would be non stop uploading. How can I find out what is currently using my data.

HTC EVO 4G :: Uploading Video To Facebook

Jul 5, 2010

im having problems uploading videos to facebook from my evo. tried some different methods such as getting a special email address from facebook for my account so i can email videos to my profile...it works fine for photos but will not post videos from my evo ( 3gp format issue?) i hate qik and have read about people using that to upload videos to facebook. tried it and with me its either a hit or a miss meaning sometimes it uploads and other times it doesnt ( and most of my videos are not huge usually 14 seconds and always under 30 seconds)

dont get me started on that i have to dial down the quality of the video from 720p to something that looks like a pixelated mess to upload videos to facebook in a timely manner..i dont like to wait hours or days for a video to finish uploading and yes i do it over wifi and no its not a slow connection i guess im wondering if theres a way that doesnt involve transferring files to my pc converting them to another format and uploading from there...or is there an app that works atleast 90% of the time to upload videos from my evo without having to first upload them to a secondary site and then link to facebook? i just have a hard time accepting the fact that it was painless uploading videos to facebook from a dumbphone and that its such a huge pain on my evo

Android :: Uploading APK From Computer?

Aug 17, 2009

I have a softkeyboard code that I am trying to install on my device. I was able to debug and run on my device it using eclipse, it works well as long as the USB cable is connected (of course, once I disconnect it it stops working). I tried adb install as well, that works for a few sample applications I used but not for the softkeyboard (maybe because it is an input method service?). When I try to change the input method it shows me my application name in the list but does not render it on the screen.

Android :: Uploading Apps

Dec 3, 2009

I wanted to give my app is too long for the small icon. However looking at the market, I notice that other people have got around this by giving a longer name to the app that appears on the market list, and a shorter name to the app itself once it is installed.

For example, the is a calculator app called "RealCalc Scientific Calculator" but when you install it it just appears as "Calculator".

How do I go about this? Does the market ask you for an app name when you upload, where you can put anything you like?

Also, what about the actual .apk filename - is that important, and have any bearing on the name that appears when someone downloads the app?

HTC Desire :: Uploading Videos To You Tube Via 3G

Sep 24, 2010

I know this has been asked about the Motorola Droid, but I was wondering the same thing about the HTC Desire, Uploading you tube videos via 3g network. When I've taken a video using my phone, I have the option to share it by sending it to You Tube (annoyingly this creates another Google account on my phone, but never mind). More annoying is the fact that it waits until I'm connected to a wi-fi network before allowing me to upload it. Surely if I want to use my data allowance to upload videos to You Tube, that's my business, but I can't find a setting that allows me to change this. According to HTC, this is a change that T-Mobile must have made. I'm not convinced by this, but I'd like to know what other people have found, and whether there are any easy ways around it. Still being fairly new to Android, I don't fancy rooting the phone. I'm using Android 2.1.
