I have a samsung moment that I seem to have inadverntantly disabled diagnostic usb access - if I have USB plugged in and then enable dial up networking in settings , USB disconnects - as soon as I disable DUN usb comes back up - I modified the setting in NV for scm from 3a to 2a and caused this, but I can't find a way to access non volatile memory any other way than through usb diagnostic mode

Very new to Android and Eclipse. All going well, pretty intuitive. One problem though, when advice is given to 'issue a command' to the emulator, where does one do that? I'm sure it's very straight forward, I just don't know where to do it.

I would like to do some simple things from the command line on my HTC desire such as telnet, DNS lookup and looking at ARP Tables, DHCP client functions etc. (for testing network services as part of my job, typical things such as testing SMTP access or testing connections to web server etc. e.g. using telnet {host} {port}) Telnet from the terminal seems to require root access (permission denied) I haven't rooted my HTC Desire and don't intend to root it at present unless I have to.I'm wondering how droid applications such as telnet clients etc. gain access without root and hence how I can?

I am doing a project where we have to use the Android Terminal Emulator. I downloaded the the Jackpal Android Terminal Emulator from github and using the instructions in the document to build the terminal emulator.
[code].....
I am having trouble installing the package in the first step itself, i.e. building the ndk shared libraries.
According to the instructions provided:
Build the shared library:
cd <the-android-terminal-emulator-directory>
<path-to-the-android-ndk>/ndk-build
Accordingly, I typed the following in my cmd
C:>cd androidterm
C:androidterm>android-ndk-r6b/ndk-build
I got the following error message:
'android-ndk-r6b' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
I am still learning Android and have never worked with the command line before. Is it a problem with the way I have typed the command?

Through Android Emulator, I am trying to create a folder using dev tools > Terminal Emulator. The terminal emulator gets launched with the SHELL PROMPT. (1) However, when I try to type a command, at the bottom of the screen, some suggestions are shown - but in CHINESE CHARACTERS. Dont know why CHINESE? (2) Also, the characters I type are not being displayed properly. For example, typing "cd" (for change directory), shows "^P". I need to go to the sdcard folder using "cd sdcard" and create a directory using "mkdir" and then copy some files into it.

How to format the second partition on an SD Card using terminal emulator?I have been trying to format the second partition I created on an sd card using the terminal emulator.I have tried all the normal mkfs, mkpartfs, mkdosfs all of them say "<command>: not found".Though 'dd' works and clears the data it also destroys the File Allocation Table.I was trying to format the second partition of the sd card so that I can still use the sd card on my windows machine and view the files in the second partition.

To make development easier, I want to be able to send textual commands to my android app(especially prior to having prior the UI completely fleshed out).Presumably in the emulator, but it would be great if it also worked on a device connected via USB.Of course, I could add an editText control to my app and type the commands in there, but would prefer not have deal with debug things cluttering up the UI and all the complications of that.I also would like to be able to paste text from computer clipboard, which sorta rules out EditText controls. Is there any way to do this, say via any of the android-sdk/tools/ stuff? I would implement the command processor java class/method, but need some way to be able to actually feed it a string. I suppose I could do something that talks to the emulator via the file system or something, but would prefer not have to spend a lot of time doing this if there is something already available.

I have Samsung Galaxy ACE which is rooted. Till y'day I was using CM9 Beta 8 ICS 4.0.4 and it was working well.
I installed CM10 JB for Galaxy Ace alpha1 from "hxxp://maclaw.pl/?page_id=180#comment-3642"
Now the problem is, JB doesn't have File Manager installed and I need to install TB to revert my backups.
Due to some unknown reason I am not able to access internet on my device either through GPRS or 3G connection.
I am desperately looking for a way to access my SDCARD wherein I have all my apk's which I can install however, without File Manager I am not sure how to install an apk.
I did some google search and came across topics about installing apk using Android SDK etc.. however I would not want to work on SDK as I feel its bit tedious job for me.
I also tried Android Injector however that didnt work even if I have enabled USB debugging Mode for adb + apps.
Now, I am hoping that, I can use the Terminal Emulator which is preinstalledo n my phone to install apk present on my sdcard.
However, I am not sure how to do that, what are the steps to install apk present on my sdcard from Terminal Emulator available on my phone.
Here are some of the screen captures [URL] ......

