I am using one class which extends ListActivity and One class extending BaseAdapter.
The Base Adapter uses getView function to inflate layout from xml.
The xml contains a text and a button to delete the row of list.
Please let me know how to handle the button click in the ListActivity class.

I have been working with this api example, to produce an expandable list of items (note this example does not use the ExpadableListView).In playing with the example, I tried to add another widget that would become visible and be gone at the same time as the text (mDialogue in the sample code). This works well with another TextView, but as soon as I tried to add a button widget, it stopped working. The list would expand on first click, showing my hidden TextView and Button, but it will not disappear on further clicks. The button is however, clickable, and I was able to set up an onClick listener to change the button text back and forth.I'm starting to wonder, is it just not possible to have a clickable item inside a clickable list item? Or is there some kind of work around? Would it solve my problem if I used ExpandableListView?

If the data in the listview do not contain the data of user choice then user should be able to enter data. If the data is already there in the list user will be able to select the data using custom selector. If a selection is made in the list view and user wanted to enter data in the text field at the bottom after selection then the marker in the list view should be unselected. I tried to use onclick() method on edit text using click listener. First time when it is clicked, edit text is getting focus and onclick() method is not fired. And when it is clicked second time, onclick() method is fired and notifyDataSetChanged() method is called. I tried to call the notifyDataSetChanged() method from the Focus Listener, list view selection is gone in my first attempt and edit text is not receiving any data input from the keyboard (frozen).

I then simply hide the unused fields by setting visible false on each one.This has worked well, but I'm about to add a lot more data fields to the notes and inflating that many unneeded views for each row will surely kill my app. I need a more dynamic solution.I've decided the best way to go is to create a custom view. At first I thought that all I had to do was to add an onItemClickListener to the ListView so if the used clicked on any of the views that composed this Item the listener would react. Well, I was wrong. I´ve tried a lot of things, including setting focus and focusontouchmode off for each of the views that compose the item´s view but it still doesn´t work. Any tips here? I have a tab activity with three tabs and I want to display a listview in each tab. The list populates correctly, but for some reason I can not get the context menu or itemclicklistener to recognize gestures on the listviews. Anyone have any ideas why this might be? I had added the Button at the bottom of the list with addFooterView (button); but if list is longer than the screen, then we have to scroll down to get the button and if list is very short then Button will be at the middle of the screen just bellow the listview :(
I got Ramain Guy's suggestion of setting height = "0dip" and weight = "1" but by doing this nothing is appearing on the screen (blank view)

I'm trying to create a button in a custom view that I've created. I'm looping through an XML document and drawing certain things. I want to be able to also create buttons to go in certain locations depending on the xml data. I'd like to do it in the view because I want to be able to call invalidate() on my view to redraw things and replace the buttons when new xml data is available.
The problem is that I put my code in the view class, the activity crashes because the button is "null".

I know this code works for creating buttons because I can put it in my activity class and it works just fine. Any suggestions? I thought about relocating the button in the activity, but I can't figure out how to do this when new data is available.
I've seen example com.example.android.apis.view.List11 from ApiDemos. In that example, each row takes the view android.R.simple_list_item_multiple_choice. Each such view has a TextView and a CheckBox.
Now I want each view to have 2 TextView's and 1 CheckBox, somewhat similar to the List3 example. I tried creating a custom layout file row.xml like this:

Then in Activity.onCreate(), I do like this:

The result kind of looks like what I want, but it looks like the list doesn't know which item of it is selected. Also, I need to click exactly on the checkbox. In the List11 example, I only need to click on the item row.
So what do I need to do to make a multiple choice list with my custom view for each row?

I have a list of items which can contain photos, some text to the right, an image to the bottom and more text below that. Very confusing I know. Each of these might be present for an item. The only thing that will always be there is the title.
So my question - what is the best way to create each custom list item view? I am thinking I have to use this getView to create each view. But when creating each view, is it best to 1) create a view dynamically and adding an image, for example, if it exists, or 2) create an xml file with all possible elements and hide them depending on the item?

So, I have a text view and a button in a navigation bar(nav.xml) and a corresponding list view. This navigation bar is included in another page( products.xml)
when the button is clicked i get the list view right below the button(which is what i want to achieve) but its my moving all the contents on the current page downwards, even the text view which is placed in nav bar moved downwards.

I want the ImageView change when I click on them, and I want to open a context menu when I press for a long time into the ListView item.For the ImageView, everything works properly. For the whole item, I can show the context menu after a long press, but my problem is that the ImageView changes as well when I am pressing the TextView, for example.I hope you understand my problem. I think that all the children of a view are affected by an event in the parent, but I am not sure.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a ListView with a custom Adapter that extends ArrayAdapter. It's ArrayAdapter of Type Artist. (There are about 1200 artists in my list). Artist is a very small class that has a name and an id. The Artist Class has toString() overridden to return just the name. I have an EditText. The EditText has an TextChangeListener where I call .getFilter().filter(chars, callback) on my adapter. In the Filter.Filterlistener().onComplete() callback i print the count and it looks really good. As i type the count decreases. So it seams everything works as advertised, but the List stays the same. I tried to call artistAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged() to force the list to redraw, but nothing happens. [see 2.)]. I am tinkering around for days now! I am desperate. Hopefully someone can have a look on my code and tell me what I am doing wrong! How can I force the list to be redrawn?
Here is what I have done:

When I browse the buttons by pressing DOWN arrow key and then press the RIGHT arrow key, the focus does not go to the topmost list item.
