View 14 RepliesRingGuard now has a "2.2 silence fix only" option, for those who don't want RingGuard's main function. With this option checked, a volume change causes RingGuard to pop up a window whose only purpose is to catch volume rocker presses. The window goes away after a configured time, or when you touch "Dismiss".When the phone is already on vibrate, pushing volume-down won't cause a volume change, so RingGuard won't pop up the window. Push volume-up to get the window, and then volume-down to silence. It's easier than it sounds, and easier than using a widget."High priority" (foreground) option gets the window up faster, without impairing overall phone performance as far as I can tell. Downside is that it does create an ongoing notification.RingGuard needs camera permission to check if the camera is in use, so it doesn't interfere with it. Checking camera status on some phones (e.g. Moto Droid) causes audible soft clicking. There's an option to suppress the camera status check.

Its 10000% more convenient than going up top to the lock/sleep button (especially on the droid which feels kinda awkward to get to) So my question is, are there any apps out there, or any settings, that will make it so i can wake up my phone by pressing either the volume rocker or the camera button or maybe something that keeps the home key awake?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I am on my home screen and try to use the volume rocker to increase or decrease the ringer volume the screen shows ringer volume going up then if i press it again the media volume comes up. It seems to alternate between the two when I am trying to change the volume. Is this normal or is there an option I need to have checked that I have missed? Is it because there is a media program running in the background that I do not know about?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone know why they changed the functionality of this? You used to be able to press volume down all the way from loud, to vibrate, to silent (which would not vibrate). Now it either bottoms out at vibrate with certain settings, or skips vibrate and goes to silent. This annoys me because I have to actually go into settings now to put it in silent mode (since I have it set on always vibrate). I've yet to find a combination in the new sound settings to restore the functionality to what it was previously in 2.1. Anyone else running into this "issue", or know a combination that is the same as before?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI listen to Slacker Radio a lot and I noticed that even though my screen will be locked, the volume rocker on the side of the phone will still be active to change the volume for the music. I'm kinda on the fence about whether I like this or not (sometimes it's annoying to unlock the screen just to change the volume by a notch or two, but I also don't want to change the volume by accident when it's in my pocket), but either way, is it supposed to be like this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Sapphire 1.1.1 and like it so far. Coming from Cyanogen, I'm mostly interested in the music volume rocker controls for skipping through songs when the screen is off. I know the problem with Sapphire has typically been that the volume rocker controls sometimes continually skip through songs when the button is pressed, but mine seems to only start the current song over. Anyone else have this problem? The lock screen controls work fine, but I'd like to get the volume rocker working correctly so I can keep my eyes on the road when driving.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed that when turning down the volume of the ringer with the volume rocker it doesn't automatically turn down the notification volume as well. Is there a way to set the volume rocker to adjust both notification and ringer volume to the same level? You can test this by going under Settings/Sound and Display/Ringer Volume...and try adjusting the volume with the rocker and it only adjust the Ringer Volume.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a couple of questions about the volume rocker: if i've got an incoming call I hear my ringtone going off, but when I click the volume rocker the ringtone gets shut down. You can imagine that's pretty annoying when the rocker gets inadvertently pressed in your pocket (since it's so sensitive), you'll practically always miss the call. when the phone is locked, the rocker is used for media volume when listening to music. This combined with the sensitivity of the button is pretty annoying as the volume keeps getting adjusted when the phone is in my pocket. Is there a solution to these problems? Can the volume rocker be disabled completely? I must add i'm probably noticing these things more because I've purchased a rather tight glove (Puro) for the phone, and the buttons get pressed rather easily.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI dropped my eris yesterday and the back popped off. When i put it back on i noticed the volume rocker was gone. i went back and looked for it but couldnt find it. I went to the verizon store today to see if there was a replacement for it. Or if i could buy a new back for the phone because thats what he rocker is attached to but they told me no. So does anyone know what i can do? I know i can change my volume by going to settings but that is just a pain. Does anyone know a website where they might sell the backs for the droid eris?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know if it's from some app I installed or what. But I noticed recently that suddenly the volume rocker only controls the Media Volume or the In-call volume (if you're in a call), not the Ringer Volume. I don't have anything playing, so not sure why it's like that. I want it to default to ringer and I'll worry about Media when I'm actually in a program that uses it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy wife is going to pop out a mini me in about 2 weeks. She wants (desperately) to have an "all natural" birth experience. In order to deal with the pain, she is using a program called "Hypno-Babies", which consists of a series of hypno-induction preparedness CDs, and then a "Birthing" CD to listen to."You feel no pain. Your pelvis is not splitting. Your vagina is not tearing..." I'm being as supportive as possible, as I have a role in this as well, but this is our second, and I know she's going to be asking for the epi about 2 hours into it!She wants to use her Droid to listen to the CD while she is in labor. The problem is that any distraction through the Droid will have an impact on the whole thing. (If the incoming messages notification sounds like a chicken, she might come out of all this clucking!) Well, maybe not that bad, but it will screw up her concentration.I use Sound Manager on mine, but I need to make sure that there's absolutely no chance that my wife's Droid does anything other than behave like an mp3 player.
