HTC Droid Eris :: Recovery Mode / Loading Pkopaleks Cricket File Ruin?

Jul 17, 2010

I have a droid eris that's flashed to cricket & everything works except my apps. I searched around the forum & found Pkopaleks thread on how to finish the full flash to get working apps. The store I got my phone flashed at said it was impossible to get working apps because the apps are verizons (lies) & now I'm disappointed their not working. My question is that do all stores that flash phones root phones before the flash? If so will going to recovery mode and loading pkopaleks cricket file ruin what has already been done? Lastly if the store didn't have to root to flash how will I fix this problem?

HTC Droid Eris : Recovery Image - Loading New ROMS

May 22, 2010

So I have a rooted Eris (checked positively using terminal emulator) running a 2.1v3 ROM. What I'd like to do is eventually get to the 2.1 OTA ROM. Earlier I downloaded ROM Manager which, after some searching gave me some problems other people have been having. I can't flash to the ClockworkMod recovery image as it gives me a "Error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" message. I tried reinstalling, fixing permissions etc. all with the same results. So now i'm trying to flash Amon's recovery image instead using Terminal Emulator and the command line: flash_image recovery /sdcard/file_name_here.img only to yield the message that the file could not be found or something. I'm on a mac and I saw another way on here that involves running commands from your computer to your phone using the skd. I started to do that only to run into a "permission denied" when attempting the first "adb" command line. Am I missing something? I'm trying to read and re-read as closely as I can. I'm not entirely comfortable with this whole process but I'm trying to take the time to really understand it and i'm still having difficulties.

Eris FULLY on Cricket (Root Req'd). Can anyone tell me or point me to the steps I would need to go through to active on Cricket if I get the already rooted phone? Will I be ok to just take it in to any Cricket store?

Motorola Droid :: Can't Get Into Recovery Mode After Root

Sep 10, 2010

I think where I messed up was I then installed ROM Manager from the market to try to get overclocked. Before I did any searching or downloading for kernels, I tried to do a backup using ROM Managers Clockwork utility. It constantly crashed my phone; I didn't get one successful backup. So I was going to try using SPRecovery, but when I turn off my phone, then turn it on holding the X key, the Motorola logo stays there forever, blinks, and then reappears again. I have to release the X key for it to get passed the logo, but then it just boots normally.I've already uninstalled ROM Manager, but do I need to do anything different so I can use SPRecovery?I'm thinking my phone is confused as to which backup/recovery mode to launch.Did I just mess up my phone?I'm a total noob at this and feel like a moron.

I tried to manually update, but recovery mode doesn't seem like its working - I see the triangle/question mark but there is also a phone laying down right next to it. No combination of keys will get me to a menu to apply the update.zip. I tried flashing back to 2.01 and 2.0 and updating from there - but the recovery mode stayed the same. Does anyone know where to find the full Froyo stock .SBF files?

HTC Aria :: Updating To Android 2.2 Ruin Unlock?

Nov 4, 2010

I recently purchased an unlocked HTC Aria. Since I do not have the unlock code myself, if the phone were to lock again I'd be SOL. I intend to update the phone to android 2.2, and am concerned that the phone will relock once updated. The phone is the Asian model and is running software similar to the North American with some slight differences. Will it be possible for for me to update to the North American Froyo and make things more 'American' for myself? Has anyone had an experience updating an unlocked phone's firmware? What was the result?
