View 1 RepliesI am trying to use
SQLiteDatabase.openDatabase( "/data/data/edwin11.myapp/databases/myapp.db", null, (SQLiteDatabase.CREATE_IF_NECESSARY | SQLiteDatabase.NO_LOCALIZED_COLLATORS));
To create/open a database instead of making use of the SQLiteOpenHelper (because I want to pass in the flag SQLiteDatabase.NO_LOCALIZED_COLLATORS. However, I am getting this exception for that line of code:
04-18 09:50:03.585: ERROR/Database(3471): sqlite3_open_v2("/data/data/edwin11.myapp/databases/myapp.db", &handle, 6, NULL) failed

Doing some testing just before that line of code (using File.isExists) shows that the file /data/data/edwin11.myapp/databases/myapp.db does not exist. Would that be the cause of the error? (Or am I just using SQLiteDatabase.openDatabase the wrong way?) Would it help if I create the file beforehand? (Shouldn't that be taken care of by the SQLiteDatabase.CREATE_IF_NECESSARY flag that I passed in?) If creating the file manually is the way to go, is it just an empty file, or do I have to write something to it?
I want to create a sqlite database by importing data from some data files, like csv etc., and then put this database into one of my android application and then deploy into the Android device.
By now the samples and tutorial what I found are all taliking about creating the sqlite database at runtime when running the android application on the device. Is there anyway I can create it offline and then attach it to my application later?
Any tools and docs for this?
I have certain needs that I am having trouble making an app for. I was hoping to be able to create a sqlite database that I can manually input data from my computer and search the data on my droid. I wanted to set up tags or full data search within each sqlite database object so and pull up a listing of best matches for the given search term.
The use for it is that I work on an Air Force Base and my job is very broad. I wanted to custom build an app that I could list all of the information pertaining to my job and be able to search it as I work to find solutions to problems way quicker than we are doing it now.
Is there any such app. I've been trying to create my own and it looks like it would be a mix between notepad and searchable dictionary but not quite.
Is it possible to choose a custom location for the sqlite database file? If possible I want to store the database file in the memory card. And if user switches from one memory card to the other I want my application to use whatever version of the database file available on the card.

I have learned from a blog : http://www.reigndesign.com/blog/using-your-own-sqlite-database-in-android-applications/
But it's not use. I run the createDataBase method in the oncreat.
It's give the error message: No such table
Someone told me i need push the sqlite database to emulator first.
I have seen other posts similar to this one but none of the solutions listed work for me. When I use the following command: adb pull /data/data/com.mydomain.myappname/databases/MyDatabase.db / home/me the following error results. failed to copy '/data/data/com.mydomain.myappname/databases/ MyDatabase.db' to '/home/me/MyDatabase.db': Permission denied I have no problems with the emulator. I am using a Dev Phone 2.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to inject a long text entry into a SQLite database, in a TEXT field. This text has new lines in it (i.e. it spans multiple paragraphs). I can get the new lines to show up if I do the INSERT manually:
INSERT INTO "LOGENTRY" VALUES(5,40,'PLACE','line1
line2
line4
',1283990533315,'4A','TEXT','',NULL);
but if I have the equivalent text in a CSV file and attempt to .import it into the table, I get an error that it's expecting more columns than exist (as soon as the new line is encountered, the program assumes it's the end of the input and thus it's missing columns). Is this possible? Or is the only way to manually do each INSERT?
I want get both Image and Text from the sqLite database and show them on the ListView, at present, I can save the text with sqLite well, but failed to save the images.

I want to allow a user to
a) Specify a folder/filename on storage for creating an SQLite database.
b) Specify an existing file/folder on storage card for opening as an SQLite Database.
Please direct me to a description of the techniques that the ContentProvider employs to access data. I am trying to understand how it works as well as what is tunable or even if its meant to be tunable. It the memory management tiered, cached, virtual, flat? Is it file based, shmem based, stream based? Can there be a combination thereof?
Any information, suggestions, or references are welcome. The android fundamentals page says: "The data can be stored in the file system, in an SQLite database, or in any other manner that makes sense;" but the android ContenProvider page barely skins the onion.
I am preparing a new update of my application, in this version I need to insert lot of new rows (200) in my db.
Because I don't want to programatically add 200 insert code line for each row, I would like to know what is the best method to accomplish it just with a call to the file and dumping it into my db.
Actually I am new to android. I want to create a .txt file programatically, save data to it and then retrieve the data. I had write one application for that but when I run it it creates file under data/data/ <myPackage Name>/files folder , I can see only size of this file but I can't open it. but when I deploy the application on mobile then there is no any file created. If i supplied path like FileOutputStream fOut = openFileOutput ("/sdcard/ deore.txt",Context.MODE_WORLD_WRITEABLE); then it throws Exception. So, please tell me where the actual file is saved under the phone and how to open it.

Or even better, are there alternatives to synchronizing data in such an application?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have to create an app that draws a map reading data from a text file : for example the text file can be like
. index x y orientation
vertex 1 0 0 0
vertex 2 5 0 0.5
vertex 3 10 2 0.3
so i need to do in java something like fscanf does in c (fscanf scans the text file for known formatted data... example, in the file i written i know each line has a string float float float and i need to put them into a specific data structure that can be a list of elements "vertex"
next, when i have all the data, draw a simple image rappresenting the data..
my questions are...
there is a function like fscanf?
and then.. what's better for drawing the 2d map? i have tu use Opengl? At the end i have to draw the image pixel by pixel.. i hope there is something easier then openGL
I'm new to Android, I just finished the Notepad Tutorials, where we can create SQLite Databases to save notes. So I wanted to know if it was possible to "import" my own SQLite database (not created with my App but with a 3rd-party software) to my project, and if the answer is yes, where should I save my SQLite databse and how can I have access to it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm doing a application that will use a database with serialized object. The objects will be already serialized and the user will just display things. View 3 Replies View RelatedI put my database field in "assets" folder. And use the code from this blog to copy the database to "/data/data/my_packname/databases/", (This copy code i run it in the onCreate() method when i run this app) then use select * from ... to get data. But it gives me the exception: no such table. Someone told me that if i am attempting to copy the file in SQLiteOpenHelper's onCreate(), it's too late. So the copy file code can not copy the complete file. So i need to use adb or ddms to pull the database first? So, Anyone can teach me how to use my own databse?
