View 15 Replies View RelatedOver all of xperia x10 is quite good, nice design, awesome OS , 8.1 camera, very useful media/time scape and a huge 4'' screen.Despite its large screen, the only thing that bring the rating down is the 65k colours. No multi-touch input is all right because most phone out there still having the same capacitive touchscreen, but the 65 colours is really unforgiven.
In early specifications review, SE said that its capable of 16m colours but just that 65k effective colors under Android OS v1.6 but now, according to the recent SE product blog (http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/2010/11/01/more-info-on-the-updates/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+sonyericsson%2Fproducts+%28Product+Blog%29) ,
There are no 16m colours screen anymore. I though no 16m is because software limitation but not its a HARDWARE issue. The different is so much obvious when I view a same picture and a video with Vivaz. Image projection wit x10 look dull but Vivaz picture look better, brighter (set to full brightness) and the colour look richer/darker when viewing the same video. I hope the announcement from the blog is not true, and hope that x10 is 16m colours ready as stated in GSM ARENA review [url] . BUT, overall of this phone are pretty impressive,and actually im having 1 of this. Everything from in and out is pretty good and awesome. Hope everyone in this forum could give their point of view or opinion on the 65k colours screen and wish SE could confirm with us that wheather its 16m ready.
"Better" includes, but is not limited to:
- pure aesthetics
- timelessness
- desirable after it gets older/dirtier/worn
So they've made up my mind for me. It's going to have to be Black for me. No way I'm going with Orange.

Im curious, am i the only one who's getting quite annoyed about the glaring too bright white LED light that comes from the buttons? its almost as annoying as the early PDA's which had piercing blue flashing bluetooth indicators....
View 11 Replies View RelatedI was unable to receive MMS messages since upgrading to 2.1. I spoke to voda and now have the fix for anyone having problems. It may work on other networks, it may not, but it definitely sorted it for me on vodafone. Anyway, here goes:
Click on settings.
Click on Wireless & Networks.
Click on Mobile Networks.
Click on Access Point Names.
Click the Menu Button, (Left hand silver button at bottom of phone).
Click Reset To Default.
Once you have done the above, turn off your phone, remove your battery and sim card, and wait at least 10 seconds and then replace your sim card and battery. Turn your phone back on and job done, you can now receive MMS texts again. But do note, any previously received MMS texts will still be un-openable so you will need to ask the sender to resend.
Backed up my phone (x10) and then updated to 2.1. I then restored the data and everything was restored (apps etc.) but not contacts, the main thing I wanted to restore, I keep going back to restore the phone and it keeps saying that the contacts have been restored, but they haven't.

Is there anyway I can retrieve my contacts? I do hope so?! Or will cry. I've also had to re install the apps one by one too? A couple didn't restore at all? But the contacts is the main one!

Yesterday I updated my x10 to 2.1 and now when in a call the screen goes black and there is no response when i press any of the button.Ultimately meaning i cant end the call.really annoying now my mates know this and just keep the call going so i use my minutes.any suggestions?

View 10 Replies View RelatedFor about 3 - 4 weeks ago, I had a problem with my phone after updating the firmware, that there would be some source code running in the right side of the screen, I wrote about it in here and some one told me that I should use pc companion to reset my phone, I did it and it helped or at least I thought it helped. The day after my phone ran out off battery, and when it was charged I turned on my phone and the proble was there again, and since then, every time the phone is turned off and back on again I can start with resetting the phone too get the source code away.
So what can I do? Can I restore to the original firmware again or is that impossible? Because I'm so close of throwing the phone on the ground from 3'rd floor and go back to my iphone again. Another problem, I use the program in the phone to backup all my contacts, sms, call info and so on, but when I restore after a reset ALL my contacts is gone, and yes I have marked the contacts to be backed up.
too any one who has updated to 2.1 is there an option to close the slidy thingy bar to unlock the phone. I have a password on mine so I dont need that bar.

The emails will initially update after reboot, but won't update again until the next reboot. I've gone into "Email" and set my "Email check frequency" to every 5 minutes, but this does not seem to have any effect on Timescape.

I have an X10 mini and plugged it into my computer 'PC Companion' prompted an update and restart of the phone this installed the backup and restore app which is fine but also a demo of a game called 'roller coaster' the demo lasted like 5 minutes and I'd like to uninstall it but can't do it the usual way as it wasn't from market place? Any suggestions?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought my phone 3 months ago and I had no problem with it "except the usual low in-call volume and battery life" but then I went on and I updated to R2BA026 firmware. First I did it OTA and the phone started restarting by itself and entering into constant restart loops. So I though it was a defective update and reupdated the device through SEUS to the same version but the problem is still there. The only way to get the device out of the restart loop is to take out the battery for few minutes and then put it back and start it, it works fine for a day or two and then it does the same thing and the problem appears again. I tried removing all applications and removing the memory card but the problem still appears and there is nothing I can do about.

I was surprised that SONY is not providing a software which enables the user to sync the Xperia X10 mini pro directly with your computer (e.g. Outlook).
After wasting a lot of time I generated an account at Sony webpage and managed all my accounts including "birthday" but now I found out that the
phone is not creating a corresponding calendar entry and therefore my phone is not reminding me for any birthday.
So I did some modding (unfortunately) to the framework-res.apk file and it worked the first time and a few other times but then I changed something and now when I turn on the phone it freezes at the "Sony Ericsson" screen before the logo. What do I do?
I tried pushing the backup framework file but it says "failed to copy framework-res.apk to /sdcard/framework-res.apk: Permission denied
However, when I use adb devices, it does show my device as being attached.
So what can I do now?
I was also able to pull files...
Also tried manually putting the framework-res.apk in the sdcard and then using adb to copy it to the framework folder. Doesnt work. Saids that the directory cannot be open for read. I guess the device cant read the SD card until it boots up.
I saw that there are already a number of discussions about sony erricson synchronization but I cannot find one for this specific message: Synchronization failed. It wouldn't tell me why it failed, it just spits out that generic message after I click "Finish" in the Sony Ericsson Sync Client Wizard.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'd like to use my X10 to keep all of my contacts' postal addresses in instead of the tatty old address book I carry in my handbag(!) I didn't fancy typing them all into the phone, so thought I would use the Sony Ericsson sync and put them into the pc first via the PC Companion sync application, and set up the sync to transfer them into my phone. I have tried a test run adding only a couple of addresses to my contacts on the pc, and adding one to my phone, but when I do a sync, the addresses don't transfer either way. I know that the actual sync is working because I added photos too and they transfer....... I must be doing something wrong that is easily rectified?
