May 24, 2010I am working on an application and one feature that would make it really useful is the ability to share some information, but the other device may not be expecting the data to be sent.For example, if I am reading a really good book, and I realize that a friend may like it, I could use an application to send the data to him, so he could order the book from Amazon.But, since he isn't expecting the data, I would hate for the application to be polling a server every so often, as that will be needlessly draining the battery.Ideally it would be great if there was a way to make a phone call to the target device, send a data packet and end the call.If it could be done and prevent the phone from ringing, then it would be very useful to me.I am curious if there is some way to send data between devices without polling.

I want that after an option has been selected from the second activity's DialogBox, it should be displayed on the first activity screen in a text-view.

What I want to achieve is - after App1 is installed on the device to be able to load App2 which defines and implements class B which is subclass of class A (imported from App1 package); and be able to get an instance of class B in the App1. Class B doesn't add any new interfaces, so using it as class A is ok. But I am not sure how to pass the instance of class B to App1 (preferrably without any user interaction).

Sep 18, 2010I have a Droid Eris that i just got with the 2.2 leak i think well the phone was acting up so i reinstalled the leak now i cant get pass the activation part. if i hit activate the screen goes black and i cant touch anything to make it go back on i have to take out the battery but emgency calls work fine but its only 4 emergency so im asking is there any way to bypass the activation or a way to go back to 1.5 plz help me i really like the phone i would like 2 mainly use it 4 music. Anyhow, recently my power button responds but I have to really press it hard and it as though the button is jammed cause it doesn't depress as far.
My question is that is there a way to designate the camera button to become the power button? I know on some phones you can make different buttons do different things and I was curious if this was possible on the Droid.

However, I've come to find out that this is a blackout area for League Pass. Does anyone know of a way to change the Droid's location so that League Pass thinks I am in a different city? I see there is a way on the iPhone, but I can't find anything for the Droid.

Feb 17, 2010Class AddText(extends Activity), Grafitti(extends MapActivity) and MarkerOverlay. Grafitti calls AddText, and AddText opens a new Activity that gets an input from user (EditText), then when that is successful Grafitti calls MarkerOverlay. The problem is I can't access the input in AddText. I need to use that input in MarkerOverlay, I tried creating a setter and getter but it won't work. (error) I've tried searching the web and I think the solution is Bundle. I'm having a hard time understanding how Bundle works. Is there any other way? or any code snippet on how to use Bundle. A code snippet would really help me a lot.

I've just started with Android programming and while I finally got what I want my "Hello World" to do, I feel as if I'm bludgening my way through rather than grasping concepts. I created three EditText boxes. Below those I created three Spinners. Pick a number in the Spinner and it will show up in the corresponding EditText box. Spinner 1 correlates to EditText 1, Spinner 2 to EditText 2 and Spinner 3 to EditText 3. I had a hell of a time getting this to work. I do have some cleaning up to do. Is there a better way to pass or reference resources around various classes?

All the models are wrapped up in an array list. Now, when the user clicks on a list item, the underlying model is going to be serialized and sent as IntentExtra to the next Activity (e.g. a deeper sub list). (Originally I asked here a different question. The solution was not related to Serializable and wouldn't help anybody. However MatteKarla gave an interesting input. Thats why I decided to rewrite this question.)

I supose that the great solutin it will be to pass the id resource (image) but I don't know how to pass it. Can you help me?
