HTC Desire :: Unable To Partitioning SD Card

Aug 26, 2010

I'm having a nightmare and really need some help from someone a bit more savvy than me. I've been looking at various threads and cant make my arse from my elbow. I seriously have tried guys and not just being lazy. So, I've bought a new SD card and I want to use apps2sd+ which is built into the LeeDroid rom that I have managed to flash using ClockworkMod Recovery. The problem I have is making a partition on my card. I've downloaded Rom Manager but when it goes to do its stuff, it reboots with an exclamation mark and a droid. What/where am I doing or going wrong?

HTC Desire :: Unable to partitioning SD card

HTC Desire :: Low Phone Storage / Partitioning Sd Card

Aug 15, 2010

I rooted a few weeks back and very happy with everything apart from I keep getting low on space notification for my phone storage, when I rooted I didn't bother with partitioning my sd card as read about Mod Install Location which basically forces apps to be installed onto the sd card and didn't think I would need to install anything on my internal storage but it seems I keep getting low storage notification. So I am assuming some of the apps I install have to use a little bit of the internal memory? I used Cache Mate and checked all the apps etc. So considering doing the partitioning to trick my phone to think it has more space but wondering will I lose everything or have to back it up? Or any other tips to free up internal space as it seems ROM I am using (neophyte 1.6) didn't free up much space.

HTC Desire :: Partitioning SD Card - "Move To Phone"?

Oct 30, 2010

I've been reading up on partitioning my SD Card for the Apps 2 SD functionality. Few n00b questions to clear up if I can! 1) Once partitioned, I believe that all app data will be able to be installed on the SD, as opposed to leaving a few hundred KB's on the internal? If I make a direct copy of all SD Card contents, partition the SD, and copy back, will the App's still appear 'as normal', or is a fresh backup/install required? 2) If the answer to the first question is that I CAN simply copy back to the SD, can I then use the "Move to Phone" and "Move to SD Card" options to move ALL of the app data, including the original few hundred KB's originally on internal? Feel like a douche asking these just can't quite get my head around it trawling through the other threads.

General :: Partitioning SDHC Card Without Card Reader

Sep 8, 2013

I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy Blaze phone, installed Titanium BackUp and now would like to send my app data to my nice 16GB SDHC card. The problem is, I can't get it partitioned probably because my laptop's card reader can't really read SDHC cards, even in adapters. It recognizes that the card is there, but then wants to format it and won't format it. I tried using the Mini Tools Partition Wizard, but each attempt failed, claiming I had a bad card. The card works beautifully in the phone, so I don't think that's the problem, especially since brand new cards get the same reaction.

Is there a way to partition the card from my phone? I have good reason to believe that my memory problems have a lot to do with the boatload of email I have saved in GMail, or the fact that Google+ somehow decided I really needed *all* of my photos on my phone, via Picasa (another source of angst and muttering).

General :: SD Card Partitioning

Sep 10, 2012

I'm making a partition on my (clean) micro SD card to use to increase my phone's internal storage. The intent was to go from 200 or so MB to 8 GB, because some apps can't be moved to the SD card and must be on the phone's storage. My question is, can I give the partition a certain format (FAT, FAT32, NTFS, EXT2, EXT3, Unformatted, etc.) and have it work, or is there more I need to do?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Way Of Rooting My Phone / Partitioning SD Card

Apr 6, 2010

So I've tried and tried again using RA and other linux based programs (GParted) to get my 8GB card to partition for apps2sd. Everything always runs smoothly and shows that the card is partitioned correctly. But then upon reboot the SD card shows full fat32 memory (6.9 GB). No matter what I do, after reboot, the partitions never happen. When I used GParted, and then loaded the SD card on the phone it always says that the SD card is damaged and I need to reformat. I've done that and rerun everything to no avail. Someone please tell me this issue is that the SD card is corrupted and I should give up. Because I've followed everything to a T as far as partitioning. With that I'll say that I had no problems rooting my phone, flashing ROM's/RA's, etc, and have been able to do whatever I want as far as new things to load. I've finally decided after all this time to do apps2sd, and I literally screwed around for 5+ hrs today, trying to partition the SD card properly. Any thoughts?

HTC Desire :: Correct Partitioning Settings - Reflash Rom Again?

Jul 25, 2010

i have a question re the whole process. i used unrevoked to root my desire n used adamg's froyo sense w/o partitioning d sd card. upon boot up to the rom, i noticed that the internal storage has the same storage space left of about only 20mb which is basically the same as with the original rom. i now used rom manager n partioned my sd card 512mb for both ext n swap file. n upon restarting, it now has an internal mem of more than 120mb.

