I have Picture data in byte rgb_565 array, and I want convert it in a productive way into argb array. Right now I have found only one (little slow) way to do this: Bitmap mPhotoPicture = BitmapFactory.decodeByteArray(imageData, 0 , imageData.length);
where imageData is my byte[] array in rgb_565, and then: int pixels[] = new int[CameraView.PICTURE_HEIGHT*CameraView.PICTURE_WIDTH]; mPhotoPicture.getPixels(pixels, 0,PICTURE_WIDTH, 0, 0, PICTURE_WIDTH, PICTURE_HEIGHT);
The point is I believe creating a Bitmap object is exacting and not necessary in this case. Is there any other faster way to convert rgb_565 array into argb array? I need this because making image processing on rgb_565 array seems to be a little annoying. Or maybe it is not so hard?

I am trying to make an application that would be able to send the user's voice over the network using RTP. I am using the ported stack from hsc (JLIBRTP) and I am able to record user's voice in a saperate thread. the problem is that jlibrtp uses has a class named RTPSession that is responsible for the session and has the sendData method that takes a byte [] as argument and the AudioFormat class I am using to record user's voice is in AudioFormat.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT wich is short. I have tried using 8bit audioformat but I get an illigalargument exception in my htc magic and in my emulator. So is there any way I can convert the short [] to byte [] ? would that be acceptable in order of voice quality?, is the above error a known bug for htc magic or the platform doesn't support 8bit audio format?

I'm new to android developing but right now I'm working on an application that displays Random Facts. Since I don't want it to be in a random order, I would like to have them in a list. I would like to order through them one by one and show them using TextView.
Resources res = getResources();
myString = res.getStringArray(R.array.FactsArray);
That's what I have so far. If I'm right, that just establishes the array so I can be able to use it later. What I had before was rgenerator which chose a random string from the array and displayed it when I clicked a button.
CODE:................
But Like I said, I would like to just order through them one by one when a button is clicked.

Is there a simple way to convert a JsonArray to a standard Java Array? Obviously, you can iterate and do it explicitly, but I wanted to see if there was a direct way to do so.

I am (supposedly) catching NullPointerException and returning 0 if that happens. But occasionally I get NullPointerException failure anyway. Is catching it this way no enough to prevent this failure?
private char getCharBehindCursor (int offset){ // get a single char behind cursor + offsett CharSequence cSeq; InputConnection inputConnection = getCurrentInputConnection(); if (inputConnection != null){ try { cSeq = inputConnection.getTextBeforeCursor (offset + 1, 0); } catch (NullPointerException npe) { /* failure*/ return (char)0; }
if (cSeq.length() == offset+1){ return cSeq.charAt(0); } } return (char)0;

I'm using a lazy image loader for my ListView with the following code inside getView():
CODE:.........
And the following inside the AsyncImageLoader class:
CODE:........
For an unknown reason to me, after to switched from using the common SQLiteOpenHelper to a custom one which allows me to store my database on the SD card, every 6th or 7th image that is loaded throws a NullPointer at:
imageCallback.imageLoaded((Bitmap) message.obj, wallpaperNumber);
I've checked everything and don't actually know what variable is actually null.

I just want to read <string-array> resource elements into a String array. I don't want to make a view or anything and mess with adapters - just want to transfer the elements. Is there a built in class for this? Or do I need to treat the resource file as a regular file?

I'm trying to use NinePatchDrawables in a LayerDrawable, but for some reason I get a NullPointerException. I've isolated the problem to the getPadding() method; the following code reproduces the problem:
CODE:...............
What am I missing? Do I have to do anything special with the NinePatch? The program seems to work if I use the NinePatch directly (instead of putting it in a LayerDrawable).

I'm trying to change the content of a row in ListView programmatically. In one row there are 3 TextView and a ProgressBar. I want to animate the ProgressBar if the 'result' column of the current row is zero.
After reading some tutorials and docs, I came to the conclusion that LayoutInflater has to be used and getView() - overriden. Maybe I am wrong on this. code...

Im trying to display this listview, but I keep getting a: 07-17 21:14:22.233: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(349): java.lang.NullPointerException
I think I know what the problem is but I dont know how to fix it.
I have a String array which I will be using to be displayed in my list
CODE:.....
Dont worry the parser works great. the only problem I see with it is that the parser doesnt know how many strings the website will have so I am setting the String array in the parser to be very big: String substr[] = new String[250];
But I know that mostly there are only like 11 to 13 values that I will be storing in that array, the problem I think is when i do this:
CODE:..............
Since the String array is set to have up to 250 values in it and I only actually store say 12 then there are a null entries so when I run the code it shows me my list view, but when I get to the bottom of the view it force closes and the log tells me that there was nullpointer. I can tell how many entries I collected while I am parsing, but how do I tell my listview to only show say 12 items in the list so there wont be any null entries. or is there any other solution for my problem.
I tried doing what you said, but now I am getting a:
CODE:......
This is what I did:
CODE:.................

I am getting a nullpointerexception. Only thing is, it doesn't appear to be there at all devices, so is rather strange to me.. an idea is that it would be Bitmap, but since I declare it myself I guess this is not correct? Since it is not happening on my own device I just have to be sure...

Bitmap result = mark(bm);

I've tried the Tab Layout example, and I've also fixed the few typos in the example (and added all the activities to the manifest). However, when I run it on the emulator I get a NullPointerException on the first line that says
tabHost.addTab(spec);
So my question, of course, is. What is wrong with the example that would cause this exception? I'm using Eclipse Galileo and set the target package as Android 1.5. So far I've had no other problems with the other examples on the android dev site.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why I'm getting a NullPointerException.
When a user clicks on a particular image, a dialog window is supposed to pop-up and display a larger version of said image:
CODE:..............
The associated onCreateDialog looks like this:
CODE:.........
For reference, this is cover_dialog.xml:
CODE:....................
Now, when the image previously described is clicked, the application immediately crashes and throws the following error through LogCat:
CODE:......................
The line in question refers to this line inside of onCreateDialog:
coverLarge.setImageBitmap(book.getCover());
I don't get why coverLarge is null at that point.
