Any way to allow certain phone calls to come through when your phone is in airplane mode? I would like to set my phone up so that in an emergency my husband and children can reach me even if my phone is in airplane mode.

I did install Locale, I then noticed that the phone always goes into Airplane Mode, so I uninstalled locale but the problem persists - I've seen loads of other threads about this with other handsets, but got no real ideas of how to solve it?

- Camera preview does not display full scene that is captured in the image, especially noticeable in Google Goggles
- Phone will sometimes dial random contacts instead of the desired one when making a call to a contact with multiple stored numbers
- Pandora freezes phone (requiring battery pull) if headphones or power plug pulled out during playback
- Screen sometimes comes on with no input from user, draining battery
- Phone still has Airplane mode issue (may be hardware?)
- Proximity sensor is either broken by 2.1 or has a bug: screen stays on during calls and will sometimes turn off during use, requiring a finger over sensor to see screen.
I have music via the cloud on my Galaxy Note 3. On my old laptop, I had to download the songs to my hard drive/USB to listen to music when in airplane mode. I tried to move some music to my micro SD card today but cant seem to find the appropriate part of the settings.

It would enter airplane mode and the only way to get out of the mode was to remove battery and then restart. That always didn't work either. This was unacceptable for 200 dollars. The battery was also a big ? It seemed that the battery life was non-existant. I give this phone an E on a grading scale. "E" for effort. Will wait for next Sprint Android phone. That might be a while.
View 49 Replies View RelatedMy son was playing with my phone a few days ago. When I got it back, and turned the screen back on, wavesecure had locked the phone. I asked my son how he turned it on, he said all he did was put the phone into airplane mode. Wierd I thought.
Was flying yesterday. Purposely put the phone in airplane mode. Turned phone back on, and wow, wavesecure had locked it again.
I know this isn't a feature! Has this happened to anyone else. I have uninstalled Wavescure. BTW, this issue of airplane mode and wavesecure has not happened to me until this week. I have had wavesecure on my phone since nov, and have used airplane mode without these issues.

QUESTION: How do I enable Airplane Mode "permanently" so that a child cannot disable this mode?
EXPLANATION: I have several android devices (Droid Xs, specifically) that have clean ESNs and are not currently being used on any carrier. I also have children (5,3,1).
I've SBF'd, rooted, and removed all unnecessary APKs, leaving only a few educational apps and games for the children to use. And, yes, I enable Airplane Mode. They love having their own little "mini" tablets and being able to be like the grown-ups.
Unfortunately, the oldest has a knack for pushing all sorts of buttons and inadvertently turning the phone's radio back on. I know that I have not associated the ESN with any carrier; however, as I'm sure most of you know, when you dial a number with a non-subscribed number, it still asks you if you want to make the call and charge it to a credit card - at least, this is what the phone did the last time this happened.
So, bottom line, I want to disable my child's access to any carrier's cellular and data networks. And I want to be the only one that could possible re-enable that access.
If there was some way to enable Airplane Mode "permanently" and remove access to all toggles, settings that could disable Airplane Mode, then this would ease my mind. Obviously, I would want this condition to exist only until I either reflashed the phone or had to do something very convoluted (perhaps editing some setting manually via command line or ADB?).
I had my tablet (ASUS TF201) on face recognition mode with a backup of a drawn pattern and my friend decided to keep getting it wrong and now it asks me to log into my google account, i know my google credentials are correct. but my Wifi isn't switched on, is there any way i can enable wifi or bypass the google verification and put in my pattern without restoring?
I've got the device rooted and im pretty sure the debug mode is enabled in my develper settings.
I need some app that will turn on Airplane mode at night or atleast turn off Data connection. For specific time period. I found out that data are consuming too much of my battery at night.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a Samsung Droid Charge, which I've rooted. I had used it for about 3 months with minimal issues. Yesterday I noticed my phone was stuck in airplane mode, and no amount of phone codes, setting tweaks, and soft resets would get it out. I backed up everything with Titanium and did a factory reset. This gave me my signal back, and I started the process of restoring everything via Titanium. After the restore completed, I was prompted to add my PIN for my Exchange account, which I did. I then soft reset my phone...
When the phone rebooted, I was in airplane mode again, and the PIN unlock screen was blocking entry to my phone. I enter in the PIN I had set a few minutes previously...and the phone rejects it. I try it a couple of times just to be sure, and no dice. I tried what I thought were defaults, like 1111 or 0000 or 1234...nothing. After my attempts ran out, the phone hard reset itself again.
Just to see if I wasn't crazy, I tried the whole process again and got the exact same result.
Why is my PIN being modified without my knowing, and what is it being modified to? Additionally, why do I get stuck in airplane mode after restoring my Titanium backup? I'd like to be able to use my phone without worrying about the need to wipe it after a soft reset...
Any app that is like aTimeTool for iPhone. It essentially allows you to create triggers that will turn on/off wifi, stuff like that and also send messages. I was wondering if there was something like that for Android.

