Everyday I am getting this short notification sound a few times but there is nothing shown on the task bar. There is no incoming SMS or calendar event. And it is not the alarm clock. What is it?

Right now my phone makes the same sound whether I get a email or a text message. Can I make one have a different sound than the other? If so please tell me in detail how. I only see one notification sound area.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen you're making a call with a speaker near a mobile phone, you hear noises resulting from electromagnetic stuff, in the speaker. The problem is that I hear such noises in my headset. It appears as not normal, and also happens if I have the headset at the maximal distance from the mobile phone.
Is there somebody having the same problem as me? How to solve this? Is it normal?
I tried using home switcher to make calls but the same problem occurs. I can make a call, If I try to make a call after, the phone will lag on dialing then if it does connect I can't hear. If I receive a call it will answer but no sound. This happened after 2.1. I even did a factory reset and followed the upgrading instructions, everything else is fine except for this.

I recently placed a call to someone, and when the call became connected I heard a loud beeping sound constantly and the person on the other line couldn't hear me. I had installed an app, Task Killer, prior to this so I naturally thought this was affected. I shut down the app, placed the call again, and the same thing happened. I had to reset the battery on the phone to fix this problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm pretty sure my Hero used to give me a beep when I got a new SMS, but it stopped at some point (a couple of weeks ago) and I haven't heard one since. I've tried re-setting the notification sound but it doesn't help.I'm getting other alerts (new mail, etc.) it's just SMS that doesn't play a sound. I've checked the volume level and it's set to the same as the phone ring level, which is fine. I'm wondering if I installed an app that killed it.

View 23 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Hero a couple of days ago and I can't help but getting a bit annoyed by the fact that whenever I receive a message my phone gives off the double vibrate buzz, followed by most often just a second of silence before the message sound 'pling' goes off. The pause between the vibration buzz seems a bit random and I have experienced it pausing for up to like 10 seconds before a sound plays. I cannot see that this is supposed to happen.What's wrong?My phone has build version 2.73.405.6 (which confuses me a bit since HTC webpages says that the newest build version is 2.73.405.5).

I have placed it on the sd card under Audio/Notifications and I can play the sound file OK but when i go to the settings of the sms app (Handcent SMS) and choose Notification Setting and then Select Ringtone, it does not display the sound file. I keep reading that each app has a setting that allows one to select a unique sound, but I am not able to find this setting for the stock email app, or the voicemail app. The only options under email settings are:
Email notifications - ON or OFF
Notification sound - ON or OFF
Notification vibrate - ON or OFF
Under Voicemail settings, I see NO choices for notifications.
I've been using Task Panel X and Advanced Task manager to kill unneeded tasks and keep memory at a maximum.
Recently, every time I open Task Panel X and then revert back to Home screen I get the HTC logo and then a loading screen while the device sets itself. This happens even if I kill NO tasks.
So my solution was to uninstall Task Panel X and then use just Advanced Task Manager. All the sudden, same result.
Everytime I open either of these apps and then go back to home screen I get a BLACK SCREEN WITH HTC LOGO, THEN A BRIEF (10 SECONDS) LOADING SCREEN. THEN ALL IS NORMAL.
Looking for a guide on how to use task killer. I had task killer on and deleted it. I think I was killing tasks that were needed to keep certain functions running that I use frequently. If someone would take the time to help me understand how to use one, I think I would be much more successful with it.
example - text messaging just stopped ( werrent receiving them ) . Once I took task killer off, everything started working again.
I am looking for the default sound files from the Incredible. Specifically, I am looking to the "doot" sound when you press the volume slider. Does anyone have this sound file? It is not located with the alarms, notification, or ringtones. Also, as an added bonus, I am looking for the notification sound from SportsTap as well.

I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? I have been a long time Blackberry user and made the switch to Android just yesterday morning and really love it. I hope someone can help me with this issue.
I have noticed that a couple of times I get the email notification sound but there is no email. A couple of minutes later I receive an email with its own notification sound. Another time, I heard the notification sound AND the new email icon on the top left of the screen but there was no email. Several minutes later, the email was delivered to the handset.
The email accounts that I have set up on the handset are one yahoo with mail plus, and one gmail account. I believe the issues happened with the gmail account.
I would like to perform a task just before the phone is shut down. I thought that Application#onTerminate would be called but that does not seem to be the case. Is there a broadcast intent when the phone is going to shutdown? If not, how to run a task just before the phone is turned off?

I want to create a link in the status bar on the phone through notification manager. When I click on it, I want want a particular task to come to the foreground.
However, it seems my code always launch a new task even if there is an existing one running. For example, I click on the link the first time, a task shows up. When I click the second time, I see an animated task showing up again ... repeat that 5 times. And then when I hit "back" button, the 5 instances will disappear one by one (proving it's not just a single instance). code...
My applications carries on processing when the user presses the home key, and generates status bar notifications if something happens the user requested to be notified about.
If a user holds the home key and then selects the application, it is restored in its correct state with the activity on top that showed when the user left.
However, since the intent that is associated with the status bar notification is FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK and I put in the class name of the activity that launched the application (I assume this is what I must do?), the launcher activity is started when the notification is "clicked". I can then switch the application back to the current activity by starting that "active" activity again, but then I seem to have two instances of the activity in memory, since I have to press back twice to leave it. And I suspect my activity stack is then messed up as well.
I have set the launcher activity to be singleTask, but that only helped a bit. From my reading I thought this would just give the task focus if the launcher activity is not on top, but instead it gives the launcher activity the focus.
Is there a way for a notification click to work more like the task switcher provided by long pressing the home button?
I have a task killer and I assume it's killing a process that syncs for new emails [I've set it to auto update every 30 min] and even when I open the app it does not refresh till I manually press refresh. Which process exactly should I put on the ignore list so it will not kill it.
