Flashed the XtraSense ROM yesterday (rooted and flashed for the first time yesterday). The speech to text doesn't seem to work in any of the input field except for Google Search box. The mic icon doesn't appear in on the keyboard in the native message app/handcent nor any of the input screens.

My text to speech and speech to text does not work in any application. When i tap the microphone icon i get a message "your phone does not have speech recognition ENGINE and recgoinzer not found". I cant not find any apps to redownload this. Any ways to fix it? I am running new sholes 1.0 rom
FIXED... reinstalled the rom and now it came back. go figure
I was in an elevator, was trying to record a note to self.
When I pressed the record button in the app, the google red mic in a circle appeared.
I got an error saying I had no internet connection.
What's up with that? I thought it was supposed to work offline?
BTW, I own swiftkey keyboard (I didn't try the same elevator experiment using that)
I rooted my phone (Samsung Galaxy S Showcase i500) the other day and deleted a lot of the stock apk files, the ones that I thought I didn't need .
One of them was Voice Search (and also voice commands, if that matters). Now, my speech or voice to text in my text messaging program is not working. Whenever I press the mic icon, nothing happens. Through searching I think I've determined it's because I deleted the voice search apk?
Whenever I go to the Market to download Google Voice Search, the Market says its already "installed"...but obviously its not?! I've tried downloading the file from other places but when I try to install it says "There is a problem parsing the package."
Bottom line, how do I get my speech to text back?
This appears to be affect multiple brands and models. About a 3-4 days ago it started deleting previous sentences or phrases and only leaving the most recent phrase you spoke minus the last word. Long delays as well. As mentioned, it is affecting multiple phones based on other comments throughout internet. Very frustrating!
Initially I thought it was related to the recent Maps update, but rolled back to older version and no change. Not sure about the recent change for Google Voice to Hangouts, but that seems like a possibility . .
I have a Samsung Galaxy Centura and I'm using Go SMS Pro and SwiftKey.
Starting today, when I try to text using the voice to text feature, every time I start a new sentence, the previous sentence disappears. This has never happened to me before. I tried repeatedly, to the point I was cursing, and now it is also blocking out offensive words also. I went to Language and Input > Google Voice Typing and made sure Block offensive words is not checked.
I have the 2.1 leak v3 installed and just realized I do not have the speech to text button while in message compose screen.Is there something I am missing?

When I hold down the input field I get an input choice menu but the only option there is the Android Keyboard.Am I doing it wrong?What am I missing? In iOS you can turn on Accessibility function that add the "Speak" button to the "selection menu". And if you click, it would turn on Text To Speech engine and read selected text. Can I do the same thing in Android ?
PS: I assume that regular app could not modify "copy, paste, cut menu" so I probably need custom ROM. (I'm particularly interested Nexus 7 2013 solution, but I assume that solution should be universal because it is just modification to the "Selection menu" and add button)
