I have an HTC Hero locked to T.Mobile here in the UK. Does anyone know where I can get it unlocked? I have paid 2 online unlocking websites, but after 2 days both have come back to me and refunded the money saying they can'r unlock them yet?

I've heard that there are many ways to unlock it, but as far as I know they all result in the disabling of the 3G network, which I really don't want to happen. I want to unlock so that I can use it with a Tesco mobile SIM, who use the o2 network.

I lost the phone a few days after the subscription had expired so I straight away bought the full version but it doesn't seem to be able to track the phone or issue a lock for it. But heres the Question: Is there a way to root this hero to unlock the sprint mobile network so that he can text anytime and anywhere the phone is on? Right now he can only do it through wifi.

When the phone is docked, and I hit the top unlock button, and then attempt to swipe down, I get either no response, or occasionally it will unlock the screen. If I use my other hand to hold the phone, it will unlock normally. Obviously, this will not work while driving down the road. I have seen on other forums either this EXACT problem, or a problem with the device laying on it back. Also, if I do get the phone to unlock, navigating while in the dock is very erratic. I'm curious if anyone is having a problem with their phone while in a car dock, or lying on a surface and will not unlock without holding it with your other hand.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Magic from Rogers almost a week ago and so far am loving it. Here are some of the issues or unknowns I found so far:
1. Found out you cant store and run apps from the SD card. That makes the SD card only half useful since it can only be used for music, vids, photos, etc. I hear the new version of Android might fix this.
2. I couldn't find anywhere information about the applications and whether they continue to run in the background after they are closed. Is there a way to close or kill applications? Should I even care if they're closed or not?..................
I have a branded Orange phone and I am tempted to debrand it but I cannot find simple instructions involving using a Mac. No PCs in this house.
As the phone is unlocked does this make it easier and do I have to root and debrand or just do one of the procedures in order to get rid of the bloatware and get 2.2.