View 26 Replies View RelatedI think it might be normal, but my volume rocker is a little lose in its fitting. It's not going to fall out or anything and it looks normal, but it does wobble quite easily. anyone else have the same?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI wanted to see who else has rattles above/around the camera and who has a loose volume rocker. I have seen both of these topics briefly covered on this forum and others. *Some believe the rattles come from the camera's auto-function feature, while others dont have any symptoms. I can tell you for sure, its not the battery, battery cover, headphone jack, volume rocker, kickstand, memory card or memory card clip. Does your evo have a rattle? - Android Forums Strange Hardware Sound - Anyone Else?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been trying for a week now to figure out how to silence/change or disable the 'plink' sound that I get when waking my EVO from sleep. I use 'no lock' and it allows me to wake the screen without using the power button but that 'plink' is driving me nuts.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI need to flash a new rom, i was using MIUI but my phone is now stuck on the torch screen (even after pulling batter, it goes right back to torch). My issue is that i can flash a new rom or load a nanodroid because my volume rocker does not work. I can get into CWM through the power options on the phone but i can navigate inside CWM.?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone else have a loose volume rocker, it actually moves around a bit without me even touching it. It doesn't change the volume settings or anything(unless i press the button) but it does make a sound when I move the phone around. It's kind of annoying.
View 33 Replies View RelatedI noticed while web browsing if you use the volume rocker switch, it will zoom in & out & format the text accordingly. I then tried this on a D1 & DInc which did not do the same. Just thought I'd share this info.
View 5 Replies View RelatedDont know how it happened . was never dropped and no physical damage to the phone but when i went to pick it up i noticed the missing piece.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to disable this function?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to stop the volume rocker from changing the ringer volume when at the home screen etc. It's really annoying! It's so easy to press by accident, and I never want to change the ringer volume anyway! (I only ever want it to ring at a particular volume, or not ring at all...in which case I just put it in vibrate mode)
View 1 Replies View RelatedQuestion: The EVO 4G plays an audio file whenever you adjust the ringtone volume with the volume rocker buttons. Does anyone know which file this is and where it's located? Why I'm asking (in case you're interested): I'm one of those that does not like to hit the power button everytime I want to sleep/lock or wake up my phone. It's simply an awkward button for me to hit and I'm afraid I'll wear it out over time or accidentally drop the phone. So, I'm using 'Screen Off' to sleep the phone with homescreen shortcut and 'No Lock' to prevent the phone from going entirely into lock mode. This lets me use the volume rocker buttons to wake the phone. The problem is that each time I hit the button it plays the 'plunk' sound indicating the volume level, which is driving me a little nuts (think Chinese water torture). I've been unable to find a solution to this problem, and am now looking at finding the media/audio file for this and simply replacing it with a silent audio clip. But I searched for all media files in /system, played them each, and couldn't find a match.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOkay, so i feel stupid asking this, but can't find it anywhere in the manual or google. what is the hole next to the volume rocker for?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 4 and I want to use the volume rocker as the power button to wake the device when it's in sleep. That's because sometimes the volume rocker is more accessable to me than the wake/sleep button. I know the app for this is tasker. Now here is the basic plan:
If the screen is off + VOLR changes (up or down) >> Screen on.
My problem is with the function that checks if the Volume has changed. I tried several things but nothing worked. Is my idea possible without a rooted device?
I use the Volume Rocker scroll function in the labs settings of Dolphin Browser. Is there a way to get this in Chrome?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have samsung galaxy nexus and today i tried to flash a rom and the device stuck to the boot logo. The volume rocker doesn't work to go to fastboot mode or recovery mode and the adb device is anauthorized.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm ultimately looking for a way to play/pause and skip music without turning on the screen. I had an HTC Hero a while back running CM7 RC, and I had a few options for this. Holding the volume rocker up or down skipped the song forward and backwards respectively, and when I had a headset in, the Mic button could also have these functions. A single press would play/pause, or answer a call (depending on phone state), double tap would skip the song, and a long press would activate voice search.
I now have the Epic 4G, and none of these functions work anymore. The volume rocker just changes the volume, and the mic button only answers calls, or activates voice dialing, and even then, the screen has to be on and unlocked. I find this of mild annoyance. I haven't found any obvious way to change these settings.
Basically, I want to know how do I change the function of hardware keys? Specifically, the mic button on a wired headset and the volume rockers for music functions.
Does anyone know if it's possible to move the "wake" functionality from the Power button to the Volume rocker? It seems to me that it's much easier to reach the volume buttons I only have one hand on the phone.