It happened after I flash my phone with cyanogenmod ROM, i flashed a couple of google apps and a custom kernel. I THINK when i clicked a certain CPU speed in overclocking, it kinda stuck and restarted and had no signal at all... I flashed it again a couple of times even the beta cyanogenmod and dardroidXD, factory reset, wipe data, cache, remove battery. i flashed it with the original firmware with different version but still no avail..
I am trying to get Tasker to turn Airplane mode when the wifi is disconnected IF theres no cell signal and then turn airplane mode off again agter 2 seconds. At the momnt this is what I got:

When I press the PLAY button on the task it does turns on Airplane mode but when I test it by turning off my wifi it shows that the Task is active but Airplane mode is not turned on.
Does anyone know if it is possible to set default numbers in my phone for text messages and phone calls for individual contacts, please? I would like to set up the phone so it defaults to mobile phone numbers for text messages, so I don't accidentally try to send a text message to a landline.I have fiddled weith the phone for ages, but haven't yet found the option to do this.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if there are any apps that take advantage of GPS while in airplane mode? I was really hoping the reason why apps like Maps or Google Sky didn't work without a network connection because all that data could not be stored on the phone's internal memory. Now that we can move apps to the SD card, are there any apps out there that work with the cell radio off? Or do you think we will see more of this? The only reason I ask is because I travel out of the country alot and it sure would be nice to be able to use an app like Google Maps when it would be most useful.PS.when I use the "GPS Test" app in airplane mode, the phone is seeing plenty of satellites at least 10.Also it would be nice to be able to use Google Translate when it would be most useful trying to speak the language in another country although I realize that is totally unrelated to GPS but it is related to apps2sd just irritating that it doesn't work without a network connection again, I would assume that the network connection is needed for data storage purposes? why not store it on the SD card it is only text in this case.

I have looked and I can't find a widget that will disable the cellular radio without disabling the Bluetooth. Since many planes have WiFi Internet now, it should be okay to use bluetooth which uses the same 2.4GHz frequency. Does anyone know of a widget that will disable the cellular service without disabling the bluetooth radio?

I can't make phone calls but I can use the internet. The part I don't like it that it beeps when it gets the 4g signal with notifications about emails and stuff. Anyone know how to fix it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have done lots of research on this, and Im confused at what to do.This is my first android phone, im trying to figure it out.I have had sprint for a few months, and coverage inside my house is terrible. Dropped calls, late texts, slow internet on my Blackberry Tour.I got the Evo, so that i could use WiFi. But, im concerned that the low signal is killing my battery. Its been a lot worse, but at the moment im at 37% Time without signal.Ive researched and found a few things:
1- I dialed *#*#4636#*#* and switched to CDMA Auto Prl
2- Also, I use WiFi while at home, but i cant turn on airplane mode, because i need to answer some calls and some texts. However, leaving airplane mode off, im concerned it will kill the battery faster while its searching for signal.
Im thinking of calling sprint and asking for the 'Airrave'.Would that fix the time with out signal, give me better reception, and save the battery?

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter updating to 2.2 on tmobile when it eventually came to us how ever many weeks ago, all seemed fine untill the phone rebooted and turned back on in airplane mode - try as I did, I couldnt turn it off, none off the different ways to do it seemed to work (home screen widget, long hold on on/off button, settings-wireless and networks-airplane mode off)- I eventually, having called t-mobile who where almost as helpfull as a bag of jelly had to factory reset which did seem to sort it out.The reason I am writting now is because after reading the threads about how often people turn their phones off, I did just this. Low and behold the ruddy airplance mode was on when phone turned back on and same again, couldnt turn it off. I turned the phone on and off for about 10 times and eventually it seemed to work although I couldnt tell you why in that particular instance. Now this isnt a major issue as I do actually keep the phone turned on for the most, but I am obviously tyring to foresee possible future problems..ie battery running out, having to reboot because or a dodgy app etc Id like to know if anyone has any ideas of why this happens and anything I can do to avoid this in future. I did read an old thread on here about airplane mode sticking because of sim card age but not sure why this would make a difference, it was fine with 2.1 and only started happening after the froyo update.
