Android :: Linkify For Twitter Hashtags

Jan 1, 2010

I got the @s linkifying no problem with @([A-Za-z0-9_]+) like this:

However, when i try to do the same with hashtags the hashtag part is not passed to the link. This is what I tried:

It is not the matter of the hashViewURL (I tried with %23 etc.), somehow the extracted hash is not appended to the url. The hash tag is properly showing as link but the link only points to raw hashViewURL from above

Android :: Launching An Activity Using Linkify

Jul 22, 2010

I'm not sure if this can be done, but is it possible to launch an activity from text that has been Linkified? I'm basically providing an illustrated glossary, and when the user clicks on a highlighted term, I want the activity that handles display of the image and associated text to fire up. I also need to pass in some parameters to the activity being launched.

Android :: Linkify TransformFilter Is Not Transforming

Oct 11, 2010

I'm working with a CheckBox that needs to hace some links appearing as text, not urls. I'm using something like this:

If I understand well, if the text in the checkbox contains "(something here)" it should output "something here" without parentheses.

This is just a test before adding the link ie. (go to google-

The thing is the links look like links but they are not modified (still with parentheses). Even if I put a schema or I hardcode the String in transformUrl method nothing happens.

I tried with setting autoLink to none, setAutoLinkMask(0), and maybe some more but still stuck.

Android :: ListView That Uses Linkify To Create A Link To Another Activity In My App

Jul 15, 2010

I have a ListView that uses Linkify to create a link to another activity in my app. the url looks something like content://com.myapp/activitiy/view?param=blah

This works fine every time.

However, in another view, I'm trying to call some code like this:

But for some reason this doesn't seem to work. It doesn't trigger my activity (and in fact it blows up if i dont include the setAction() call. How am I supposed to create the Intent such that it acts the same way that Linkify does...?

Now i realize i can setup the extras and then handle it in the activity, but that just seems like duplicated effort.

Android :: Linkify To Create Link An Email Id To Email App

Oct 30, 2010

I am stuck at a place when I was using Linkify to create Link an email id to the Android email app.

I have a large sentence in a textview which has an email id. On clicking on it, it opens my android email app. But The problem is that, I cannot add any subject or message in the mail. Is there any way of doing this using linkify ? Or do I have to use any other way for doing this. I initially used a textview which had just the email id, from which I could add the subject and message, but i will have to keep the email id in a separate line. I want the entire line in the textview where the email id comes in the middle of the sentence.

I am currently doing like this:

Second question, will I encounter any problems if I have more than one Twitter app running on my phone?

Android :: Twitter App That Indicates New Tweets?

Dec 1, 2009

I have been sorely disappointed with the twitter apps on Android for one reason and one reason only: Not one of the twitter apps I have used has had any way of indicating which tweets are new and which ones aren't.

My only other experience with mobile twitter apps have been iPhone apps. On all of them whenever the app was opened the newest tweets were pointed out in some way. A lot of times is was with a highlighted background, but the best way I've seen was with a sort of "memory" feature. The app would remember which tweet you were viewing when you last had it open, and then when you opened it again it would show the timeline in the same place it had been when you closed the app and the newer tweets would be loaded on top of that. Several apps did it this way.

It seems goofy to me that not one of the Android programmers who have made twitter apps thought of something like this, so I have been assuming I am missing something. I use the Twidroid Pro app (on a Droid), and there is a setting in there that says "Remember Timeline position" so I made sure I checked that. It sounded like that would do what I described above, however it doesn't do anything that I've been able to see...
