EVO phone completely restarts after I activate the GPS toggle and launch Google Maps.I allow some time between the two activities so it's not like I'm rushing it.Anyone else dealing with this?What to do

Any of you having a problem when you try to launch Navigation or Maps causes your phone to soft reset? I can't seem to figure it out and don't even know how to go about troubleshooting the problem.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI performed a hard-reset on my phone this evening, and I just noticed that the Google Maps Navigator program is now missing off my phone.This is a different program than Google Maps (it's far more useful for navigation purposes).My Evo isn't rooted or anything.I can't even find the program in the Android Marketplace now.The link from the google site now goes to Google Maps.

I use google maps quite a bit on my iphone and over the past couple years I have accumulated a lot of bookmarked locations that I have saved on my phone. My question is, is there a way to sync all the locations I have saved on my iphone to my new phone? Or am I going to have to add all the bookmarked locations manually?

I swear I had this on one of my computers before I had an android phone, but I try lots of stuff out and can't remember how I found it.

Like "tag this". Something like that. I can't seem to find any info on that. Its all on integrating MapView into your app.

Sorry for a nob question but can I get Google Earth on the Desire. It came with Google Maps and I read on another post someone also had Google Earth. I have been on the Android Market but a search doesn't bring up Google Earth. Has anyone installed Earth as well as Maps ?

View 13 Replies View RelatedA couple of times now I've had this problem on my Hero, and today it was a huge pain in the ass, as I was looking for the place I was headed to but couldn't find it.The problem is my Google Maps couldn't lock onto my signal it was jumping all over the state at first told me I was in Sacramento (one of the turn directions next to it had a misspelling "Socramento", wtf?), then Santa Rosa, then as I kept driving and pressing My Location, it switched to a random street about a mile away, then dumped me in the ocean.During this time, the GPS icon kept blinking and didn't stay solid. Also, once it picked up a location, it didn't continue to update it as it should do.I had to restart the phone and I think it's working OK now but this is at least the 2nd time it's happened to me.

I use a debug key and trippel checked the manifest. It has been working in earlier projects. I just cant figure it out.. Any ideas, what to check?

However, when I am on my phone, it does not shut off the audio from Google Maps and so I get two voices in my ear simultaneously. Conversely, while listening to Pandora, it shuts off to allow me to hear the Google Maps directions. Is there a method to automatically suppress Google Maps audio when on the phone?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am thinking of getting a HTC Hero. I am not well up on smart phones. I do like the iPhone but that seem way too expensive compared to the deal I can get on the Hero. On Google Maps, the manual says the phone needs connected toi wifi oir gprs for GM to work. I am going on holiday and dont want to use a huge amount of GPRS in case the bill starts to mount up for international usage. Can the maps for the area I am going to be cached on the phone in some way?
The other question I have is - can the phone be used as a GPS tracker. Say, recording my location every 10 seconds. Then downloading this to my PC and Google Maps when I get home so i can trace wherev I have been. On comparisons between the Hero and iPhone - this is nearly like a religious debate. Is the Hero a fair match for the iPhone.
Has anyone been able to get this new version of Google Maps that syncs Starred places from your desktop to your phone? I have worked out how to export kml files from Google Maps on the PC.
It would have been nice to be able to save routes in My Maps (maybe you can, but I don't see how).

I'm using a Spice Mi-350 phone (It is the same as Lenovo A60). On the stock Google Maps worked perfectly. But recently i flashed Yonip 5.3.7 Rebirth ROM. Since then Google Maps does not work anymore. When ever i open it, it says 'This application requires a working data connection'. I have a fully working data connection and every other app on my phone can access the internet except for Google Maps and it's related apps(like Navigation,Places,Local,etc).

I have a sony xperia u running ice cream sandwich. The google maps app keeps on "restarting" status when I go to check the running apps. It is preventing the phone from going into deep sleep, therefore consuming 20% of battery overnight. This does not happens all the timeI have included a screenshot below.

However the past 2 or 3 days my Evo has randomly restarted without any notice or any reason. I was sitting in my room watching TV last night when my phone restarted 3 separate times within a 35 minute span. Nothing was running, it wasn't charging, I haven't rooted yet, 4g bluetooth and wifi were all off.

View 39 Replies View RelatedSo I'm running fresh evo .5.3 (Or whatever that build was, old, I know), and near the middle of the day I realized my phone was playing my notification sound (and led would blink once) and then my phone would suddenly reboot. The only changes I had made were installing a couple random apps, which I've uninstalled since then. Also, installed handcent and I get the same result. Other notifications work fun, but any text ones freeze and instantly reboot my phone. I'll probably end up doing a full (everything I need is in the cloud, don't mind reinstalling apps) wipe and flash of fresh 3.2.
