Ever since the 2.2 update, the HTC message has changed. Now when you get a text, you go to respond and it doesn't show who sent the message or the previous text so you're texting blind until you lower the keyboard. I'm constantly now bringing up, lowering the keyboard. Up and down to make sure I'm texting who I think I'm texting.

I rooted my phone but haven't done anything but remove "Bloatware" and some apps I wasn't using. One of which was the stock message app. Now handcent will no longer send or receive picture messages, so I figure that it must have used some component of the stock app to send and receive MMS. Does anyone know if this is true. If so, where can I download the stock message app?
View 10 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed that you can't send a text message to more than 10 people at a time through the stock text messaging app ever since Froyo? This was a major blow to me as I coach a softball team and have to send out a text message to 15 or more people every week. It worked before Froyo but not anymore.
Handcent allows this, so I switched over to it. But now I am getting double notifications when I receive a text message. How do I turn "off" the stock text messaging app?
My problem is this, I downloaded Handcent and really like it, however, I can't send messages from home. I have marginal service here (around -98 avg.) but I do get 3G. Whenever I send a message it says Message Failed - Retry, Cancel? I've even had this problem in places with great coverage for both 3G and cell service. The stock messaging app works just fine. So what I've been doing is receiving messages with Handcent and then sending them using the stock app.
So, does anyone have any ideas of what I can do? Are there any settings that can be changed? Does handcent use 3G to send messages?
I'm now trying Chomp to see if that's any better. And, just an FYI, I'm having trouble with text messages, not MMS. I haven't tried sending any pics or videos yet, I've just been sending SMS.
I had a weird problem this afternoon with the stock texting app.
All of my text threads got erased when I went to reply to someone. The weirder part is that a few hours later, all of my texts had the mail symbol with a green "i" next to it, signifying that it was pending. People receive the messages, but mine all have a pending status.
When I receive a picture in the stock message application it is received as a slideshow. When I click to view, it opens and then after a couple of seconds it closes. Is there anyway of keeping the picture open for longer, other than saving and opening seperately?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't know if its a sign I have a lot of stuff on my phone or what but it annoys me when I click the green messaging icon on the phone and it stalls for a second or two before opening or if I had been texting person A and I get another text from person B, when I tap the green icon it will open back up the Texting thread from person A instead! In that case, I have to exit out of all conversations before I can see the new text coming in from Person B!

I have Handcent installed

Settings>etc>etc>etc
Sorry if it's been done but I can't find it!! Loads of references to turning it off but I can't for love nor money work out how to do it!
I'm using handcent and have disabled the message notifications in the stock messaging application but what i still get is a pop-up message window from the stock app showing the message and i can reply in that app if i wish, however, handcent widget will still show one unread sms message and i would have to go read the message via handcent to get rid of the new sms icon etc.
Of course I could ignore the stock app's pop-up window and close it, go to hancent and read / reply that way but what i want is just visual and audible notifications from hancent. I don't want the stock messaging app to do anything at all. (T-mobile G2 on Version 1.5)

How do I restore my messages? Can I upgrade the stock message app? Or is there any B&R app that can read the backup file? so far I tried many but non of them worked.

View 17 Replies View RelatedI use Handcent as my SMS program. I try to delete all threads (I have test history) and it doesn't take effect. All threads are still there after it asks me. I have cleared data and cache's on both the stock and Handcent apps in my app manager. When trying to delete all threads with my stock program, my phone typically freezes up and forces close. Anyone have similiar experiences, have answers? I even uninstalled Handcent thinking that would clear everything, re-installed and everything was still there.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSince I got the original 2.2 update for my Droid, whenever I get a new text message and slide down the notification bar and select the new message, it takes me to the main text message window rather than the actual thread to reply to the person. It is really annoying because it requires an extra step. I figured it would be fixed with the second 2.2 update but it didn't. I called Verizon and they called Motorola and nobody knew of the problem so they shipped me out a new phone and it still does it! I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing this or if its normal. It doesn't do it 100% of the time but closer to 90% probably.

But I was wondering if there is a way to control how many messages show up in each conversation? Like, say I am having a conversation with Bob. When I open up our conversation, it shows EVERY SINGLE message between us two, all the way from our very first text. And so scrolling and browsing through our conversations can get laggy.
Is there anyway to just show the recent messages in the conversation? I know in ChompSMS, it automatically does that, and if you scroll to the top of the conversation, theres an option to "show older messages."
I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
the OTA message has been appearing and is getting annoying. I am rooted with unrevoked3 post 2.2 OTA. I do not want this latest upgrade so how can I tell it no for good.? Selecting Install Later just puts it to sleep for a while...

If I do as the manual says and hold the message from the all messages screen and get the option, there is no lock or save option. This will be really annoying if I can't save certain emails or sms texts.
SMS - do I honestly need the tracked conversations? Is there a way to turn that off? On my BB, it tracked, but I could change it to not track, or only track 1 message before, etc. My husband doesn't need to see a vent about him that shows up 10 messages down between me and a girlfriend.

I get this error and i have learned that it means someone sent me a picture but it wasn't downloaded. So i have to go thru all my texts to find the gray box that then gives me an option to download it. (There is no error symbol by the string of texts tho). After i hit download it then shows up. Is this just typical now or is it a setting that just causes me to make the download happen? Btw, im using the regular phone texting setup.