So I hear a lot of talk about "pushing" things with adb shell, and from what I've read I believe this requires a PC? If I have a Mac, and want to perform some of these actions, can they be done with the terminal emulator, and if so, do I just copy exactly the directions for adb or do I have to change them slightly? And yes, that was quite the run-on sentence, my English teachers would probably cringe...

Having trouble figuring out how to make terminal emulator work. I'm trying to setup Collin_Phone's battery tweak according to these instructions: [GUIDE][UPDATE] Try the battery tweak with Myn's RLS3! - xda-developers but when i type in batt-cfg, it tells me something like command not found so i cannot move on into the later steps. My questions are:
1)should i have done something in particular to setup terminal emulator before running it?
2)can TE even work on my phone since i didn't use ADB to root, but unrevoked instead?
3) Lastly can i still somehow install/hook up into ADB even though i used unrevoked? There are still some functions I'd like to try out that i dont think i can without a direct link to my PC.

I'm very intimidated by terminal emulator because I've never used such a thing and it seems like a powerful tool. Many of the roms I'm considering offer special scripts (like Overclock or switch apps) that I'd like to be able to use.Would someone mind sharing exactly step by step how to use terminal emulator to install a program or use a custom script. Are there settings in terminal emulator that I should adjust? Basically I open TE and see a blue screen (yes reminds me of BSOD).Then what.just type the script instructions verbatim? After typing do I use the enter key to run?I'm looking at Fab's Apex Rom.Maybe that will help give an idea as to what options/scripts I'd like to be able to tinker with.Maybe a short video tutorial would help?

I'd like to get a home screen terminal widget if that's possible. Literally just a text box on the home screen that I can run shell commands with. With that said:
1. Is there such an app in existence already?
2. Would there be any software/hardware limitations that would prevent me from developing one? I don't want to start trying to develop it and then find out that it was impossible from the start.

After installing 2.2 ver 2.3.13, I erased cache and personal data (shouldn't have I know but the step by step said to do so) and lost my root somehow kinda. Easy Root said I was rooted, but most of my root apps except for Drocap didn't work , saying they needed root access. After typing su in Better terminal, it said su permission denied. A buddy of mine gave me the zip Droid2root (said it was the same for Droid 2 and X), he also gave me a link to a SWEET step by step using an emulator and then "force closing" the emulator then going back to it and finishing the typing of the rest of the commands. It worked great until, I did a factory rest to try to fix a minor problem I had with my contacts shortcut force closing on me. Well, after the reset, I lost root again, but I couldn't find the link again either. If anyone knows the link, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know. The title had something like "rooting the lazy or easy way" in it, and again it used an emulator.
Even when I try adb shell though my emulator it says: /data/data/com.magicandroidapps.bettertermpro/bin/sh:adb: Permission denied

Alright so, I've recently rooted my phone and I installed terminal emulated, I have superuser permissions and I'm semi-familiar with both. I got an app called Barnacle Wifi Tether and when I try to run the app, it says permission denied and it doesn't ask for superuser permission. When I go into terminal emulator and type in su it says permission denied.I forget the code to manually give SU to something like Barnacle...I'm tech savvy but not Droid savvy yet so be gentle!

How much are you using the terminal, and what kind of stuff do you use it for? Which emulator are you using? I like the idea of tinkering with command line on my phone, using it to do simple stuff, partly as a fun way to get reacquainted with it, as I use to use command line a little bit with XP and ubuntu. I've batted around between Better Terminal Emulator Pro and Terminal Emulator. One confusing thing is that they seem to use different commands. For example, in terminal emulator the help command brings up a help menu, in TEP it is unrecognized as a command. What accounts for these differences? Lastly, any suggestions for lists of commands and tips for using them, in a way that will work with these emulators?

I have a Nexus 4 which is bootloader unlocked and rooted. The USB port is partially faulty - it charges only at USB speed and is not detected as a device on my laptop. I've tried multiple cables, wall sockets and computers.
I do however have TWRP already installed.
Considering that fastboot from the PC is not an option (becase of the USB issue), can I run the fastboot commands inside the Terminal Command section of TWRP to flash a factory image of Android 4.3 ?
I'm asking because I've only seen guides to install recoveries, not ROMs via Terminal Command on phone.
