HTC EVO 4G :: Fresh 3.3 W / New Ota
Sep 23, 2010
Check your email and also check his site for new radio's (Update) Download: Fresh Evo 3.3.0.1 (New OTA) Changes from Fresh Evo 3.2.0.0 to 3.3.0.1: Based on a new Sprint OTA (3.29.651.5) New kernel by HTC (ge2fb08e)Modified slightly to allow apps2sd and remount to work. Has fps unlocked by default, straight from HTC's source.
Deodex'd whole build to make theming easier
PNG Optimized and zipaligned the whole build
Updated SuperUser to 2.3.6.1
Updated Wireless Tether to 2.0.5-pre-9
Updated DarkTremor apps2sd to 2.7.5 final
Updated Google Maps to 4.5
Updated Gmail to 2.3
Updated Google Voice Search to 2.0.1
Removed LauncherProIf you currently have LauncherPro installed and use it then this won't affect you. But I have decided to stop including it by default with my roms for various reasons.
Install Notes: This update does not require a data wipe if you are on Fresh Evo 3.2. If you are coming from another rom then a wipe may be required. Always perform a nandroid backup before flashing. Updating to the new radio and PRI is highly recommended. You can do it before or after you flash the rom. The download is below. If you are a donor and are already running 3.3.0 then there is a 1.5mb patch on Fresh Updater for you that will take you from 3.3.0 to 3.3.0.1.

I am rooted with unrevoked 3 so I tried to flash fresh 2.2 today but my phone is stuck on the screen that says "fresh" after rebooting. It's been that way for an hour. I tried pulling the battery and reflashing from the bootloader but it does the exact same thing.

I've been playing around with a bunch of different ROMs, but I'm beginning to worry that I'm simply overlaying ROM after ROM after ROM. Other than factory reset and a dalwipe, is there anything else I should be doing to create a "clean" install?

I gotta say, after my first time messing with root and choosing my first rom as the Baked Snack 1.7, I couldn't be happier with it. I have an EVO and my wife has an Epic. As soon as she got her epic, I was immediately jealous of how smooth it ran. Well no more, as the Fresh Baked 1.7 improves performance and removes the 30fps limit making this thing run the way I wanted it to from day 1. So far everything on it is working, all the excess sprint stuff is gone, and it actually bugs less than the Official sprint build I was using before.
Keep up the good work devs, and whoever is interested in rooting, I recommend the fresh baked rom for sure. Although my comparison to other roms is non exist, to have the full feel of the phone as it was released with sense but running smooth is fantastic.

If I want to move apps to the sd. At this time, is it mandatory that I partition it? I am asking b/c in "titanium backup" theres an option to "move user apps to sd card". Can I use that option w/o partitioning the sd? And are they're certain apps I shouldn't move?

I recently rooted my Evo using UnRevoked 3.2 and flashed Fresh 3.3 on it. I'm generally happy with the results, the upgrade seemed to fix some problems with random reboots and screen locks I was having on stock (I'm thinking that moving a lot of apps to SD may have helped, as I seemed to be always low on memory).
In any case, I do think the phone is a bit "laggy" after the update. I downloaded FPS2D and checked my FPS, seem to average right around 50fps with std dev of 9. It seems like many people are getting much better screen performance using the custom netarchy 4.1.9 kernel. I'd like to give that a try but I have a couple of basic questions...
1. I will do a nandroid backup and Titanium before I flash, but I noticed that restoring apps last time was a drag...I use FolderOrganizer and it's a pain to get them all set up the way I had them. Does flashing the kernel wipe your phone clean? How much app/Sense restoring would I have to do assuming all goes well? I'm assuming that flashing the kernel has little to no effect on installed apps or Sense screen layouts...he cried hopefully...
2. I'm assuming here that Fresh 3.3 is compatible with netarchy 4.1.9, correct? Also, I saw an indication that netarchy 5.0 may be around the corner...is it better to wait? Or is reflashing a kernel that easy so there's no reason to wait?
3. It looks like an overclocking app is included in the netarchy kernel? Is it necessary to tweak the profiles, and if so what are the recommended tweaks for best performance? I have some experience with this coming from an overclocked Palm Pre, but I care a lot more about my Evo...I don't want to hurt it!
4. Battery performance is less of a concern than screen performance for me...I have chargers everywhere. Still, I'd like to get the best battery performance I can. I believe there may be "rogue" services on my phone that are eating up the battery (for example, I use Exchange ActiveSync and I turned it off recently because sync problems were causing it to stay on in the background). What's a good way (or app) to identify rogue apps/services and kill them?

I did the simple root while having sw version 1.32. Flashed over fresh 0.5.3. Everything works except receiving MMS. I can send them as much as I want, theres just an issue with sending. I get an error stating that the message failed to download. I am guessing I may need to reflash.

Just wanted to put in my two cents for those getting bad battery use with the Fresh 3.3.0.1 update.
Stock radio and PRI
Fresh 3.3.0.1
SetCPU profiles:
Normal: 652 / 245 onDemand
Screen off: 245 / 245 performance
9 hr 40 min down 15% with moderate use. I use Exchange (with push turned on) ~125 emails, gmail, ~25 text and ~20 minutes in phone calls, Twitter, BBC news feed and No 4G. And just a note that I had a reboot in there, so that took a few % away.

I had Fresh 0.2 on my Evo, and now I'm trying to flash Fresh 0.5.3 I get through all the steps (ClockworkMod recovery, wipe data, wipe cache, install zip, reboot), but then the phone keeps loading the white HTC EVO 4G screen for a few seconds, then rebooting. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

Just last week I changed from CM6 to Fresh 3.3.0.1
Reason being I started having random lockups, the screening staying black upon "waking up" with only the notification bar showing at the top, and half of the screen disappearing in landscape mode.
I was, shall we say, less than impressed by CM6, so I figured I would try something new.
Now, I am having a new problem. Upon entering my car, the bluetooth will connect, then after about 15 seconds will disconnect. If I go into "Devices", the car kit will say Paired but not connected. If I click it, it will not connect.
I never had this problem with the stock ROM, Unrevoked, CM6, or another ROM I had that I forget at the moment. Fresh 3.3.0.1 is the first time.
I LOVE the battery life compared to CM6, but I need my bluetooth to work.

I have been using Fresh 3.2 but have been playing around with other kernels (ie Toast, King, etc.). I want to return to the new kernel in Fresh 3.2 but can't seem to find it (I only want to flash the kernel so I don't have to do a complete wipe). Flipz says to use the Fresh Updater, but I see no options for kernel only.

Is anybody else noticing a huge decline in battery life after going from 1.0.1 to 3.1.01??? Saw another post that blamed it on the new FB app (which did seem to drain dramatically), so I uninstalled it and still doesn't improve battery life all that much. I don't have active sync on or anything, so I assume it's either the ROM or Froyo?

I installed this a few days ago. Runs fast, the battery was initially normal (meaning terrible), but after a few days of normal use the battery life is amazing. Still drops to 80% within an hour or so of coming off charger, then it just hangs on in the 60-80% range for hours and hours under semi-heavy use.

A couple of weeks ago, frustrated by the lack of attention from Sprint, I took the plunge and rooted. I flashed the Fresh ROM and have not looked back. Now that 2.1 is out, is there anyone out there that has hands on with both that can compare the two? Basically, I'm looking to find out if I should swap over to Eclair.
