Where the heck are my pictures and videos that I've snapped/recorded in the internal storage when looking for them on my computer? What folders are they hiding under, etc?

Seemed pretty straightforward, but isn't working because I have no update.zip created by ROM Manager. When I did the "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" step no update.zip file was created in the internal SD root. Buried in the clockwork mod folder is recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-captivate.zip, do I move this and rename it?
How do I go about putting froyo on it..I cant seem to find a thread with instructions on moving onto 2.2 since while samsung uk says sept itll be months after before att is doing offing it up with their usual downgrades and bloatware.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI will be purchasing the Samsung Captivate tmrw from the AT&T store after work. Planning to pay $379 for the no commitment since I'm not eligible for an upgrade right now. This will be my very FIRST Android phone. I have no experience what so ever. With that being said, I'm a big Blackberry user, and will be coming from the Blackberry Bold 9000. Is anyone here also an ex-blackberry user? How will the transition be? anything I'll be missing from the bb that wont be on the captivate? I love my blackberry, its a great phone, it does what I need with emails in a heart beat. It's just lacking a lot in multimedia and web browsing, and I'm sure I'm probably missing out on a lot of other cool stuff too especially since I'm paying $30 a month for data plan. Emails & Calendars are very important for me. How will the push email be on the Captivate / Android? I handle 4 email accounts with a mix of Gmail and non gmail. As far as calendars go, I have really bad memory so all my dates and important daily task needs to be in my phone. My brother has an iphone 4, it seems great and all, but not to offend anyone, the OS seems kinda "dumbed down" for kids. It seems to lack a lot of options and customization compared to all the options and choices I had on my blackberry. I've read a lot about how the android lets you customize a lot, so hopefully I'll be going in the right path.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am writing an application in which i need to handle messages between the main thread(the deafult UI related thread) and the user created Gamethread.
The requirement is like this.
An activity(say "Activity_X") is setting the view by "setContentView(some "View_Y")". In "Activity_X" i have implemeted "onCreateOptionsMenu()" and "onOptionsItemSelected()" fucntions for creating menus & a switch case for action to be taken on selecting those menus.Menu has items like "resume/pause/zoom/" .
All action to be take on selecting these menus are implemented in "View_Y" in a separate Gamethread by extending "Thread" class.
So whenever a menu is selected in "Activity_X" i need to send a message to "View_Y". And on receiving this ,a particular action/method should be called in View_Y(GameThread).
How can i achieve this using Handlers?Is there any other way of doing this? Please do share with me some code snippets for these.
My daughter decided to try and get in my sons phone (Captivate) and ended up locking him out. The phone now says "Too Many Pattern Attempts" and is asking for his google user name and password but when he enters that information it says invalid user name or password. He knows that the google user name and password are correct as when he enters them in google mail on the computer it works fine. Any suggestions?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI purchased my moment about 2 weeks ago and have been having fun figuring it out however there are some areas where I am having problems.
1. When you want to attach a document it selects the picture folder/area, how do you browse instead of being forced into that area.
2. I downloaded ringtone app and have found the app quite useful, the problem I am having is, the ringtones I have created don't show up in all the ringtone areas of my phone, what needs to be done to correct this.
3. The basic user guide that comes with the phone says there is an app I can download called samsung new pc studio. When I call sprint or samsung they say this app is not available or can't be used by a casd(the u.s. standard, I think casd is right), they say this software is only for the other standard, I did find this app on the web. Is what sprint and samsung saying true if not can I use the ones I found on the web.
4. If you could choose only ten apps to have(free)which ones would you choose?
Had my phone reboot today at 3:15 pm cst, and it being the first i was hoping that is was a gps update but it does not work any better. anyone else's captivate reboot today?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe Captivate (and Galaxy S in general) all come with Swype, right? But Swype isn't a market app right now, right? As in, the HTC Aria can't get it unless it is rooted/worked around (not too hard, but a hassle)
So is the Captivate the only phone on AT&T that can officially have swype? We all know that Apple won't let Swype in their market

But here is my idea:
1. will use original 1.6 ROM from T-Mobile
2. will NOT root
3. will extract the ROM files instead of dumping
4. will remove some useless applications (especially cube) but I will add vanilla Android keyboard or Swype, I will also change the Samsung music player (very slow) with vanilla Android player
5. will add Trad Chinese, Simp Chinese, Japanese interface
6. will keep current samsung notification bar, but I will change the color from black to grey or blue in order to make Weather bug works
In short, I'll like to have a 1.6 version of BH-MAN-ODIN one, which is my favorite.
Do the apps get stored on the internal SD card on the phone? Or on the section where it says Internal phone storage?

So I got my phone a week ago or so and it just now started having problems with the GPS and randomly shutting off as well as the battery life being drained within a couple of hours from fully charged. Im guessing I should exchange my phone for a new one within my warranty period. Do I need to bring the original box and everything along with it to exchange it?

But thought screen stays in portrait orientation, the activity is still recreated.
I just recorded a video clip which had a strange effect. When in photo albums, instead of a thumbnail of the video in question, the phone created a thumbnail of a video I have recorded previously and then deleted. Does anyone know how to make the phone recreate all thumbnails for the media files? I am leaning towards deleting all the files in /sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails/ but not sure this is the way to do it?

1. I create a new contact on my phone and select my googlemail.com when asked "create contact under account"?
2. I save the newly added contact details
3. I then synchronise the phone
4. The newly created account gets deleted from the phone.
For clarification I'm not saving it to the SIM nor to the phone memory, just to my googlemail account.I've read elsewhere that there might be a problem since google added gmail.com accounts in the UK. I now have 2 google accounts (gmail and googlemail) but in practice both seem identical, if I try to sign in to my googlemail account I end up in my gmail account so I doubt if this is the issue. I've tried deleting my googlemail account from my phone with the intention of replacing it with my new gmail account but I get the message that other applications rely on this account and that the only way to remove the account is to do a factory reset. If I create contacts in my gmail account off-line and synchronise my phone then these contacts appear on my phone as expected. It seems strange that this application should delete a newly added contact on the phone but that is exactly what happens. I know I'm not the only one whose experienced this but I've never seen a conclusive resolution, anyone here know how to solve this?
I am trying to follow the instructions on this page to create a trace file. I can see the file in File Explorer in DDMS and can pull it onto my PC but it is zero bytes long.
Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong, please?
I've had this happen three or four times now...two types of occurrences:
1. Edit an existing contact...when I select "Done" the screen says "Saving" and then returns to the contact list - and the contact I edited is gone.
2. Create a new contact - enter name, address, phone, select Done, "Saving" message appears, return to contact list, and the contact is not in the list.
Looked under all variants of the name (first, last, etc.) and it's just not there.
I'm creating the contacts on my primary account.
I'm on 2.01, no rooting, using the built-in contact manager.