1. Are my partitioning settings correct? 512mb for both ext and swap files? If not, what should be the ideal setings and can please someone explain what ext n swap files are and what they are for?
2. Since I partitioned the drive 'after' installing the froyo sense by adamg, do i need to reflash the rom again?
3. I noticed that after installing a number of apps from Market, it comes to a point that it's stuck at 'starting to download' only after i deleted some other apps do i notice that i can download addtl apps again. is this because of the method i did in installing the new rom?

Android :: Partitioning File System On Phone?

Sep 6, 2010

I'm trying to re-partition an SDCard on Android, with root access. What I'm trying to do is resize the 5.9GB partition into 3GB, and then make an EXT partition with the remaining space. I can think of two ways to do this, but I'm a bit stumped in doing either of them: 1) Cross-compile GNU parted, and run it on Android to modify the filesystem in place. This would be my preferred method, but I've been trying to statically compile parted using scratchbox and haven't had much luck, and I haven't been able to dynamically compile for Android in scratchbox either. 2) Directly modify the 512 byte MBR using some utility on my computer, and then dd the file on Android. I have a tool to view the MBR (mbrwiz), but I don't know how to edit it. Does anybody have any suggestions for either, or possibly a third route?

HTC Hero :: Advice On Partitioning Prior To ROM Update

Jan 6, 2010

I am currently running MoDaCo 2.5, firmware version 1.5. Been busy the past few weeks with work and what not, so I haven't been keeping up to date with the ROM updates. I checked today and found that the latest version is 3.0 and I have been reading up some threads where I read that apps2sd can be done on the phone itself now after updating to the latest ROM. Can some one give me some detailed explanations on the methods of achieving apps2sd. Would I have to partition the SD card prior to updating the ROM, or would it be advisable to do so after the update?

HTC EVO 4G :: Unable To Access SD Card From PC

Jun 4, 2010

I can format the card from the phone. I can save pictures to the card from the camera app. The phone sees the card properly. When I plug in the pc usb cable I select "disk drive" but the drive doesn't show up on the computer. Sometimes I see the drive (Drive G) pop up for a split second then disappear. Sometimes it never appears. I always get the "choose a connection type" message and select disk drive. The notification bar shows "USB DEBUGGING." I have tried it with USB debugging off or on. I have also installed HTC SYnc but that didn't help (and doesn't connect). Computer says "USB device not recognized." It always worked fine with my MyTouch 3G. There is nothing amiss in device manager.

Android :: Doing Coding In Linux Through A Virtual Machine On Windows VS Partitioning

Mar 29, 2010

I already have experience with setting up virtual machines, running them and other minor tasks. Im a gamer, so I wont get rid of windows (for now at least...) but I do want to be a great programmer and to be involved with the Open-Source community Id like to know if its a good idea to do my programming in linux through a virtual machine, vs giving it a partitioned section of the HDD. Id like to know about performance pros and cons and functionality. The type of programming I intend to dive into : Android Dev, Web Dev, Desktop Dev...More Android and Web right now though. I do web designing as well, so dreamweaver is added as an "essential". But im sure I can do dreamweaver files and upload them to the server after programming in Linux...Right? And any info on IDE's in Linux for the above mentioned are appreciated, but i would prefer going the coding route and understanding the essence of whats happening "under the covers".

General :: SD Card - Unable To Format Or Delete?

Jan 25, 2014

I have an extremely weird SD Card behavior with my Note 2:

After deleting files and rebooting, the files reappear.

I can't format the SD Card using the Android OS - it goes black screen and requires me to pull out the battery in order to start the device.

I removed the SD Card and attached it to my laptop's SD Card slot and tried formatting using Windows 7- the format process completed after ~30-40 minutes, yet the SD Card appeared UNCHANGED!

I used multiple SD Card formatting tools, still no dice - they either complain about write protection, that they can't start, they start and stop halfway with an error, you name it.

It's like the SD Card has built in protection that keeps the files in it in stasis form, never ever witnessed such a behavior in any storage device. What gives?

General :: MicroSD Card - Unable To Add Files On It From Laptop

Jun 10, 2013

I have a 16 GB SDcard. I have used it on my Samsung Galaxy Ace for around 8 months now and it has worked fine. Today I when I tried connecting it to my laptop to update my music I faced some problems.

My computer detects it and displays all files, but I am unable to make any changes to the the folders/files i.e. delete, cut or copy new files onto it. I was also unable to format it. So I formatted it via the phone itself and tried it on my laptop again. I am still unable add new files to it. However, it works without any problems on my phone.

Since I do not have my the USB cord, I am using a Samsung Micro SD adapter to access it on my laptop.
