Android :: New And Lost Paid App

Aug 29, 2010

new guy to android here.I just got myself a new samsung galaxy s phone, bought my first app from the market, but when I restored my phone, I can't restore this app.I'm using the same gmail account, but when I search for weather & toggle, it wants me to pay for it again, I think this is very unfair.

Motorola Droid :: Gcall Stucked - Lost Paid Applications?

May 4, 2010

my gmail account got hacked. Someone managed to break in, change my password, and send emails to all my contacts. I have created a new gmail account because I can not access the old one through any password recovery methods available through google. After changing passwords and emails on over 20 accounts, I am at my wit's end. I had to export over 400 contacts from my phone, load them up on PC, then cut out just under 300 (where the hell did all those come from?!) to get to my normal >100. I am now left with the following dilemmas: I have a new email address set up on my phone which works right now, but my gcal is stuck on the old address which will obviously not log in. Phone (Droid, 2.1 stock) is telling me I need to do a factory data reset to get the old account off. Is there any way around this? Also, I have several paid apps. With my original gmail account compromised, and I presume not recoverable, do I just lose all those purchases? I am also having trouble loading my ical backup file (the only way I can get my calendar events) into my new gmail account. The import screen just sits there, doing nothing. I tried searching the forum and net for answers, but I found nothing and have exhausted my mental capacity for this for right now.

Android :: How Distribute Paid Application / When Paid Market Is Not Available?

Feb 22, 2010

this question is now obsolete, as Android Market includes much more countries and such services as PayPal Mobile Payments Library are available.I'd like to sell my Android application, but I live in Poland and in my country* Android Market supports only free apps (we cannot sell and we cannot buy too). What is the best way to sell application in such situation? I can accept PayPal money transfers, but I don't know how to distribute APK package without exposing it to getting pirated. Did someone tried it already and succeeded? you may be surprised, paid apps are supported only in 12 countries worldwide.

Android :: Where Are Paid Apps?

Feb 1, 2009

I believe I have been quite reasonable, patiently waiting for you to deploy the paid application solution. I adopted Android early, took many punches and setbacks each time you rolled out a new SDK making major changes to the API. Now I am frustrated with how you are handling this situation. Everyday more and more applications hit the market for "free", in effect watering down the market and reducing my chance of making money on your platform.Does this sound greedy? Perhaps, but this is the real world. If I can't support my development by selling my product, I can't feed my family. Looks like it is back to the iPhone and the new Blackberry store.

Android :: Maps API In Paid App

Jan 5, 2010

Incorporating the Maps API into your application is free as long as the app is also free. Otherwise, you need a commercial license. A commercial license for $10K is a heck of a lot of $1.99 apps. Does anyone have any insight on alternative payment structures for the Maps API. Excerpt from terms.html: 9.1 Free, Public Accessibility to Your Maps API Implementation. Your Maps API Implementation must be generally accessible to users without charge. You may require users to log in to your Maps API Implementation if you do not require users to pay a fee. Unless you have entered into a separate written agreement with Google or obtained Google's written permission, your Maps API Implementation must not:

(a) require a fee-based subscription or other fee-based restricted access; or (b) operate only behind a firewall or only on an internal network (except during the development and testing phase).

Android : Way To Uninstall A Paid App?

Apr 14, 2010

I hope this hasn't been asked before. Here is the situation. I bought a paid app (Droid DJ) and everything was fine until I was notified that an upgrade was available. When I upgraded, the app not longer worked on my Nexus One. I contacted the developer and they immediately fixed the problem and issued a new version. The problem is that the Android Market hasn't notified me of the new upgrade. I am hesitant to uninstall the app then download it again (I don't want to have to pay again). Does anyone know how this works?

Android :: How To Convert Free App To Paid App?

Mar 4, 2009

From what I learn, a developer cannot convert his FREE app to a PAID app. I was looking out for some alternative ways to make this happen. I have an app with about 10K users. Users have their data stored inside the application. Lets call the existing FREE version com.my app I would like to sell my app for $10. How do I go about it? If I create a new application, it does not accept com.my app since it says I already have an app on the store with the same name. Create a new app: com.paid my app does not help because how do the existing 10K users get their data from FREE version (my app) to PAID version (paid my app)

Android :: Want To Install Paid Apps

Jul 19, 2010

The X is my first Android phone, and I am loving it. Night and day difference from the Storm I had. I have installed some free apps from the market. I am, however, unable to install any paid apps. I have tried a couple different ones so far. One was Beautiful Widgets and the other was Tapa talk. After selecting the Buy Now button, it prompts you to log in to your Google account. I do this and then it asks what you want to sync, not sure why that comes up. But then after selecting next, it just goes right back to the app with the Buy Now option. Anyone else seen this that can tell me what I am doing wrong?

It's been a week of non-stop issues and extremely unprofessional silence from Google (other than the poster saying "Just to let you know we're looking into this", and I'm considering staying for another week max and then pulling out my paid app from Market. Actually I'd pull the free one as well but haven't slept on that yet - perhaps I'll leave it to direct users to AndAppStore and SlideMe.My question is am I even allowed to pull out a paid application given that I have sold it already (to < 100 customers though)?

Android :: Market And Paid Apps

Oct 13, 2009

I have a Vodafone NZ 'Google Experience' HTC Magic. This phone was released in NZ back in late July, but as of yet we still have no access to paid apps in the Android Market. It would appear we are not alone, as posts to the market help forum reveal similar concerns for the likes of Switzerland, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Israel, Czech Republic and mainland China. Now in and of itself I can accept a delay while all the nuts and bolts of international tax laws etc are worked out, but what is particulalrly galling here is the total lack of information on what is going on.Locally, vodafone are polite but basically seem as much in the dark as I am. This seems strange given that Vodafone group obviously have a worldwide agreement with Google to market the Magic as a 'Google Experience' product.Google simply don't respond personally on the forum and the only help comes from forum long timers who link to a page on the market site that is completely out of date - it has had the same typos for months!

As far as I can work out, availability of paid apps to customers seems to be somehow coupled to whether developers in your country can submit paid apps to the market at large. I'm sure there is a reason for this, but it seems pretty weird, given that Google Checkout works in NZ already. If Google are serious about taking on the iPhone store, then they really need to address this urgently, crippling their users by only allowing distribution of paid apps in half a dozen (mostly European) markets is crazy - especially given the enormous potential of markets like China, which doesn't have the iPhone. The other worrying aspect is the lack of professionalism in the handling of this by whoever is responsible for the Market project. If Google wants to play with the big boys then they need to start behaving like grown-ups and take some lessons in customer service.
