Aug 23, 2013I am planning on getting the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 soon but I am going to buy it unlocked. Is it possible to root an unlocked phone. I have not seen any guides on Youtube or online yet that show guides on rooting a certain unlocked phone. I want to root it as soon as it is possible to root it safely. I am going to buy it unlocked but I am not going to get a plan from T-Mobile from it until January. My main question is: Is it possible to root a smartphone that does not have a sim card in it and is bought unlocked and if there is what guide do I use(like do I use the guide for how to root the galaxy note 3 tmobile edition or att edition or verizon edition.)

Sep 13, 2013I was able to root Karbonn A37 (MTK6577) using the software from t URL.....After the root process it instalsl this app - URL.....This app is in Chinese and it manages all the root permission requests as well as installs its own su and some other files.
I have tried to root using many other methods available here and only the above method was successful. After rooting I tried installing SuperUser and found that su is always getting overwritten. I would really love to use the standard English version of su and superuser, but if I uninstall the the Chinese app, the root access goes away.
Any way to make root permanent without the Chinese app and mange root permissions using superuser. Also what is this Chinese app doing, that none of our other rooting methods are not able to do?

Nov 24, 2012I've obtained a Samsung Galaxy S3 from a Chinese vendor (live in China). It seems legit (weight, size, runs Chinese (no-market) Android 4.1), but upon starting it with volume down, I don't go into download mode but into something called "factory mode". A blue menu with the option to run tests. When in factory mode and connected over USB, Windows 7 recognises two devices: MT65xx Android Phone and CDC Serial. It doesn't have drivers for it.
I've found some drivers online but they aren't recognised as the right drivers for those two devices. Result is that neither Heimdall nor Odin will be able to communicate with the phone to install ClockWorkMod. It only seems to have a standard Android recovery which does not accept my CyanogenMod Rom file (Invalid OTA package, Update.zip is not correct).

Nov 19, 2013Never had any problems, but just today, my phone just shut off. When it shut off, it kept vibrating, just small pulses over and over until I took the battery out. When it shut off, it had 100% battery, so I put the battery back in hoping it would turn back on. The samsung logo/boot screen came up, then it just shut off. It does this repeatedly. I tried putting it into recovery so I can reset it, but it doesn't boot into recovery or download mode.
Strange things: Whenever I hold down the volume down key, it does the vibrating pulse thing until i take my finger off it. And when it's on the charger, it does the vibrating thing the whole time until I unplug it, even if the battery isn't in it.

So in the messaging app I can start a group chat but when I get texts back it just comes into that friend's name chat, not the group chat I started. But my main concern is that I am part of a group chat with my friends but it doesn't put those in a folder when they are sent to me. It just comes up as an MMS. I have tried GOSMSPro but maybe I am dumb and group chatting might not be possible to get all the messages in the same folder?
