Motorola Droid :: How To Shift Phone In Software Expectations?

I was listening to the En gadget pod cast and Josh Topology said that he was getting an i Pad because was he looking forward to what it could do once it was jail-broken. Josh is a pretty big fan of Apple products, and he wants to jail-break his new i Pad... I went back to stock in anticipation of the update, and when it didn't happen, I went right back to root and ROM. I know there are guys who are tired of hearing about the rooting, but seriously, how many of us on the forum are pretty much just fine without official updates? I LOVE my droid right now with ROM, Beautiful Widgets, and Helix Launcher. I know that hacking and working around software restrictions have always been around, but it seems like things might have changed with the Internet, and especially forums like this one. You don't have to go to the big boys for their releases anymore, instead of Mac v PC. Maybe more and more users will start expecting their software to come from any number of smaller dev's, with more frequent updates and customization. Just an observation.

My hubby works shifts 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off and he used to have a shift calender on i phone which was perfect, however we both have desire now and i'm trying to find a similar one. Ideally one where days are one color nights are another and days off either neutral or another color.

Is it me or you fellow incredible owners as well? And also notice when im about to send a text sometime it highlight the send button even tho I didn't press it. Hope they fix this issue soon its kind of annoying.

Since I updated my software the other day, when I type a text message in the native program I cannot use the Shift (up arrow key) when the phone is vertical. When I flip it horizontal the shift key works, but then the ABC to # key no longer works. Does anyone else have this problem? Verizon's only advice was to pull the battery out...of course did nothing.

For the past week or so I've been having issues with the bottom left corner of my touch screen (in portrait). If I am typing a text I cant select the letter Z or the shift/caps key. I also have a hard time selecting shortcuts in that corner. I am running the 1st 2.1 leak if that makes any difference. Is anyone experiencing touchscreen issues that may have any solutions or should I get a replacement? Does anyone think the OTA might fix this? BTW, I've calibrated my phone several times to no avail. It also happens in landscape but it shifts to the bottom right corner of course!

I am writing a simple calculator application(using absolute layout with 3 edit boxes and some buttons), which has two inputtext boxes and a output box.
input1 = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.input1);
input2 = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.input2);
now once user enters some numerics into input1 and presses '+', now i want to shift the focus from input1 to input2. How can i do that?
I tried the below code on keypress of '+'...
but this is not working..

Sorry if there are is an answer for this already. Searching for "keyboard" and "tab" is a pretty big waste of time to sift through.
Is there a soft keyboard out that has alt, ctrl, tab, shift, and a pipe?
It would also need multitouch and/or some sticky keys option to be able to utilize them. (like being able to press ctrl+k)
I don't care about swype or any "super awesome" keyboard with gigantic keys. I'll deal with typos if it means I can keep my evo and still get around in shells remotely without having to carry around a bluetooth keyboard (whenever cyanogen or somebody gets BT HID working).
I don't care about auto correction. I don't care about text prediction. I don't care if you can put a Hello Kitty theme on it. I don't even care if you're forced to use a Hello Kitty them to use it. I just want a keyboard that works as a full keyboard.

Following suggestions on this forum I've downloaded the HTC_IME keyboard. It looks great, except for one problem. It's TINY!!! On my X10 the keyboard appears at the bottom left of the screen with lots of empty space to the right of it. It's so tiny that I can't read the "shift" characters on each key. Any ideas how to make it fit the screen like all the other keyboards do?

I figured out the method to shifting through the contacts contract but now get a weird error on the intent. I think I have the right manifest.

I have the Droid Max and I am using the default google keyboard, I am not a fan of some of the other keyboards because I have big hands and it can be hard to type on , how to remove the emoji or maybe even a better keyboard.

Has to be a setting that has been changed.
When I switch my phone from what I'll call "portrait" view to "landscape" view (as in printing paper) the screen will not shift. Simple fix?

Has anybody been able to get nfs working on the incredible there is a version (1.04 i think)floating around that is supposed to work for snapdragon. I can't get it to install. It says not enough space when installing via astro or any other file managers while i have hundreds of mbs free. I am rooted but everything is stock others reported the same thing when trying to install. I tried to install via adb but i am not positive on how to do it. Has anyone gotten this to work on the incredible.

I am trying, unsuccessfully, to "shift" a bitmap. By "shift", I mean: if I have a 500x300 and I shift it 50 pixels to the right, the result should be a 500x300 bitmap where every pixel has been shifted 50 pixels to the left, and the 50 right most pixels are blank. So, the new image is the same as the old one except the left side is cropped, and a blank area is appended to the right side. The below code successfully crops the left side, but it does not produce a blank area on the right side, it just produces a narrower bitmap: So then I tried creating a new Bitmap with the desired dimensions, and manually setting the pixels (with an offset). However, this still produces a narrower Bitmap, lacking the blank area on the right side.

The main points that I like to enjoy is: Droid beat out the phone that beat the iPhone, and the Droid got further in the brackets than any other Android OS phone Some of the progress is due to hardware, some due to following (over the Nexus'), but a lot due to the v2.01 (and now 2.1) version of the Android OS. Also, this poll is open ALL weekend - it does not close until April 5th, so we have tons of time...but then again, so does the Palm Pre. Let's have at 'em!

I really want those characters people use on Facebook: hearts, smiley face, sun, etc. My best friend has a BB and says I can gwt them if i have auto text. I've Google the info and it there was one page that said to get the smart keyboard pro app. I have no idea in how to use it or get those cute little symbols. Please, anyine, HELP!!

I've had a Moto Droid since around the first or second week of its release. I have my phone rooted and I'm running BuglessBeast V0.5. At the end of November I can renew my contract early and I'll get a new Android based phone. Are there any phones worthy of replacing the Motorola Droid? There's no denying that the Droid had/has the biggest community and developer base but what is the next Droid phone that will be the biggest hit with the community and developers? That's the phone I want to get.

Can I get my Droid video clips off of my phone and onto my PC? I bought a SanDisk card reader usb port, put my SD card in it and plugged it into my PC. It doesn't show the video clips or "camera" pictures. I'd like to get some of this stuff off my phone and onto my PC.

I have a Motorola Droid and the latest release of Android (Froyo 2.2).My question is I want to send a music video that is going to a Non-Android phone. This phone can play videos and is a standard Verizon branded phone. The video has already been converted to the standard .3gp format from my PC which uses Roxio 2010 Video converter. I have the following Apps installed to assist me:Astro File Manager (With both extensions installed and latest release)Handcent SMS (No Font Packs Installed).The video itself is almost 4 minutes long and the size of the video is only 9.40MB.

ok so i am rooted with FRG22 froyo build on my droid1 and i just recieved the OTA update (it didnt see the OTA build number), so i am wondering, if i installed this OTA will it brick my phone? i actually want this update to brick my phone because i just got done reading this story that says if you managed to brick your phone in the process of updating to froyo, they will replace your droid 1 with a droid 2!! so someone please tell me, will this brick my phone? also i already had my droid replaced once before i few months ago when i dropped it, will verizon still give me my Droid 2 replacement?link to this article i read : Droid Broken? Does anyone know of an app to improve contact searching in the Phone app? I would love a BlackBerry-like interface where the phone opens and you can just start typing a contact name (on dialpad) (or any contact data to select and narrow a contact search? Instead you have to perform an actual search or scroll - what a pain! If nothing exists - who's willing to build it?
