Android : Debug HTTP Response With Droid Emulator?

I would like to know if there is anyway to debug the HTTP response with the android emulator. my logs show that the response is not arriving complete to the application and i would like to know if it is the server that does not send the complete response or if my application is not processing the response completely.
I tried hooking up Fiddler and Blurp proxy, it actually works with Blurp proxy but only for HTTP and as you may guess i need it also for HTTPS

Let's say I want to perform a quick HTTP post to a website within my android app. If I were to set up the http client and send the post all in the onCreate method of the main screen (inside the UI thread) just for testing purposes, what would I use to quickly see what the response is to the post? I tried something quick and dirty below inside the onCreate method when the app first opens and nothing really happens, is there something more I need to do/obviously my toast idea is just bad.

I have a problem. I'm doing a http post request to a URL like this; DefaultHttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost(url); HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httppost); I am able to get the response content (html in this case) but I would like to be able to get the url of the response. Is there a way? Or could i use some other technique to do the post request and retrieve the url? The repsonse url is lke www.url.com?x=1&y=2 and would like to get the parameter values, I've tried to use the getParams().getParameter() on the HttpResponse object without any success. So if anyone has a solution to get the parameters without getting the url.

I'm facing an annoying problem here. My application is connected to a server that sends some data from time to time. It's some kind of eventing server. In order to receive data, I'm connecting to the server with an HttpURLConnection, retrieve the response InputStream and loop on it with the read method. The connection is always open. The distant server is cutting the connection every 5 minutes (for test purpose). When connection is closed, my application has to reconnect again. We detect a Connection Reset by Peer exception when the server closes the connection. The problem is that most of the time, I never receive the Connection Reset by Peer exception. So my application can't know that is has to reconnect and it's stucked on the read instruction. The InputStream.Read() method shouldn't always raise an exception if the connection is closed? What can I do to always detect Connection Reset by Peer exception?

i'm sending an http request to the google reader api and getting an unusual response code. following the documentation, i've requested an auth code and included it in the header of every request. after performing the login, and getting an auth code, i tried accessing this url, which is part of the documentation: http://www.google.com/reader/api/0/stream/items/contents when i send the request, i get a 411 status code, which is supposed to mean "Length Required". the length, as i've found, is supposed to be the length, in octets, of the message body. there is no message body in this request. there is only a single header, the POST parameter i="item id" and the URL itself. i tried setting the "Content-Length" header to "0" and also to "-1" to no avail. what's really interesting is that this same code worked fine before google changed their authorization procedure. it's apparent they've changed something else. so my question is what EXACTLY would cause a 411 response code and how can i prevent it?

I recently downloaded the latest NetBeans IDE (for MACOSX) and imported/migrated a project over from the ECLIPSE environment.Everything looks, and works well... except that EMULATOR gets stuck "waiting for the debugger to attach." I tried "Attaching Debugger." and set the PORT value to every case I've ever read about (8200, 8700, 5555, etc.) but the connection is refused.I am of the opinion that this is not the preferred way to start a debugging session in NetBeans for Android.

I'm using maven-android-plugin in my android application. I'm a dependency which maven download from remote repository before APK build. But if I want to debug the APK in emulator it does not include the those maven dependency and as a result APK does not run with normal Run (using Eclipse) and can not be debug as well. Could someone know how to debug in this situation?

To make development easier, I want to be able to send textual commands to my android app(especially prior to having prior the UI completely fleshed out).Presumably in the emulator, but it would be great if it also worked on a device connected via USB.Of course, I could add an editText control to my app and type the commands in there, but would prefer not have deal with debug things cluttering up the UI and all the complications of that.I also would like to be able to paste text from computer clipboard, which sorta rules out EditText controls.Is there any way to do this, say via any of the android-sdk/tools/ stuff? I would implement the command processor java class/method, but need some way to be able to actually feed it a string. I suppose I could do something that talks to the emulator via the file system or something, but would prefer not have to spend a lot of time doing this if there is something already available.

I have some information generated in the Android Emulator, and the only way I can see to get it out is using the Log class.
However, you cannot copy-and-paste from the DDMS log window. This is really annoying as I cannot use the information in another application, for example, without retyping it.
Is there a better way to get debug information out of the emulator? What happens when you write more complex applications? What do you do when you need to verify it is writing correct information to URLs, databases, files etc?

I am developing applications for Android in a company where the Internet is accessable via a proxy server only. I found out that the emulator of the 1.5 R3 SDK works well with the option -http-proxy, but the emulator of the 1.6 R1 SDK does not. Is this a bug in the 1.6 R1 SDK? And if so, is there a chance this gets fixed in - let's say - 1.6 R2? Or am I just doing something wrong, though providing the same options for the 2 different emulator versions?

