I have a variation of the LG Ally called the Shine Plus. The swipe gesture on the main screen which unlocks the phone is completely bypassed when you open the slide-out keyboard. No matter how it's locked, anyone can access the phone by sliding out the keyboard. Does anyone else have this problem, and is there a fix for it?

Is there any way to remove keyboard shortcuts for a rooted phone? For instance, while texting i sometimes press ALT+DEL and it removes the whole line i was typing. Kind of frustrating. So if there were a way to remove those shortcuts through terminal or modifying files that would be great
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have HTC Hero and I've found out that dragging down on the touch is not the only way to unlock the phone. If you press the menu button, it unlocks the phone, too. I don't know whether it's problem of the HTC device, Android or bad feature definition.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my phone rooted and got velocity on the phone, but i noticed some issues within the first few days. the 50% bug seemed to get worse, before i could do the airplane thing and it would be good for about a week, now when i do it it will last less than a day and i cant get more than a day of battery life with not using my phone much at all, before i could get about 2 days with regular use.
when i slide the keyboard out an the screen switched to landscape the all the icons and widgets would disapear then re-appear about 15 seconds later, it does the same thing when closing the keyboard. some times it gets stuck and just flashes the screen with no icon or wigets and the only way i can fix it is rebooting the phone.
the flashlight app that comes with it works perfectly but when i close the app the notification lights keeps flashing and changing colors it wont stop untill i reboot the phone. everything else seems to be working fine for me. p.s. the ad blocking in the apps is a very nice addon
I'm looking for some type of patch that would allow me to answer calls and enable speakerphone by just sliding out my keyboard on my Lg Ally. I do have some experience in coding, so if someone could point me in the right direction,
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a service which starts at boot up time, the service code needs the intent of following scenarios.
1) When the phone locks(after time out)
2)When the user unlocks the screen (by dragging the screen lock object)
There doesn't appear to be an API available where an application can be notified when the device is locked or unlocked. It is important the this application be notified of these events, since the service utilizes the proximity sensor which does not shutdown when the device goes into suspend. The app will need to unload the prox sensor manually to save battery when the device gets locked, and reload the prox after the device is unlocked again.
I read somewhere that there is a zip file you can put on your phone and it "unlocks" the live wallpapers as an option. It was somewhere on these forums be it moment, eris, or hero. I would assume if it was on another phones page the concept would be the same. Any info on this my fellow Hero comrades?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone understood how to make your application be displayed when you unlock the screen. I have an application where the user turns on a Bluetooth device, it connects to the phone, and the user should be presented with a UI. Having them hunt for the app or using the notification menu is not a workable option (too much work and not the obvious behavior).
The problem is that:
When the screen is unlocked:
- you can popup the activity from the background service when Bluetooth connects to a device
- User is happy because the UI is right there
When the screen is locked:
- The application gets started but is destroyed
- User unlocks the phone and nothing is there but the homescreen
One work around would be to disable the keyguard when the application gets woken up but the nuclear option is a pretty bad option. I know the standard Android assumption is that you shouldn't do this. In the normal case this behavior is fine, but in this case I explicitly did something I want the phone to respond without adding more work for the user to do. As per Google's guidelines if you don't like this behavior there can be an option for you to turn this off or you can not use the application.
A few more details, so after looking at this a bit more the problem isn't necessarily that you can't have an activity running when the screen is locked, unlock and expect it to be waiting. That does work if you do something like the following: lock your device run an app through Eclipse while the phone is locked/off unlock and it will be waiting for you.
But in the case the Activity is already running and I'm brining up a new window (which happens to be a transparent one, saying you're connected and asking what they want to do).
The problem is that it gets killed

The setup here is as follows:
MyBackgroundService is a serivce that handles Bluetooth state (waits for connections, turns on Bluetooth if the user starts the app, etc.). It triggers a popup BackgroundPOPUP activity that runs a ViewFlipper.
MyBackgroundService starts BackgroundPOPUP through an intent.
BackgroundPOPUP is an activity with a Translucent theme (Theme.Translucent to be precise), it shows a ViewFlipper with some instructions and presents some options.
Was this option removed or am I doing something wrong? Now I have to slide the dumb thing off the screen to unlock...

My LG Ally is stuck at the "VELOCITY" boot screen and is stuck in a loop. I had Velocity 0.3 flashed yesterday and I decided to re-flash today. I have tried wiping data/files/cache/dalvik cache. I'm stuck and I don't know what to do. Also I never did a Nandroid backup (because I'm slow).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI figured out how to full flash the LG Ally 740 to cricket but 3 out of every 5 phones I flash do not save the NV settings. When I go to manual programming (##program740 send) then select DATA. The MIP & DUN MIP settings always revert back to the default 0000000000@vzw3g.com settings. I've changed them in LGNPST,CDMA Workshop & QPST but still reverts back to VZW. It's rooted and tried several different ROM's to fix the problem. Could it be the kernel? If anyone can help, please let me know.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore applying the Turbo4 ROM, I ran Linpack to get a base number so I can compare it with the number I get after I apply Turbo4. I got a 4.188. The phone is rooted with many of the stock apps removed running the Zeam Launcher, but no other custom ROMS.
Is that a pretty good number to start with? It was higher than I was expecting because most linpack scores i've read about are in the 3's.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI installed the GNM 4 Turbo, with the overclock kernal on my Ally. Installed it through the recovery menu, just like I did to install Velocity. But, I cannot use it on my phone, no matter what I try. I end up with a kernal panic error instantly, or the desktop will load up, freeze, then restart, everytime. Sometimes I have to remove the battery to unfreeze it. My phone will only work at the stock processor speeds, but I want to overclock it. I followed instructions to the T, I have ROM Manager, and I know how to adjust the speed. But it will just not work on my phone. I see people going over 700 mhz, but I can't get above 600 without freezes and crashes. What can I do to fix this? I know the GNM is authentic, because I got it from the same page where I got the download for Velocity. I've cleared out the caches, restarted, everything.

View 10 Replies View Relatedphone keeps rebooting, possible fix is disabling Verizon Backup Assistant. if i go into running processes and stop this app it appears the rebooting stops, but if the phone is reset it does not stay disabled i have to go back in and stop it again. can this be done? i dont like to use app killers but will it work?
