I'm trying to create an icon/widget (1 cell x 1 cell) that can be placed on the home screen of android. The widget will look and act exactly like the other standard shortcuts in android. It will have an icon and under that a label, it will be selectable with the trackball (highlight able) it will be highlighted when it is selected / clicked. How do I go about creating this home screen widget? Do I have to create the widget myself using code/xml or is there some standard xml, style, theme, code that I can use to ensure that the widget will have the same style/theme as the other home screen widgets? Is it possible to use the coverflow to browse albums and skip tracks when playing an album? I get it when doing play all songs or play all on a genre, so why not all the time?

I know there are a ton of third-party calendar widgets out there but most don't look very good or don't show event colors, etc. What I'd like is an exact clone of the stock widget but with the simple modification of showing 30 or 60 days out.

There is a MAX_DAYS variable which is set to 7 which is then used to set a SEARCH_DURATION variable. I'm not certain but this may be used in fetching events.
I am familiar with the SDK and creating apps but have never created a widget. I'm not sure if this code can be taken to make a widget with the desired modification.
I already posted this in the Bugless thread, but I figured people who weren't interested in the ROM might still be interested in this. Pete's just released an update.zip for his ROMS (but should work with any 2.0.1) that does some fixes and also introduces his port of the Milestone music player. It is completely stock 2.0.1 music player (buttons instead of tabs), but it does include this nice little feature. Unfortunately, there is no EQ, just 3D album scrolling for now.

I have added the thirdparty.jar into my pproject using "Java Build Path" Libraries settings in eclipse. But when I try to make jar for my entire project, the jar creation for my project is success but the "thirdparty.jar" is not getting included in my project.jar.

but this just returns a NullPointer. The resourceId needs to be dynamic (so I can pass any image to it), not just a hardcoded "myImage".Any help please?

So it would kind of be like a progress bar from 0 to 100, and whatever # they hit it shows in the image of the bar in an imageview?
will the device wake up if there is a widget instance on the homepage but the widget provider or receiver is disabled?If I have a widget instance on the home page, but if I were to disable the widget provider from receiving messages by disabling the component, and if I have no components receiving the messages targeted for that widget, will Android still wake up the device?
View 5 Replies View RelatedOne of the things I liked about Sense (I'm rooted now and running the Second Wave ROM) was the HTC weather animations when the screen was unlocked. After installing Widget Locker, I noticed an option to turn them on and now I have them back! I also installed the Weather & Toggle Widget and installed the weather skin that looks just like the Sense weather with the flip clock.The annoying part is that when it's sunny, or partly sunny, the "sun animation" from Sense doesn't perfectly align with the Weather & Toggle Widget weather icon. I know, I know, it's a minor problem and goes away when the animation is done, but the lack of symmetry sometimes annoys the hell out of me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am writing my first application and am trying to get my widget to load a different image when it is added to the home screen based on the state of the notification volume.It is detecting the notification state fine and the proper Toast messages appear when I add the widget, but I'm not getting any icon.I just get an empty button.I'm using the same code to change the icon in my onReceive() method to do other things and that works fine.Is this the proper way to accomplish that?

I have two Gallery widgets one above and one below. If the above one is scrolled then I want to pass the same touch event to the bottom widget so it also scrolls the same way.I have tried to use dispatchtouchevent events but I am facing an issue where in if the bottom gallery widget has some edit text then the edit text gets the key event and both widgets doesnt scroll anymore.I have tried to set focussable and editable to false on edittext even then it gets the touch events.I think I am going in the right direction. However I need some assistance in doing the right way.

Here is the best code sample that the developer documentation gives to what a widget activity should contain (the only other hint being the API demos, which only creates a static widget):

I am facing few problems and have some doubts. I tried to search for answers in this post but could not find, so I am posting here for your people's suggestions:
1. Here I am using 0 as id for the notification. Is it good in practice. Since, I don't want to that this notification conflicts with other.
2. I have one doubt, about notification ids, e.g. if i keep my notifications id as 1 and some other application also have set that as 1. In that case, will my notification be updated. or Android treats, application's notifications differently.
3. Is it necessary to add FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL flag in my notification. Because, I think this is used when notification will appear in the status bar. But in my case, I have no UI. It means nothing will appear in status bar.
4. Currently there is one problem. When my notification makes sound, sometimes it seems that it is suppressed or distorted by any other sound or event. I am not sure what is happening there.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a information based application, I have 92 subjects, for these subjects I have 92 map locations and maybe as much as 400 url links. Currently I have created a class for each map location and a class for each url link, but this would mean I would have in excess of 500 classes, so what I want to do is split the subjects in four catergories ie. listview of about 23 in four tabs which I have done and create a class that gets the url based on the selection the use makes and do the same for the map locations.Do I need to put these in a xml using the id method and how do you call individual entries, i.e. would I need 500 Android:id is there an easier way?
