I would like to use the IM plugin class thats included in the Android source, but it is not SDK friendly. I am happy to submit the revisions required, but I don't really know what to change. It requires access to the non-api android.im tree and UID sharing with android.uid.im. but I'd really like to implement this. Is it better to just to submit an official revision?

I have my app that I am about to release as a beta. It also has bug reporting feature thanks to ACRA.
Now I want to be updating the beta and also fix any bugs that has been reported.
But of course I would want to keep the original released copy so that I can figure out the bugs and what not.
And then as final versions get released I would want to do the same with each released version.
So I need some kind of version control system. I am new to all this so I'm not sure what the best/simplest way to go about doing so.
I'v googled around and there seems to be numerous revision control systems with a lot of features I don't really need.
But as long at its easy to do what I'm looking for I'll be happy with it. I am also using eclipse so something that goes great with it would be nice.
I'm not too sure how it would all work.
Revision 7 broke my build. I need SDK tools revision 6 for Mac OS.
Revision 6 is listed here, http://developer.android.com/sdk/tools-notes.html
But, I didn't find anywhere to download it. Anyone know?
I know how to get the API level, android.os.Build.VERSION.SDK_INT, but there are also several revisions of each level release, e.g. for 2.1 there's rev 1 and 2. How do I determine the revision of a build?
The reason i'd like to know this is that I have a workaround for a bug in Android 2.1 (and 2.2), and this workaround will break the moment the corresponding bug is fixed. So right now i'm in the odd position of hoping that the bug won't be fixed (at least not until I can find an answer to above question).
I had 4 Behold II's that i purchased recently under a family plan. Two of them had a problem where I couldn't access the dialpad (or touchscreen) during a call and would sometimes randomly freeze (requiring a battery pull), while the other two worked perfectly (or as Perfectly as a Behold II with 1.5 can). Called TMO Cust Serv, and told them my problem. The rep transferred me to an Android specialist, who after I described my problems, then acknowledge problems with some batches of the Behold II. I asked him to upgrade me to the MyTouch 3g, but he said he couldn't. He said he would send me two new Behold II's. I told him I was concerned about the problems with known problems with the Behold II's, and he assured me they are known and the ones he would send out would have an updated motherboard to address those issues. Sure enough, a few days later, my two new Behold II's arrived, and after testing them both, neither of them exhibited the issues described above. Now as far as I can tell, they are running the same exact 1.5 ROM's, so there must be a new hardware revision or something that may address some of the problems we have been having.

Summary: There is a widget installed, that defines a configuration activity. If the user changes the orientation while they are in the configuration activity, and they finish that activity in a different orientation that they started, the widget does NOT appear in the home screen after the configuration is done.
How to reproduce: have a minimal widget, with a configuration activity that contains a button, which correctly updates the App Widget when it is clicked (as explained in http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/appwidgets/index.html#Confi...). Add a new instance of the widget, so the config screen shows up. Change the orientation once. Click on the button. Your widget does not appear in the home screen. (Ouch.)
If this has already been reported, or if there's a better way to submit a bug report.
I'm having a very strange problem with 'submit' inputs on my browser.First, I'm running Virtuous.Here's the problem: Submit buttons on my phone are unstyled. I just see the text. It doesn't break their function, but it's been bothering me. Here's a screenshot:
The word "Submit" is a button. As you can plainly see, there is no styling on it, so it just looks like text.
It doesn't only do this on the stock browser; it's doing the same thing on Dolphin HD.Any ideas?
I'm creating a new class, using eclipse "New Java Class" dialog box. I can write the superclass I want (I can't find using "browse" button), but I can't write or select an interface to implement. I click "add" but ther is nothing to select. What I'm doing wrong?

I'm very new to JAVA and Android so I hope I don't sound too stupid. I'm developing an application where I intercept an SMS message and then based on various elements of that SMS I might delete it once it's been saved to the inbox. I have a receiver class that intercepts the txt message, and I am also able to delete messages from my inbox with code in the activity class using a button at the moment. The problem I have is communicating between the receiver class and the activity class where the code to delete a message resides. I tried putting that code directly into the receiver class but as I'm sure most of you already know the BroadcastReceiver class doesn't seem to support what I need to delete messages. I've been searching for an answer to this for a while, but haven't been able to find anything. Honestly I'm not sure I know enough about JAVA and Android to even recognize a solution if I saw it.

I'm trying to develop plugin for eclipse that should draw my custom view inflated from XML. Everything works fine until eclipse tries to instantiate any class from android.jar library. It fails with Runtime exception without any other helpful information (stub!).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using a laptop with Windows 7 Home Prem x64. I have installed Java JDK1.6.0_18 and Eclipse Gallileo. I have downloaded and installed the latest version of Android SDK with several Platforms loaded and a AVD defined. I can install the Android Eclipse plugin from the remote site stated in the instructions. The plugin installation performs without any errors and I can verify that the plugins are indeed installed. My problem begins when I go to Windows -> Preferences, there is no Android section to configure. And when I go to File -> New -> Project, there is no Android Project to choose. I have uninstalled the plugin and reinstalled at least 10 times, trying different things and still no luck. I originally had the 64 bit version of the JDK installed, but removed it and installed the 32 bit version. Is it because I am using Windows 7?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm sure I'm not the first one to say this, but for goodness sakes, we need a very good Android UI builder plugin for Eclipse or whatever other java tools developers are using. A nice toolbox docked on the side where I can drag and drop controls to the screen/form and then allow me to set the properties in the prop inspector and then create events, etc. I've got ideas for some business applications and I HATE having to deal with main.xml. Droid Draw is okay, but it is a far cry from having a good UI plugin.
