Sep 8, 2010Is there a way to grab the scrollbar when trying to get farther down a long website? Even quick finger flicks don't go fast enough for really big sites.

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe Contacts app shows a button on the side of the screen that acts as a little thumb to allow you to quickly scroll the big list. I have a very long list that would benefit from this navigation behavior, but can't find any documentation as to how to enable it.
Is it a behavior that's built into the SDK, or must I write it myself?
I have an Android app that has both CursorAdapter based ListViews (backed by sqlite) as well as custom BaseAdapter based ListViews which are built on the fly from JSON pulled down from a server.
The data displayed in both is identical - an image and a couple of TextViews. My Cursor-based ListView has 3000 rows, the JSON-based ListView has about 30. However, scrolling down the list is significantly faster for the Cursor-based adapter. For the JSON-based lists, the data is all fetched before the rows are made visible. Images for both types of lists are downloaded on-demand.
I have both ListViews configured identically - both with fastScrollEnabled, scrollingCache and smoothScrollbar set to true.
I'm looking for leads on how to go about trying to figure out what's going on here and to potentially fix it so that the JSON-based ListViews as as fast as the Cursor-based ones.
On your phone? I only have a few (which I also only have a few on a PC).Just wondering about everybody else.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi assume this would be an Android stock browser problem, not a HTC Desire specific one? 1. i am have problems logging in to some sites one site in particular was always OK until i cleared all my cache and cookies, etc, now i can't log in to it at all the page just keeps reloading to the 'please log in' page, it shows no error, just behaves as if i hadn't included any log in details 2. some sites cannot load with an error saying "too many server redirects" - does anyone know what that's about? edit: i just installed Opera Mini and that allows me to log in straight away - but damn it looks ugly on the Desire

I enter my username and password, hit log in, and nothing. is this a common problem with the stock browser? I'm new to Android and not sure if there's something wrong with my settings or what, but I'm kind of mad about this. Any suggestions? And I would like to use the stock browser if I can, rather than download another one.

cant get any websites through the browser! whats going on! is this a fault on the phone?
I type out websites on Whatsapp and in my browser on a regular basis, but with auto-complete I end up saving and typing words that I didn't intend to because of the format of a URL. I could turn auto-complete off, but I still need it when I'm doing regular texting.
Is there any keyboard with a button that can turn auto-complete on/off when pressed? Or perhaps a home screen shortcut that can do this?
I can't even make a custom shortcut to the language & keyboard, and doing it manually takes too long.
When using Adfree, some sites will not work (specifically GameFAQs) and you cannot access some of the free gem/currency offers on some games. Is there a way to allow ads on some apps or websites but not others?

I turned it on, connected it to my home Wifi, used the correct password, and it says it is connected, and has been assigned an IP addressed. However, it isn't connecting to any websites or anything else in any of the browsers.
I have tried both the native and dolphin.
