Samsung I7500 : Could Send An MMS But Not Receive Them
May 7, 2010
A friend tried to send me a message with a voice attached the other day. I did not receive it. I contacted Optus in Australia and they went through my MMS settings with me. The strange thing was I could send an MMS, but not receive them. After much fiddling around I found that a title had to be put into the message or a message typed. I then received the MMS and was able to download the attached file. Has anyone else had this problem with the Galaxy or do you think it may be an Optus problem?

I have this weird problem with messaging. I do not receive more than 10 (around) SMS.. To receive the 11th SMS, I'll have to restart the Phone literally.. I tried many Networks and SIM cards.. but the problem continues on every service provider.. The Customer Care guy talks nothing more than the Service Center Number which is fed correct in the phone.. I thought the problem is with the phone software and rooted it .. Tried GalaxoROM, and 1.6 Donut firmwares too.. but nothing fruitful..
This might be small setting problem or a similar thing.. but is a real big pain.. I'm having a conversation with friends and after few messages I do not receive his replies.. There is no problem with sending SMS.. my every message reaches the destination.. problem is only with the receiving messages..
Restart the phone and after few mins, I receive all those pending messages one by one..
I know you guys are champs in this field.. any solution would give a big relief to this frustrated human..

Ok here's my situation (as you see im still using galaxy ) so today i received MMS but all i get is download button and when i press it i get download unsuccesfull. want to say that have 3g on, VPN setup to different settings suggested on various forums for O2 simplicity. so tried on all of them still unsuccesfull. tried on both normal messaging app and handsent sms still the same. dont know what to do. still its not a problem coz normally i dont use it for mms but today i received one and can't open it.
huh spent most of the day trying to figure out how to do it and i guess the only place where i could possibly get an answer is here, from loyal galaxy sufferers so if anyone got the same problem and managed to resolve it please share this knowledge with me.

Since I picked up my Captivate yesterday, I have been unable to send sms messages. I noticed under Messaging/Settings that the "Message Center" is not set. Could that be the problem? Could some of you take a look at what your "Message Center" is set to?

I can't send or receive MMS on my new Galaxy S. I called Orange helpline and they talked me through set up - it worked for me to send one and receive one and then stopped working once I had switched the phone off (to recharge). The settings are still there although it will not let me select any other setting as there is only a green dot selection for one (there are three altogether - the manufactor one, one that was sent to me via SMS and a manual one). It is not possible to select any other one but settings on all three seem to be the same. When I receive one it just says 'downloading'. If you click on it it just tells you what sort of message it is and there are no other options. The problem is, if I type a really long text it converts to MMS which will then not send. So..I can't send or receive MMS's. Any suggestions?

Is there a way to select a contact in the Contacts app and then share the contact details with another contact via SMS or email? Perhaps this is a 1.5 deficiency. If so, does anyone if it has been addressed in future builds?

I'm considering getting a HTC Desire to replace my Nokia N95. One of the features I use a lot is the Nokia PC Suite's ability to send/receive SMS using my PC. I sometimes send upwards of 1000 SMS's per month, and can't see myself enjoying any phone which doesn't have this software.

Is there an app to send and receive (in sms both ways)? All the phone numbers that I text (or texted to me) appear on our family bill. Since there seems to be no way to stop that; I am trying to find a simple sms to sms app.. a paid one without ads that is as simple to use as 'regular' texting. I also assume a paid app will bypass the fear of me being a spammer since they will have all my information.

My GF's daugther just got an 7" OMY Q88 tablet with 8Gb flash, 512Mb Ram, 1GHz A13 Cpu, running (Android version 4.0.4 - Baseband 1.5 - kernel 3.0.8+ yishion@yishion #95 - build number nuclear_evb-eng_AL_4.0.4), from her mother and I'm trying to see if I can get it to work with SMS and phone calls.
So I'm using Globe tattoo usb stick E1552 & E153(rebranded Huawei) attached by USB dongle. Both work fine for internet using PPPwidget and sending SMS through GO SMS Pro, but is unable to receive SMS or make phone calls(I tried most dialers from Play store).
*-Thoose things work perfect on a pc, so what is Android missing? She needs this tablet when starting in college this comming june, and there is no public Wi-Fi on campus. Here in the Philippines, things we take for granted in other countries, are scares to be found.
There are plenty of apps for windows and pc but eventhough I have used 5 days and looked though hundreds of google pages using different search criterias, I have not been able to find a solution for Android.I would not be able to send SMS. URLs.....The last one is alien language to me as I'm not an programmer.
I even installed the JB Messaging app from XDA - but sadly it had no effect. What I need is offline SMS, there are plenty of apps for online SMS but her money is not enough for constant internet.

I wanted to send an apk to my friend but it says something like not supported filetype and therefore it's automatically rejected and it is not sent in consequence. It's not a problem with my phone but with Samsung i9000 dual core 1.2GHz with mali400. IMO we could fix it by adding a line but I'm not sure which file to edit. Weirdly he's able to send apk's. I can send apk files to everyone but him. His Rom is resurrection remix v4.0.7

Any way to get at the Send and Receive Text functions of a phone? In other words, is there a way to transmit a text such that another phone, within range and using my app, could receive that text? Proposed app: The_Haiti_Phone: All cell towers and land lines are down. I would create a text msg to my wife's phone and my special app would send it. All cell phones in range would pass it on. When the packet's receiver's ID matches a cell phone's ID, the msg displays to the user. In summary, in a catastrophe, all cell phones with my app act as cell towers.

so from what I've read in this forum (yes, I've tried), I need to do something to my APN settings to get my MMS to work. My questions are:
1) How do I change the settings? I only have one (Telus SP) and it's locked. I can't change anything whatsoever
2) What are the right settings supposed to be?
3) Does the phone need to be "rooted"? I don't even really know what that entails, I just know you need to root a phone before you can do some things.
