View 3 RepliesI have karbonn A15 android ICS(4.0.4) smartphone, its not rooted. I want to move the app Data to my external sd card, i tried to move the data folder from the internal SD (android/data) to External SD (root folder), just to check whether it releases any memory in the storage section in phone settings. but the internal storage was same, there was no change, where does the app data resides in the internal memory, its fine if i can move app data manually to the external sd card.
I also want some clarification on below questions:
1. Also i want to know whether there is any risk rooting phone like (Bricking Phone), as i have bricked my previous Galaxy Ace when i rooted and used ROM manager.
2. Also i have heard about Folder Binding app which automatically transfers App Data to External Sd Card, is there any risk of bricking phone.
3. Whats the easiest method to root Karbonn A15 phone, i am not that tech savvy, so easiest method would be grateful in rooting device.
My concern is just to move App Data to External Sd Card, because i have some app whose Data increase very frequently (E.g: FireFox app).
Now I'm better. On to the question. Is there a way of moving apps from the internal SD to the external SD on a 2.1 rooted Cappy?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to android and I got myself a Micromax A110 running on android ics with 2 gb of internal SD card memory the internal memory just isn't enough for installing heavy games and storing and downloading large videos and music, so I added a 32 gb external micro SD card.. the card shows in my file manager and its contents are accessible, most apps like ttpod, ttorrent, vlc, chrome etc don't detect my external card. They only access the contents of my internal SD card, download to it.. I can't set the default directory to the external card...
When I installed nfs most wanted to my phone, it asked me to free up data in my SD card or insert another one as there was no space left due to obvious reasons of my internal SD card being filled with other apps.. I uninstalled and reinstalled it after setting the default storage location to the external storage... I found that the game installed in the internal storage this time and on startup, it gave the same message..
Is it a common problem or a limitation to the OS? Does my phone needs to be rooted for the purpose?
I have finally managed to root my tablet. Its a samsung galaxy tab 3.7.0 wifi only with 8GB of internal storage, most of which is taken up by system memory. Its model is the SM-T210.

1. Moving apps to SD card on rooted phones means - apps will be moved to Internal SD (USB Storage) or External SD card? Howto find the path?
2. If I move apps to SD card, will those be purged while I make wipe data+wipe cache+dalvik+Format System procedure to flash a new ROM? Or it'll remain in SD and catch up back when the new ROM is in?
3. What does a Nandroid backup normally take? Would it keep ROM+ Apps in System Partition or just the ROM?
When I setup my A100 (running the ICS OTA update), I didn't have an SD card installed. It created it's own "fake" sdcard which applications use.
Now that I've added a real external sdcard, I can't get the applications to use that for their data instead of the "fake" location.
I've copied everything from the "fake" location to the new sdcard.
I suspect the problem is that the new, real sd card is called "external_sd" and the old, "fake" location is called "sdcard".
Do I need to reinstall those applications?
I am NOT trying to move applications to the external SD card; I just wants apps that normally store data there to do so instead of in the "fake" location.
Also, I am not rooted.
I'm running JB 4.1.2 and I've pretty much used up all the internal phone storage with installing games and other apps. I have an 8MB external SD with nothing on it and I'm basically wanting to transfer either the whole of android onto it if thats possible, or alternatively if thats not possible then just the larger files and folders like game data (for example GTA vice city obb takes up a whopping 1.5gb alone).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for some help. I have the HTC Hero and I really have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to rooting or anything like that at all. I'm willing to pay someone for their time for this: I need someone to walk me through the whole process of rooting my phone and then be able to move my downloaded apps onto my SD card.If someone is interested in helping, please let me know. I'm sure for a lot of you this is a pretty simple thing, but for myself, well I have two left hands.
Is it possible to transfer music from the internal sd to an external sd on the ZTE Supreme? My daughter is getting error messages that she doesn't have enough memory to load more music, but her external sd card has about 29GB of space on it! Someone told me that I will have to erase everything on the phone and put the sd card and then reinstall everything. Is this true?
I did try getting the x-plore app to move the files, but I can't figure out how to use the app.
how to move the music and/or how to use the x-plore app
Igot a tasker task here to move the pics from the internal storage to the external sd card when there re new pics.
I actually saw this task on the internet by the others.
However, i dunno how to set a suitable profile to activate this task.
Taking this task as an example! When i hv new pics downloaded or saved from picspeed, i want them to be moved to a folder i created in the external sd card! How should i set the profile.
Has anyone been able to do this yet? My option to move to the SD Card is grayed out for for every app...

I just purchased a new 8GB micro SD card for my Optimus L9, the intention was to allow me to move my current apps from my internal storage to the SD card, and download new apps to the SD card. I have tried the strategy of clicking on an apps setting and clicking the button that should be halfway down the page that allows me to move it from the internal storage to the SD card, but the button, for any of my apps, does not appear. It's not like its there and I cant click it, its really not even there.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFirts off, I would like to say hi to everyone, since this is my first post. Also, sorry if this topic has been discussed already, but I did a search and was unable to find what I needed. Alright, lets get to the question. I have a Moto Droid and just recently I received a notification about running out of internal memory space. Is there a way to move the apps from my internal memory to my SD card without rooting the phone? If this is not possible is there any way to free up more internal memory space?

