Android :: ZXing Doesn't Read 1D Barcode In Droid App / Fix For This?
Oct 2, 2010I am developing a new application which hopefully will use a barcode reader to scan and find books. I will then use the ISBN information to get more information.
The intents work and I can scan 2d barcodes OK but not the 1d barcodes of books which I know scan fine using the full application.
This is my code. I have tried it without putting the intent extras and it doesn't change anything. code...
Is there something obvious I am missing? The settings in the app also are selected on 1d scanning only.

Apr 29, 2010Just got my droid incredible tonight and when trying to use the barcode scanner app it keeps trying to focus and just as it is about to lock in on the bar code, it goes out of focus and back in focus again... and repeats over and over.I tried cleaning the glass but it is pretty darn clean. Anyone else having this issue? Any thoughts?

Oct 6, 2010I know this has most likely been discussed many times. But I am looking for a decent email widget.
At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.

Jan 12, 2010DL 2 different scanners, barcode scanner and shopsavvy. Neither one works worth a darned. Have tried different items usually common ones i.e. a case of Mtn. Dew. It chokes and says it can't find a retailer. Seriously?! If it can't find even a simple case of pop which hundreds of retailers have, that's pathetic!! Has anyone found a real BC app that has actual products and works?

Jul 15, 2010I send backup tapes offsite each day, and every day I have to write down the barcode numbers and print them off so the driver can sign for them to say he has taken them.I know there is a 101 apps to scan, but they are all for shopping, is there a free app that will simply let me scan more than 1 item at a time, then show the scanned items in a report so I can email it myself from my phone?Just a text file that list barcodes in a row would be nice.

Nov 24, 2009I just got an Android phone on Sunday and I'm still learning what I'm doing. I found a thread on here for the Android Network Awards, and all of the apps have a 2-D barcode next to them. Clicking on it invokes a "market" protocol. I'm guessing that there may be some way for me to scan this barcode from my phone and install the app. Is that right? Presumably, I could also browse to the page from my phone and click on the "market://..." links, but scanning a barcode to install an app is just cool.

Every time I find a barcode while browsing on my phone I then have to open the same web page on a desktop / laptop so I can snap it with the barcode reader on my phone. I'm probably just being stupid but can I get my phone browser to read the barcode? Do any browsers offer this as a plugin?

It seems Barcode Scanner also scans QR codes and Shopper doesn't, so is there anything Shopper does that BS doesn't do?I also already have the Amazon app, which can scan barcodes (but maybe just finds them only on Amazon?) and Goggles, which seems to do a Google search for them. Thought it would be a pretty cool resource to price match items when shopping whether they are on the web or locally.I have tried and tried and tried to work the Barcode scanner on the phone with no luck. Tried scanning up close.. a few inches away.. I sit there and sit there and sit there while it supposedly scans but never comes up with anything.Tried Google shop too which btw doesn't show on my app list after its installed so i have to pull it up on market to access it. Weird... But that is mainly for cd's, dvd's, books, etc. Things with some type of art or cover.

Feb 23, 2010I have T-mobile touch with android on it. I want to use Barcode scanner, but when i turn it on, the screen is black, and all i see is that red line on the center. It's like my camera is not turning on. I also tried on my cousins phone (exactly the same) and the Barcode scanner app worked fine. I tried many times all over again but the problem is the same everytime. BTW when i try to take photo my camera is working fine.