I'm developing android application in my university that must use the internet through proxy server. In Android SDK 1.5 I use parameter - http-proxy when starting emulator and it working. But since Android SDK 1.6 until now (2.1) this approach is not working.

I have an android application that parses some HTML, downloads an image, and displays it. I'm using an AsyncTask to do the HTML parsing and image downloading, but that shouldn't be relevant. I never have a problem when I'm on WiFi on my phone, when I'm using the Eclipse debugger on my phone, or when I'm using the emulator. When I have my phone on the cell network (even with pretty good reception), the image sometimes fails to display. I'm having a hard time figuring out what is wrong, since the problem cannot be reproduced in the debugger. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

I am trying to configure http_proxy settings for Internet access from Android emulator (behind a proxy). I tried following options:
1. -http-proxy option using emulator command.
2. setting http_proxy environment and then launching the emulator.
3. Settings proxy using APN settings (Telkilla) (this worked till Android 1.6 version)
4. adding an entry in settings. CODE:.........

I'm trying to use wireshark to capture some HTTP packets exchanged between the emulator and a website. However, even though I can see the web content on the emulator browser, wireshark does not display any HTTP packets exchanged between the emulator and the website. Why is this?

I am having a specific problem that is preventing me using the android SDK from work. We are using a MS Proxy here that all internet traffic has to go through. The problem seems to be when the emulator is trying to access a site that uses 'Transfer-Encoding: chunked' If I attempt to download www.nds.com (no chunked encoding) into the browser, it works fine. However if I try to go to www.google.com (uses chunked encoding), the browser fails with the message: can't determine content length, and client wants to keep connection opened My feeling (and I'm no expert in this area) is that the underlying code managing the communication through the proxy is not dealing with the null terminator on the chunk encoded response when the connection to the proxy is being kept open? Does anyone have any experience in this area? Is the source to the emulator available so I can try and understand what is going on here?

Is there an easy way to inject a header into all HTTP request sent from the emulator, including HTTP requests made by my app and also by the built-in web browser? I need this ability to model the behavior of a carrier gateway. I tried running the emulator through Fiddler as a proxy because I know how to manipulate HTTP requests in Fiddler, but that that didn't work. The emulator was successfully able to make the first HTTP request, but choked on subsequent ones. Reading this list, it seems that getting the emulator to use a proxy is not is not that easy. If this is the only way to do what I need, then I'll certainly give it another shot and post details about any problems I encounter. I am just wondering if perhaps there is an easier way to inject a header.

anyone else having issues using the keyboard / inputing text while the hero is lying flat down on a table? i sometimes get no response or sluggish response when its on a table and i'm trying to send e-mail or texting. I tried re-calibrating and works fine when I hold it upwards/regular.

I'm at complete odds over configuring a proxy to inspect the HTTP(S) traffic for the app I'm developing. I've tried running Fiddler2 and Charles Web Proxy, both run on 127.0.0.1:888, and starting up the Android emulator with the parameter:
To test it out I open the Android browser. I see in Fiddler2 that the request is routed through the proxy. However, only RARELY does the request receive a successful response. In most, and when I say most I mean 99% of the time, the request is retried and fails again with the Android browser telling me "The server failed to communicate". Has anyone found a way to configure Fiddler2 or Charles for debugging HTTP(S) traffic through the Android emulator?

Anyone else heard/read anything from them regarding the leak?The more they keep quiet, the more I'm thinking they are just really kicking back waiting to see what the bugs/glitches are, before they 'officially' release it.

About 25% of the time my phone will ring and I go to swipe the lock to answer the call and I get no response from the slider. If and when it does decide to slide the call has already gone to voicemail. And if I turn the slide screen off in settings and the phone rings, tapping the "answer call" button does nothing (again, not all of the time).
I just tried to duplicate it calling my DX from my workphone and it slides fine and answers the call. Anyone have any ideas what might be causing the slider to not slide some of the time? Other than with answering the phone I've had no problems with the touch-screen.

just venting, but i am sick of the standard "task killer" response for any problem with the droid. i have all of 4 apps installed outside of the default apps my droid comes with. i am on droid number 3 due to poor mic performance and horrible sound. my wife is on droid number 4 due to mic just cutting out in the beginning of every call. service at the store and on the phone is ridiculously bad. if you have any problem, their standard response is to make it your fault for downloading apps. on a smartphone. argh. and, by the by, i have run my phone vanilla (only default apps) and run into same problem for every call.