View 14 Replies View Relatedi got a samsung galaxy s4 mini the other days and i bought a sd card 8gb kingston class 4, specially for games. i downloaded asphalt 8, automaticaly installed on the internal memory, ocuppied 1.5 gb. when i'm moving it on sd card with "manager apps" it does move but the game occupy totally 3 gb, 1.5 on internal memory and 1.5 on external memory. when i'm moving it with "my files" android>data/obb etc etc, it doesn't work the game, it occupy just 1.5 in internal memory and when i'm starting the game it says to me that i must to download the game, the 1.5gb that i'm talking about.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an LG Optimus L5 II (LG-E450B) running stock Android 4.1.2 (non-rooted) Kernel Version 3.4.0. My carrier is Virgin Mobile (Canada). I recently realized that the stock 2GB of internal memory is not nearly enough for me, so I went out and bought a 16GB Sandisk microSD card. I put music on it, set photos to autosave on it, etc. which all worked great. However, I have been unable to get some apps to move over correctly.
I realize that some apps can't really get moved (at least without rooting, etc). The app I am specifically trying to work with is iBird pro. It's App Info appears as such:
Total: 641 MB
App: 12.68 MB
USB storage app: 628 MB
Data: 4.00 KB
SD Card: 0.00B
The "Move to SD Card" option is available, but when I do it all that it does is drop the App to 3.51MB and up the USB storage app to 637MB. All of which stays on the internal memory. Obviously it is only moving 9MB or so of App to the virtual SD internal memory (which I believe is what shows up in my files manager as /storage /sdcard0, so it doesn't actually move it to the SD card (though a few other apps have sucessfully been moved).
I have tried using App2SD, but it says that the program is not supported by my device (and the iBird Pro shows up as "Phone Only" anyway).
I have tried the ADB hack trick set-install-location 2 and reinstalled the app and still nothing, it just saved on the internal memory.
Finally, when I open the app, it also downloads another ~600MB of database data (bird songs, pictures, etc), which also saves on the internal memory. Or at least tries to but the memory gets full and it stops the download.
I have a 4gb sd and had it for a while. yesterday i got a new phone and it came with a 16gb sd card pre installed. at first i was going to use it for something else but this phone records hd videos and in doing so may take much more memory than normal, including that this phone takes mp4 videos. So I want to know a safe way to move all my data, music photos, video etc to the 16gb. I seen some people say drag all the data, do i actually drag ALL FOLDERS, or only certain folders?

I installed [ALPHA][ROM][4.1.1] CyanogenMod 10 for Samsung Galaxy S http:[url]....
ROM (20120723):
I can't see my external SD card via PC. I can see only internal SD.
Recently I started using 32GB card with my Micromax Canvas HD and everything is working only for when I try to connect my mobile to PC for file transfer via usb storage I can see only two drive one of CD drive of mmx and other internal sd drive and I can see one more drive but it is not mounted which is my external sd drive when clicked on it, it asked to enter disk.
Solution tried so far by me
1. I have erase external sd card in mobile itself.
2. Reset the entire phone.
3. Uninstalled the mmx driver on my PC and reinstalled it.
I have purchased iball slide 3G 7271 ( 3G model ) (Android version 4.0.4) in India. Available Interneal SD memory 2GB.I have external micro SD card slot expandable upto 32GB.
I have downloaded and installed many games in it...but now whenever I try to download new ones , it says "INSUFFICIENT SD MEMORY"
In order to use my external SD card for installing the games and other things....
I have gone through Google search and found ""FolderMount "" software and downloaded to my tab.

I was a self confessed iphone lover.. But a few days ago curiosity got me and I decided to get a Galaxy S3.
I can't say how much a love this phone and am a bit ashamed that I didn't realize how great android devices were. So far I have been able to find out on my own how to do pretty much everything I needed done except for one thing.
I work in music hence have a lot of music on my phone. I didn't want to restart the cataloging process of recreating playlist after playlist. So i found a solution to transfer my itunes to my phone.
I did this with Air Sync and DoubleTwist. The main problem I have is it put all of my music on my internal memory card and now it is full. I have a 32gb external SD card that is empty right now and was wondering if there is a solution to quickly transfer all of my music from the internal memory to the SD card. Furthermore I would like for the air sync / doubleTwist software to put all future music on the SD card as well.
I bought a lucid Droid phone from Verizon. And it didn't come with an SD Card. So I bought 1 at Walmart. And I'm wondering how to move my music from my internal memory of my phone to my SD card.
View 1 Replies View Relatedso i've been in many roms, custom and stock...and since i know cyanogen i think they have done the ''move aplications to sd'' in every rom. i remember flashing one cm6 once on my x10 mini and see in features: default app2sd in cyanogenmod settings, so i dunno why people keep asking about app2sd or link2sd suport on roms like cm7 or cm9
so...whats the diference between moving an app to sd card from setting and do it froms app2sd?
it is really necesary on gingerbread and ics?
if it so...works better on ext partitions or fat ones?
If you enable device encryption on devices with external sd card, the external sd card always remains unencrypted. As you cannot really control for every app where to store its data, you have some of your app-data on internal sd (encrypted) and some of you app-data on external sd (encrypted). To me this seems to be a security hole, concerning device encryption. why cm team does not include encryption for external sd cards, like some oems do? They put so much effort in security features and on the other side they leave parts of the local storage encrypted?
